A young woman gets a job in a hardware store and it’s her first day behind the counter.
A man walks in, goes up to the young lady and says, “I’d like a bastard file please”.
The girl runs off into the back of the shop sobbing her eyes out.
The manager asks what the matter is.
“There’s a man in the shop and he’s swearing at me”.
“Swearing at you! We’ll see about that” and the manager promptly confronts the customer.
“What’s all this about you swearing at my staff?”
“Swearing?” says the man. “But I only asked for a bastard file”.
“I’m very sorry sir”, replies the manager. “She’s new to the job and doesn’t yet know all the technical terms”. He gives the man his file.
The manager then explains to the girl that there is such a thing as a bastard file.An hour later another man comes into the shop. “I’d like a file please”, he says.
“A bastard?” asks the girl confidently.
“No, one of those little fuckers in the window will do”, says the man. You’re a very brave lad putting that photo on here, Donners. It’s symptomatic of his copy and paste affliction. He can’t help it.
They could do a lot worse.
I thought this was an interesting comment by Oliver Holt in today’s Mirror:-
I spoke yesterday to a midfielder who plays for a club that finished in the bottom half of the Premier League last season.
He laughed at the criticism that had been aimed at James Milner and Ashley Young.
He pointed out that Roy Hodgson had effectively asked them to play at full-back and on the wing – and that the demands placed on them had been almost impossibly high.
He said the same applied to Wayne Rooney, who was asked to drop deep and track back.
He insisted that if Rooney had been in the Italian team, he would have been the best player on the pitch.
Then he laughed. “The funniest thing about it,” he said, “was that they were having to do exactly what we have to do when we play United and City.”
If only I had a pound for the amount of times, today, I heard….“better to have gone out last night than to have been totally humiliated by the Germans”.
However, like someone here may have already mentioned – quite frankly I really wasn’t that @rsed about it all after the shambles of the time wasting appointing the new manager; what I can see though are the building blocks for the future. Roy has blooded some youth and there are, in my opinion, some fine young players still waiting for their breakthrough into the senior team. Roy has a couple of years to learn from the lessons of this competition and adapt accordingly.
I suppose what I am saying is that I am quietly excited about a young, enthusiastic, patriotic team in the future.
Not too sure I share your optimism there Micky, especially with Roy as manager. I think your mate Mr Holloway might have been a better shout but that’s never going to happen. The after match interviews would have been interesting though.
Are you really surprised?
I expect them to be able to pass the ball to each other.
Really?
How many teams pass the ball about in the Prem (a la Barcelona)?
Better still how many are any good at it?
And those that are, how many of the players are English?
All the players in that England team tonight were from club sides that are considered to be good at passing the ball and keeping possession. So at a basic level I think it is reasonable to expect that they should be able to pass to a team-mate and then put themselves in a position to be able to receive the ball back. Are you really surprised?I expect them to be able to pass the ball to each other.
Is that really the best we can do?
Embarrassing!
I lost interest and stopped reading after the words, “The media seem to think”.
Not sure Victor will be of much use in any negotiations – he can’t string three words together. Best to leave it to his agent, I reckonObviously, as Victor would say!
…..or agents!
Not even opened your link, but don’t tell me there’s a Juan??Not Juan but a name Mr & Mrs Rooney didn’t feel the need to discard.
Nor way are we starting this on another thread. Just Finnish it now.Norway.
