You can stick your fingers in the ears n LA LA LA LA it if you wan’t …he’s still going m8.
Thanks for pointing out what I did at the start of this thread in the fact we will do very well to keep hold of him…
The aim of my previous comment was to highlight nothing has changed since the start of the thread, yes he wants to play in the Premier league and yes he is still in contract with us hence there is a valuation to be met.
In the same way as he was linked with Everton because he was asked a question about them he is now being linked to Crystal Palace after being asked about them.
If there is no set fee in his contract after relegation then I would value him at the £8-10 Million mark which IMO is a fair price for a decent Premier League forward although I have no doubt he would probably go for closer to £6M depending which of the 20 teams in the PL want him.
Good luck with that. Most these days are more like wingers who try and defend a bit.
It does seem to be the way.
Lots of full backs are good going forward – I once described Glenn Johnson as a sh*te Championship winger – but the world class ones e.g. Alves and Baines are defensively strong when called upon.
I think Boyce can still do a job at RB as part of a back four but Espinoza and Beausajor are more suited to midfield roles.

Nah, I thought he sucked..
We have some tactical experts on this forum don’t we ! How come none of you are employed in football? Personally I would prefer it if every outfield player ran after the ball like back in the Junior school days ! Just a big pack of players moving around the pitch with the odd breakaway ! Football how it was intended to be played !I am no tactical expert by any means but if you stick around long enough at a game you usually get an idea of a players strength and weaknesses ;)
If by some miracle Maloney was persuaded to stay, under no circumstances should he be shoved out on the wing. Putting him out there in the Championshiop would be a complete and utter waste. We obviously dont know what Coyles plans are yet but if push came to shove and he really wanted to play the 4-4-2 you would have to drop Beausajor and play Maloney in a McCulloch type role coming in as a third forward although you would need a strong LB to hold the fort if he is sitting up top alot.
Alternatively I think he could do well playing just behind two strikers but again you would need someone to hold the fort in midfield as with a couple of wingers it would leave us with 5 up front.
Alternatively to that you could play him as one of the two strikers which means pushing Kone up as the front man which IMO is a waste of his better qualities.
If as you say by some miracle we managed to keep hold of him I would like to see us switch between a 4-3-3 and a 4-4-2 at will using Jeany B as a back up plan to get some extra balls in the box if we struggled to break a team down down.
I like our transfer policy.
Managers and players all know where the position in the fact that we wont stand in anybodys way as long as the asking price is met.
Only problem with it is if the asking price is met the day before the start of the season (as has happened in the past) it leaves us in an impossible situation in terms of recruiting a replacement.
I would like to see Whelan set a deadline alongside the asking price.
Kone, Maloney, Mcmanman and McCarthy are all in contract so they can always go in January or at the end of the season for a similar price.
Thoughts ?
I think you’re wrong about Kone and Maloney staying
*Fingers in ears* La la la la la la la
If Maloney, Kone and Mcmanman all stay then surely it would be silly to mess with that front line that seems to work very well and will probably work even better in the championship?
If we lose say Kone and Maloney or any combination out of the three then I am all for switching to a front 2 or whatever Coyle see’s fit.
I stopped reading after “Going off prestige, history & club attendances alone ” as they are the things that suit your argument tylders…
I could easily say going of recent premier league history, current income and european status alone.
Sorry if it went on to be a balanced opinion but I dont have the attention span or inclination for one of your long drawn out disagreemeents today :)
Worst name drop ever!
Maybe we are a Championship club because we were certainly punching well above our weight in the Prem, particularly the last few seasons!
Then why all the criticism of Martinez, Phil?
My only criticism of RM was his obstinacy coupled with his lack of a contingency plan when things were going tits up ! I also don’t think he is the manager that DW has bigged him up to be but I guess time will tell on that front, good luck to him, he is going to need it ! ;)
I have said it before and I will say it again.
How can you call Martinez stubborn? the man changed the formation in our team more times over his 4 years in charge than any other PL club in history!!!
You and certain others seem to hint that because he didnt go sh*t we’re losing right start twatting it up the field to 5ft Maloney he is stubborn.
Its a moronic statement!
And despite most of us being quite prepared to move on from this whole lightside/darkside Martinez affair certain posters seem to revel in it!
I was asked a question and so I answered it not that it has anything to do with you ! Like I said, time will tell to see if he is the new ‘Special One’ he has the pefect opportunity to prove himself now and good luck to him ! :)
Unless you would like to converse with him via PM this is an open discussion ;)
I am forced to reiterate due to your non response.
Roberto Martinez is the least stubborn manager we had in the Premier League.
Now in the spirit of the thread title “It’s Coyle, lets get over it” lets do just that!
We have a manager who I am told will be able to provide attacking threat but bow to your demands of being a little more direct than Martinez.
I am hoping to see a less post critical Phil next season and a less militant me :)

Sorry but I dont agree with the sentiments on this thread that anything other than promotion is acceptable.
We have a very talented squad and one of the best incomes in English football outstide the premier league.
Yes its a tough league but so is professional league in England as can be seen in the cup fixtures every year!
If we lose our better players the funds will be there to replace them.
Maybe I am a little biased but apart from QPR throwing money in your face I cant think of a more attractice prospect than us if you were looking to sign for a Championship this season.
If we think anything less than promotion is the aim for this season then we have already accepted we are a Championship team.
Yes we were always up against it in the PL but 7 out of 8 years we deserved to be on merit not peoples opinions which count for diddle!
If he gets the balance right of keeping certain players e.g. Maloney and Kone
I don’t think those two will stay, I’m afraid
You’re probably right but if they do then surely that can be seen as a massive acheivement for Coyle & the club straight away.
Which I will give him credit for if it comes to pass.
I wont hammer him to the wall if they leave though because it was always on the cards.
