Ian Gillibrand.
Must have been the shortest ever centre-half/centre-back.Harry Lyon also ended his playing days at centre-half. Not many beat him in the air. I think I’m correct in saying he also played in goal.
The sooner Fig goes to left wing back with less defensive duties the better. He is dangerous going forward but sometimes in defence he plays like a 6 year old.
He also passes the ball like 6 year old, or he’s colour blind, or both.
But apart from him not being able to tackle, being frequently caught out of position, constantly giving the ball away, liable to panic and make the wrong decision, he’s not a bad player!
But in my humble opinion was still the pick of our back 3
My post was a tad ironic but nevertheless I’m wondering why you thought he was any better than Caldwell or Alcaraz last night?
I’m better than Caldwell, he is absolute shite and Alcaraz just seems to drift in and out of the game. What the fuck was he doing when City scored??? if you can’t win the header at least make sure the striker can’t.
Thanks for your well reasoned, perceptive and informative response. The sooner Fig goes to left wing back with less defensive duties the better. He is dangerous going forward but sometimes in defence he plays like a 6 year old.

He might not need to wear out his VHS so much.
I’ve never understood why managers don’t watch from higher up, as you must get a better view. Still, not many of them do and they must have their reasons, so I don’t know why we should expect Roberto to be totally different to all the others. and I’ll guarantee that if he did, he’d be slagged off mercilessly for being different ;)
The obvious disadvantage is that they don’t have direct communication with the players and coaching staff. Some managers do or have because I don’t see many of them in the directors box anymore. And they don’t view the match from their elevated position for too long either and always end up on the touchline before the game is too far gone.He cant buy them out i agree with you on that, but you watch in the next few months there will chelsea fans mysteriously dying and vanishing off the face of the earthApparently the police are already investigating the arrival at Stamford Bridge of an unusually large consignment of especially pointy umbrellas and some ricin.
Blimey, according to the bit at the top, I’ve not been on here since 30 November 1999. Time doesn’t half fly.Perhaps it was the John Benson style of management that put you off and the Roberto style that brought you back?
And I will say it again. This lad is the best player to ever grace a football pitch !I think it helps that he plays for one of the best teams ever to grace a football pitch.
Don’t remember him being particularly outstanding in the 2010 World Cup.Missed out on a cracker here, Josh McEachran has gone to Swansea for the rest of the season. Very talented lad.Isn’t he the fellow who won X-factor?
Maybe we should try to persuade Andy Liddell and Arjan de Zeeuw to come out of retirement. Seems to be the current way forward for some clubs.
I haven’t heard any reports of people wearing blue tops being found floating face down in the canal nor any mention of an unusual rise in firearm related deaths in the area so I would say that this defeat has, by and large, been passed over without too much stress by most supporters.
I believe when reviewing a red card appeal the FA always gives any benefit of doubt to the officials. It is in their interests to do so. Kompany’s feet were off the ground when he made the tackle. That is plain to see from the TV footage. Surprisingly, in this instance, Nani didn’t feign death which may be clouding people’s judgement here.
I will be very, very surprised if that is rescinded, assuming City will appeal it, and I may even be persuaded that there is some kind of favouritism towards the big teams should it be so.I don’t think that will be resinded. Doesn’t matter whether contact was made or not, both feet were off the ground so it will be deemed a two-footed challenge.
So you think that is a red card???
Doesn’t matter whether I think that should be a red card or not, the current interpretation of the rules state that any tackle where both feet are off the ground is a red card offence.
There is no way that was a straight red card and it will be recinded.
Let’s wait and see then shall we.I don’t think that will be resinded. Doesn’t matter whether contact was made or not, both feet were off the ground so it will be deemed a two-footed challenge.
