There were problems and all user accounts were deleted. How we don’t know.

      Sabotage?

I’ve been seen at the DW as well so I must be in with a shout!

I fully expect both Martinez and Jones to be there next season.

I know my past rants on here have never endeared myself to most, but I have always treated it as siblings bickering amongst themselves and when push come to shove we unite as a family.

It could be said that tonight is one of those moments to unite in what some may consider adversity, but it isn’t that, far from it, tonight is a night we embark on a new challenge, re-group and go again.

This week has added to everything I have ever felt as a Latics fan and I can honestly say in nearly 50 years supporting this great little club of ours, I have never been prouder than I am of all of us, club and fans alike.

Sunday will see the closing of this chapter so lets all show what we are all about, wear your colours with pride, no tears, no regrets, little Wigan showing the world what a massive club we really are.

One “positive” from tonight’s defeat and relegation is that we can now enjoy Sunday without the anxiety and tension of a must win game getting in the way. How could we have properly celebrated our FA Cup win and eight years in the Premier League, if you like, with that hanging over our heads. And what if we should have failed to win next Sunday? Parading the FA Cup around the ground after just being relegated? What a joy that would have been!

He is a Warriors fan, Sammy. Oh & a Sunderland fan to boot.

            Yes I know.

Especially sorry for those true fans who are currently wet and miserable coming out of the Emirates.

True fans? Even in your patronising attempt to offer your commiserations you can’t help the snidey dig.

Sorry to see you go? I doubt it very much.

Getting to the Premier League was infinitely better than being there. Let’s hope we can enjoy that feeling again.

And if offered it again I’d still take winning the FA Cup over Premier League survival.

Got back to the car at about 8 o’clock, drank the champagne I’d taken down. No hold-ups getting on the M40 and back in the People’s Republic of Coppull by 11.15 without a stop. In my local for 11.30 for a jolly good time, back home at kicking out time to watch the match I’d recorded on ITV whilst partaking of numerous whiskeys. Oh joy, what a day!

                    Hopefully Gary Caldwell.

Some people need a reality check.

The error apart, bad as it was, I though Caldwell did OK considering he hadn’t played for weeks and is carrying a long term injury which is threating to end his career. He played a great ball through for McCarthy’s goal and had a good header saved which on another night would have gone in. But I suppose people need an “escape” goat and Gary provided it last night.

For those on here postulating who might still be with us next season I’m sure booing the team off at full-time will leave a lasting impression on those players and perhaps the manager who are currently debating their futures.

Paul Scharner putting his finger to his mouth on more than one occasion in the first half asking for the crowd to be less impatient was a poignant reminder of the struggle Martinez has had in trying to change the attitude of Wigan Athletic fans. Maybe we deserve to go down for having the audacity to try and play in that way when in reality they crave for the long ball percentage style football of Allardyce and Pullis.

Irrespective of whether we go down or not what this season has shown is that trying to stay in the Premier League on a tight budget is not really viable. We got away with it last season because key players didn’t get injured, especially during those last nine or ten games.
Once that happens, as we are now witness to, it really is a massive struggle playing twice a week with the bare minimum of a squad made up of players who do not possess the necessary quality.

is shite as I said a few weeks ago and got slated for it HE IS SHITE PAST IT AND NO PACE

Given that had Alcaraz, Ramis and Figueroa been fit to play tonight he wouldn’t have even started, what is your point exactly?

OK, so I was pissed off tonight. Really angry at a defensive display that was, let’s face it, a joke.

Swansea are already dreaming of their holidays and were there for the taking. We failed. Miserably!

But on Saturday I’m going to the FA Cup Final. I’m going to see my team walkout at Wembley in the final of the biggest domestic cup competition there is. My first memory of any game I went to was beating Sheffield Weds 1-0 backing the late 70s when we were still non-league. I’ll be there this weekend hours before the kick off. I’ll be singing Abide With Me, God Save the Queen and savouring every single second of it all. I’ll be doing it with my dad (who took me to that first game at Springfield Park), my brother, my sister, my son, my nephew, my cousin’s daughter, her boyfriend and god knows how many others I know.

I cried when we beat Reading to get promotion to the Premier League. I’d have been more than happy if we’d just had that one season in the top flight. Doubtless I’ll still shed a tear when we are relegated, whenever that may be. I’ve been expecting it every year for eight seasons. If it’s this time around then so be it. I’m going to enjoy Saturday. I’m going to enjoy the game after that and the final one against Villa. I’m going to enjoy next season too and the one after that, whatever level we are at.

I take it you weren’t one of those who felt it necessary to boo at the final whistle then.

We were hanging on at the end, giving the ball away far too easily and survived two pretty nailed-on penalty shouts. It was nail-biting, nerve-rackingly good stuff.

I was born in the United Kingdom, England in fact, Wigan to be more precise. If I was a Wigan Athletic player and Whelan had “instructed” me to wear a black arm band against my wishes and I refused, where do you think I should fuck off back too?
