Good memory – the trip to coventry. I was working at morrisons at the time & had to work every saturday & pleaded with my boss to let me go. She did & pattersons last minute goal lives long in the memory.
Bad memory – V. Leeds in ’87 quarter final. I was 15 at the time & to this day it remains the only time i have cried after a latics game.
& hopefully a new chapter written in the history of wigan athletic.
Again, fair point nuneaton. Like you, i too say i live in runcorn but am from wigan originally. The problem i have is whenever i go into a shop or chat to any of the parents or kids in the kids team i coach, no one understands me cos they’re all used to scouse accents – nothing wrong with that garswood before you pick up on that. :) But not many people understand me due to me speaking in a broad wigan accent. Hence, i love coming back to wigan to either watch latics &/or visit family & friends & being able to talk proper.
Fair point filmoss. But ive lived out of wigan for 9 years now, so technically, am no longer fromwigan.
Im a born & bred wiganer but have lived in runcorn for the past 9 years now.
Is your selection a wind up phil.
IF we get into europe, maybe a lot of out of contract players might stay, as the likes of west ham wont be offering european football next season.
If its not broken why the need to fix it. In other words keep the same side that has been doing well the last few matches.
In the modern era i have always found rooney, gerrard & lampard over rated. I judge a player on their ability on how they play for their country & for me, these guys, who might be brill against san marino & countries of that ilk, go missing against the bigger countries. I gave gerrard in particular some slack during the early stages of last years euros, but he went missing against italy & tbh, i didnt know he was playing.
Past footballers who i thought was over rated –
Zidane :woohoo:
just never did it for me & i could never understand the hype. Sorry!!
Cant you get out of it griff. I was due to work over the semi final weekend but have managed to sort it out with my boss. Im also working the weekend of the final too should we get there, & again, have come to a gentlemans agreement with one of my colleagues to swap our shifts for that week.
Hopefully we will seal it soon as i dont want another “survival sunday” :woohoo:
TBH 35, im taking it 1 game at a time. We have now won 2 of my predicted 5 “winnable”
games. 3 more wins should make us ok. QPR will be a massive game & i think we will be up for it as was said by another poster.Could be the next manager if bobby leaves in the summer.
:ohmy:The main reason IMO why we have struggled this season is as a result of the injuries we have had to almost every one of our defence. Its what cost newcastle a few seasons back. But yes, since alcaraz return we do look stronger & i agree with you, alcaraz & ramis would have been a solid line up.
How many do you think, about 2.
2 wins will take some of the pressure off, but 3 will make life easier.
