      Spot on JR.
If you remember too Williams was down injured when the board went up.
But Morsy signalled “hang on” to see whether Williams needed to go off, considering that something different may be needed.
He did go off – but Gelhardt was still subbed. Cook had made his decision, and come hell or high water Gelhardt was coming off for Jacobs, no matter what the impact of Williams having to go off was going to make to teh formation. Incredibly stubborn – or else unable to think “on the hoof”.

It could be another ‘Three are worse than us season.’

Pundits are saying how good the Championship is, but to be honest I think the quality all round is pretty poor. Wednesday tonight were poor, and I can’t remember any teams that made me sit up and admire.
I certainly haven’t seen any teams that are “Premier League-in-waiting”

It hit his head and went in.

          Actually it didn’t.
You could see he definitely flicked it back.
          A skilful goal.
Like others, I was on the point of saying to my son that you could never see Lowe scoring, and he does that!
And to be fair, the team showed some passion in teh second half after a poor first half, and they genuinely seemed delighted at the end.

I hope this is nothing more than a rumour. If not, how many fookin midfielders does he want ??

Well considering many contributors here spend their time slating the midfielders we have for going sideways and back, maybe we’re looking for one who can make a difference and get the ball quickly forward to our striker(s) as you all keep asking for.

If a player is good enough and worth his place in the team a competent manager is one who has the ability to handle a bad attitude and change a poor temperament.

So you’d pick a player who has a reputation of being good but either doesn’t turn up to training, or only trains half-heartedly, mouths off all the time over someone who turns up every day enthusiastically and works their hearts out?

The fitness regime at Sunderland sounds similar to what we had under Coyle.
You could see week by week the squad becoming less fit.

The point that John makes is spot on, as I have mentioned elsewhere.
                      This isn’t just bad luck.
The only way I can rationalise it is that the team aren’t really understanding the changes and what that means for them individually. There is obviously confusion, and until they understand what is required we remain vulnerable.
                      Why?
                      Three options:
                      1. These things and possibilities aren’t being discussed and planned and plotted during the week (“if we are down we will have an attacking formation and X and Y will do this etc”)
                      2. If a change is made that falls outside these pre-planned changes (and there will be many times that happens) then no-one on the pitch is being informed what it means (when we’re making changes is Morsy there finding out what the thinking is particularly if we’re changing formation other than like-for-like changes? Does anyone ever see players being given instructions?
                      3. A possibility that can also be alongside 1 and 2 – the players are too thick to understand what is required

AC Milan? THE AC Milan that’s one of the top teams in Europe?

                        Really?

Where do you get these rumours from? They’re hilarious.

We didn’t play to his strengths (surprise, surprise)
His pinpoint accuracy from set-pieces is legendary – but we carried on with Evans and Jacobs taking corners.

Its also a possibility that sacking Cook after relegation means his payout is 40% less.

What we would then need actually is a proven manager at L1 level.
And we have him. No need to pay anything out.

You see this is how Latics need to do it.

Similarly aren’t some Wiganers just content with their lot ?

Our lot being a lower end Championship team, or maybe a top end League One team.
Where do you think we should be aiming?
I think virtually everyone knows that we punched well above our weight in the Premier League, and the financial muscle now needed to get back there is well beyond all but a few.
I actually think “our lot” isn’t too bad.
Yes, it’s frustrating, but I don’t think you can call our position in the scheme of things a “lot” to be content with.
