Absolutely brilliant!!
Shrews maximum total is now 94.
We’re on 90 now with a huge goal difference advantage, so we need just 4 points from the next 4 games.
If we win against Fleetwood and Brizzle, then we could win the title at home against AFC.
And that would be nice. The League wouldn’t officially recognise it though as Blackburn might win their last game 95-0.
Party at Doncaster, and get the trophy there.
Season done :DI think shrewsbury have gone now TBH.
Looking at the teams nominated, surely we are the favourites for this after WHO we defeated.
Morsy is so good at keeping hold of the ball & not losing it. Even when he receives a bad pass he keeps the ball & invariably lays a good pass off.Agree jimmy! I think his performance last night (as well as others obviously) earned him my vote for player of season.
Arguably, to bring morsy back to the club was warren joyce’s best ever decision as latics manager.
Surely that is good management on his part Jimmy?
He came here with a Charlton side ravaged by injury and got a point and he very nearly did last night as well.
Why would he come here, open the game up and try to play free flowing football? They’d have got hammered.
What we need to do is find another way to break sides down that do that. Our home form hasn’t been as good as our away form for that reason.
It is to be fair Egg, and I did say last night that he’s getting the better of Cook tactically in the sense he’s managed to frustrate us & go away with a point. That was before we scored by the way.
I’m no manager but I could predict beforehand the likely outcome of this game. So I was hoping we’d have played with two up front from the off.[/quote]To be fair to cook jimmy, he timed his subs & his formation change to 2 up top at the right time IMO! I think it was right to stick to our usual set up at first. It was obvious it wasnt working & his gamble paid off.
Good decision too, to bring on devante cole. He impressed me in his brief cameo. He could have been greedy & gone for goal himself, but fair play to the lad for squaring it to grigg. He was actually a tad unlucky not to get a goal himself at the end.
Never mind this time next month, this time next week we could be promoted. I doubt shrewsbury will lose against bury at the weekend, but win against fleetwood then bristol & thats it guys & gals.
Well the spoiler tactics never worked in the end. I loved it after we scored how they soon speeded up, & even one of our ballboys was walking at snail pace to retrieve the ball at one point.
Morsy was MoM for me. Had one of his better games.Totally agree
3 points clear at top and 8 clear of third with four left and still some moan. Open yer bloody eyes! For the last 6 weeks we have played twice a week due to our successes in the cup and the lads have looked knackered the last couple of weeks. Eventually it catches up on you quality wise but the character this set of lads have shown week in, week out has been exemplary. Not many teams have hit the 100 point barrier in previous seasons and given the way the likes of Sheffield United and Millwall have made the step up to the championship this season we should be stepping up with confidence. Our goal difference is amongst the finest ever seen at this level and week in, week out the boys have produced results. What a great season it’s been all round.
Very well said bigroy!!!
At this stage of the season its all about points not performances.
Thought that was a load of shit why didn’t we play our strongest 11 then take the players off once we were in the lead and coasting we looked a mid table league 1 team today and nerves got the better of us, play like that next year and We’ll be thumped every week .Fook me mon! At this stage of the season i could not care less if the last 4 games are an exact copy of tonights game. Its points that matter now – not performances. We are technically 4 points clear of blackburn thanks to the goal difference. And we won the game with a few players rested. Happy days IMO!
Your life must be one barrel of laughs.
The day we are crowned champions, they can pitch a tent on the pitch with a tombola and shit like that.Until then, leave it out.
But what about the rugby team vat??
Another great win
I understand about the attraction of Wembley as a venue and all that, but I read yesterday that Shrewsbury had sold 12000 tickets. I am thinking Lincoln will have sold similar, so even with a few neutrals going in, we are looking at a crowd around 30k, certainly less than 40k.What is the point in having folk traipsing down to Wembley for that. Why not play the game at another venue, one that will be near capacity, with some atmosphere, rather than playing in a stadium with 60 odd thousand empty seats? Seems very ridiculous to me.
If that is true vat, i wonder if their local newspaper runs a similar “Pathletic” headline like the one we had in 1999.
Its squeaky bum time.
