i seem to remember every chance that sunderland had yesterday coming from players in front of defence giving the ball away constantly and both full backs not being tight enough and letting cross after cross to rain in even the penalty came from diame beeing caught in possesion and he was probably our best player on show.
Diame was not caught in possession.
Regarding the penalty, maybe Alcaraz should stop barging into opposing players in the penalty box. He got away with it against Birmingham but not this time.
And it was N’Zogbia who gave the ball away for the 4th goal.”What a difference a goal makes.” I know this wasn’t your point, Sammy, but I’ll take this title a different way.Do you remember the season we stopped up by goal difference? I always look back to the game at Old Trafford when we got a penalty in the last seconds already defeated. We laughed at the time saying “what good was that?”, but it was vital in the end.
Maybe Di Santo’s goal will keep us up. Just a thought like.
Agreed and although only a consolation, the importance of that goal was not lost at the time. At least Di Santo made the effort and put himself in a position to score.
Alcaraz and McCarthy looked like they were carrying injuries.
Watson – once again our best midfield playerMaybe Boyce was carrying a injury? Just a suggestion, like!
Maybe Sammy, but please don’t give any reasoned suggestions, as clearly Martinez doesn’t see what’s happening in games, unlike some of the tactical gurus that post on this forum.
I know. I give up. :angry-banghead:
If anyone deserved being taken of today it was N’Zogbia. He was dreadful.Maybe Boyce was carrying a injury? Just a suggestion, like!
Sad to hear that. It was Allan Brown’s team that got me hooked on Latics back in 1964.
I think it said something along the lines of, “F*** Off Dark Side!”
Oh and for those multi-linguists amongst us, what was written on Hugo’s T-shirt?
Or maybe, like the rest of us, they were enjoying the atmosphere and got carried away by being involved in a football match in the manner in which a football match should be enjoyed.
yeah , it must be great to spend more than what comes in on foreigners who dont give a toss about your shirt & running the business at a constant loss :clap:Yes, isn’t it shocking how some clubs live beyond their means.
I remember a club back in the mid-eighties who signed up all the best players (quite a few of them were foreign mercenaries), paid them exorbitant salaries, more or less won everything in sight for the next ten years but ended up so much in debt that they were forced into having to sell their ground to survive.
They now have to rent a ground from a local Premier League club who, in the event of a fixture clash, can force them to use another club’s ground. That’s not controversial it’s just wrong. How can it be wrong? It’s just my opinion.
I’ve been very impressed with him already. He was a budgies away from getting us a point against City. The pass against Spurs that Di Santo could / should have scored from was pure quality. Against Brum I thought he gave us a massive boost. Before he came on Roger Johnson was strolling around like he was Bobby Moore , then suddenly Sammon was pulling him out wide and knocking him off the ball and it was game on.I don’t disagree with any of that, although it’s a bit harsh on Di Santo to suggest he could/should have scored from that pass.
I have a feeling that when he gets one goal he’ll go on to get a few , he certainly pops up in goalscoring positions. :pray:I’m praying too.
I know he’s currently the crowd’s favorite but I’m going to be a bit controversial here and say that in my humble opinion (obviously), Conor Sammon is, at best, a Championship player. He reminds me very much of Caleb Folan. Having said that I wish the man well and hope he proves me wrong.
He,s been on the pitch for 40 minutes and already your writing him off…… :angry-banghead: :angry-banghead: :angry-banghead: :angry-banghead:
Not writing him off exactly but in that 40 minutes I can’t say I’ve seen anything to suggest he’s going to prove me wrong. I hope he makes me eat my words.I know he’s currently the crowd’s favorite but I’m going to be a bit controversial here and say that in my humble opinion (obviously), Conor Sammon is, at best, a Championship player. Because Real Madrid does it.

An interesting article but I would also have pointed out the following to the Birmingham supporter:-
a) that they (Birmingham City FC) have not really set the footballing world alight given the distinction of being a club in the second largest city in the UK and having only three other comparable clubs within that city.
b) that given the above criteria, a ground capacity of only 30,000 in a city the size of Birmingham is a pretty poor reflection on the ambitions of the club.
c) that the consensus is that Wigan Athletic’s election to the football league, and therefore ultimate worth as a Premier League club, was as a result of the performance they gave in an FA Cup game at Birmingham in 1978 which resulted in Birmingham adding their not inconsiderable weight at the time (Sir Alf Ramsey was their manager) to our successful campaign for league status.
d) that we recently beat them 2-1 after coming back from being a goal down. -
