What i dont understand with ourselves as a club, is why keep signing strikers who are so used to playing as part of a front 2, to then be asked to play as a lone striker.

We all know that it was martinez who started the whole 1 up top business. Jason scotland was signed for that purpose. Had we have been a championship club upon martinez’s appointment, we would have all been raving how good the guy was. Championship was scotland’s level. Scotland’s problem was that he could simply not cope with the premier league.

Every other striker we have signed since has simply not been able to adapt to the 1 up top system. The only exception is will grigg, who (certainly as a league 1 striker) is proven playing up top on his own.

If we are to persist with the 1 up top, sign strikers (depending on what level we are at) suited to that role.

6 quid they can stuff that robbing gets.

I went down to pay my registration fee yesterday. A £10 payment that all halton residents pay. This then allows unlimited usage over both bridges for the locals. Everyone else has to pay to cross. Though i do think that people who say live in st helens but work in runcorn, can also register.

Was highly impressed with Lee Evans yesterday. Strong, comfortable on the ball and did the simple things well. Excellent cross for Powell’s headed goal, ran the show in midfield and for all the effort

Agree! He is a better version of max power.

Also! It was good to see nathan byrne back. I always liked him until some clown loaned him out.

Positives – Going out there & actually playing to win a game of football. Unlike last season when we played to avoid defeat.

Spot on Runcorn bridge fella !
We’re getting a new bridge in the autumn lostock.
Can we have your old one for over the canal. Ours has never been big enough to get the fans over after a match, especially as there always seems to be someone coming the other way with a bike.
You can have it horc with all the hold ups & traffic jams its had me in over the last 13 or so years.

The old bridge is being shut for 12 months for maintenance, so it will be new bridge only. We should have both bridges up & running by winter ’18.

I noticed in the papers that the average crowd for league 1 over the weekend was around the 8000 mark. Blackburn i think had the biggest at over 12000. So 9000+ is decent.

If we keep up the performances that we have been doing, i could see us getting to 10000 – 11000.

Negatives – Gift of a goal for their equaliser.

Seven games unbeaten; with two competitive wins !

    Gotcha Donny

And still in with a chance of 5 Wembley visits this season.
Make that 4 wembley visits horc. After todays & last weeks performance, top 2 for definite.

He has a point though bullitt. Another who excelled at league 1. Utter sh1te at championship level. Can’t see him bombing down the wing much this season.

Interestingly, would Bogle or Power get in this team?

Probably not JR. I for one was very impressed with lee evans, who looks like a better version of max power.

Whilst i am over the moon with the win, i personally, was more impressed with watching a wigan team play simple, yet attacking, quick & exciting football. Something which irrespective of what league we are/were in, was lacking enormously under joyce & caldwell last season.

Whilst i don’t want to get too carried away, keep hold of powell, burn, morsy & grigg & we should have a memorable season.

Powell morsy and burn crucial we need that transfer window closed they are the backbone to the team.
Our squad is complete and no need to sign any more.

    Not forgetting grigg.

If it wasn’t Sundays crowd will because not many will pay on the day.

£24.00 to watch Bury. Someone is having a laugh ……………..
That sounds an awful lot for a league 1 game. Is this the going rate now for the division we are in. I would say no more than £15 adults & £5 – £10 for kids.
