a chubbie and a united fan the worse combination placed upon a human sole
An unrivaled glory-hunting double whammy if ever there was one!
But he doesn’t support his local team – he’s glory-hunted a Premier League team.If you pick Wigan Athletic as your Premier League team of choice I don’t think you can, by any stretch of the imagination, be accused of glory-hunting.
There’s something particularly obnoxious about these so called plastic Man United “fans”. Glory hunters they most definitely are because the majority of them have only ever known success. And I’m not too sure if it’s a father to son thing either. I’d guess that for most of them their fathers either don’t follow football or weren’t interested enough to ensure their kids shared the same allegiance as them.
You can declare to “armchair” Man City, Everton and even Liverpool fans that you support Wigan Athletic and you don’t suffer the same ridicule as that you get from the United lot.
If you know f**k all about football but need??? a team to support then jump on the Manchester United bandwagon. I despise them with a passion.Rooney runs 20 yards and aims an elbow at Macs head seen by the ref – gets a pat on the back.Sammon raises his arms and catches Evans in the face and gets sent off. Described on bbc sport as harsh or an early Christmas present from Phil Dowd for Fergie.
I’d call it BENT!
I recall Paul Jewell once saying (and I paraphrase here), “it’s not that I’ve got anything against Phil Dowd, it’s just that he’s not a very good referee”. Disappointing to be reminded that nothing’s changed.
hoping for a greys prodigy rovong bag with built in cooler section. might treat myself to some TFG or Realtree clobber.I tried putting that into Google Translate but it still didn’t make any sense.
I see Lee is continuing with his long held policy of getting himself sent off at this time of year so he can celebrate Hogmanay in the manner to which he has become accustomed!
I remember 40 years ago clapping Red Star Belgrade off at Anfield when they had played a great game to beat Liverpool in a European tie. When Leeds won the League at Anfield one year they went to the Kop and were applauded. It was common practice then to praise and acknowledge a fine display by an opposing goalkeeper. All that has changed, and I think Liverpool has been the loser in this.Alas, this kind of appreciation has long gone and I don’t think the modern day attitude of slagging off anything that doesn’t directly benefit the individual or collective individuals is necessarily unique to football. This “I’m alright jack” way of thinking started in the eighties and is now firmly entrenched in society. Grab what you can whenever you can. Football seems to reflect this very well.
cannot wait for him to do a bad pass or some other unsuccessful attempt during the game. yet, when he does something good or something comes off right he is quiet as hell.A bit like certain posters on here who are conspicuous by their absence!
Sammy,It seems obvious to me that Keane didn’t want any fuss regardless of his stature, you must give him that. To suggest going to the reception or telling folk who he is diverts from the real issue of this silly database.
I’ll guarantee you if a comparison was made with the other 19 clubs, you wouldn’t get anything as opaque and at least some middle ground (common sense).
The least fuss would have been for him to ring the club and make prior arrangements or call in at reception on the day and access the stadium that way. He could have paid his £25, or whatever it was, regardless.
I agree that common sense wasn’t applied in this case. Maybe the person in the ticket office didn’t recognise him and maybe Roy Keane was pleased about that. What doesn’t surprise me is that he was “a little aggressive towards our staff” so perhaps they though he wasn’t suitable to be let in anyway.I think the club statement explains situation very well and why this policy is in place. The problem is we are not like the other 19 clubs. So, should we ever be in a position were we are, I would expect this rule to be relaxed.
This policy was introduced for perfectly understandable reasons and more than likely forced on the club by the police. On the one hand I can see that they don’t want to be accused of having one rule for the rich and famous and another for the ordinary fan, but to apply the rule to someone like Roy Keane is extremely petty.
Why didn’t Keane go to reception and explain the situation? I’m quite sure he would have been admitted and would probably have got a seat in the director’s box, unless he wanted to make some mileage out of it.I think Alcaraz being available will have a large bearing.
2-2
Isn’t he out for a month with a broken rib or something?[/quote]
I’m not surprised. Shouldn’t be messing about with a large bearing! It seems some Chairmen are finally realising that sacking a Manager is usually counter-productive. Happily Whelan is now one of them.Blimey! You’d better start digging that trench and dusting off your tin hat!
I Simply asked why he would make it up.Because he’s a journalist?
As regards name calling and insults on here i can only agree with Hindley Blue (unless they are rugby fans obviously), its a message board thats full of opinions and you should treat them as just that. I stopped coming on here a few times because of this.Name calling and insults? Seems to me you are the sensitive type.
If Hindley Blue, who is not adverse to dishing out the insults himself and posting bad language on here, can’t take it then he shouldn’t give it. I could have called him something a lot worse; a prick perhaps?
As idiotic statements go, “Gohouri should never have played again after the Bolton game”, is up there with the worst and was deserving of the response it got.
Read what I wrote then tell me how I was abusive towards Gohouri??? because I’ve checked and I can’t see it. Also I like having my opinions challenged thats why I come on here, but how is calling me a knob part of this thread??? If you don’t agree with what I put argue the toss I look forward to it but the name calling, grow up you prick.Oops look what you made me do, not nice is it especially when I don’t even know you. ;)
Still not answered the question though, have you.
