as much as i cant stand whelan, he has helped this club no end and but for him we could be in stockports possition
but the one big dilemma we will face what happens after whelan ?
there has been no offers for the club no billionaires queuing to buy us
even though whelan has always stated he is open to offers that would safeguard the future of wigan athletic
there is a lack of any interested suitersBillionaires?
If there are any billionaires looking to buy a Premier League club I’m sure Wigan Athletic doesn’t feature on anyone’s shortlist, or longlist for that matter.Bicky – do you ever have any positive thoughts?? :(Spurious adjective alert…!
Alcaraz off injured !!!! :(
Jean B is on Figs back to centre back.
Started really well.
Come on Latics
Did say survival was dependent on kone and alcaraz staying fit … hope he’s back very soon !!!!!!!!!!!!!!
MAMSTRING :woohoo:
Glad it’s not his hamstring then!not really arsed any more been on the cards for a while time for change at the club from top to bottom
some players looked like they couldn’t be arsed
no wembley for me they can do one same as half the team i cant be arsedExcellent! You won’t be missed.
And these are “proper” fans who are spitting out their dummies, not wives and friends of season ticket holders.
Season ticket holders paid money up front not ever expecting that we would get to a Wembley final.
Over the years there have been all sorts of offers for non-ST holders, that they didn’t get.
I think it’s correct that ST holders get a good deal this time.
So are you saying someone who never goes near a WAFC match but happens to be married or friends with a season ticket holder is more entitled to a Wembley ticket than a life long fan who can only afford a few games a season or fans living in different parts of the country who only manage a few games every season ?
It isn’t a question of what someone is “entitled” to it’s purely down to what is practical. By limiting season ticket holders to one ticket each you run a very real risk of not selling out your allocation.
Just to repeat what has already been said many times, I’m quite sure any Latics “supporter” who wants a ticket will get one.Block 104 is RED – the only one we’ve been allocated – £115.
Blocks 105 and beyond are BLUE – £85. Block 105 offers almost the same view as 104, but the tickets are £30 cheaper.
At the semi-final, the people in the red blocks were given plastic ponchos because they were sitting out in the rain. You’ll just have to settle for a blue block, a dry seat and £30 extra for beer money.
Wembley was an inhospitable place for the semi-final. If that awful wind and rain continue, will they consider closing the roof?
The roof was closed. That’s as far as it goes, and it’s permanently “closed.” It can open more.
So the default setting is closed, or as closed as it will go?
Under what circumstances do they “open” it then? The difference is players who are on twenty grand a week and those on two hundred grand a week.
Sammy, can I ask, are you pretty much bald and have sold programmes on eBay?If so, I think I came and picked one up off you. You live in Standish? (I sold it on, Wigan v Newcastle from 54, to none other than Chris boughey, a top latics fan)
You have me mixed up with someone else Dave. I have not sold programmes on e-bay nor do I live in Standish. Neither am I follically challenged and given my age and family history doubt I ever will be!
Lucky gate, I say!
You’re absolutely right Dave.
On the way down from block 502 after the game – and it was a long way down – I was chatting and reminiscing with no other than the legend that is Tommy Gore. I overheard quote a few people say, “who’s that bloke with Sammy?”.
I think you need to sit an exam on Latics history before you can qualify for a ticket.
Just two blokes gassing!
And according to the Tory press we can all thank Thatcher for the way football fans are treated today!
Going to Blackpool in the FA Cup in 1979 was the first time I can recall being fenced in at a football ground and distinctly remember thinking if anything was to happen here, how do I get out.
For some getting seriously pissed and/or high is the objective of the day and the football is merely a distraction. From where I was sat on Saturday that was all too evident.
I was due to play a game on Laithwaite Park that day. It had been frosty the night before and I was desperately trying to get hold of a referee to call it off in time so I could go to Maine Road. Managed it in the end after knocking on a few doors and persuading one to come out and do the necessary.
