Right gents. I’m going to put down a little marker here.
This thread is about the potential of us playing a friendly at Ibrox. Nothing more, nothing less. News whether a game is actually on, who will play, what will be the (footballing) significance etc, in the same was a we may discuss if we were playing Zaragoza or Besiktas.
Please don’t go into discussing the “rights and wrongs” of the issues that we know mushroom when discussing domestic football in Glasgow. I moderate a few football groups on Facebook and every time there is a picture of Ibrox or Celtic Park put up then the floodgates open, and at least five people get banned every time from both sides of the divide.
So religious politics is off limits here too please.
Stick to Latics related football matters.
6th July sounds very Friday night, 7th sounds betterThere are “Walks” in Glasgow on the Saturday
In fact it is quite controversial because they will be parading right through an area being used for a festivalhttps://www.glasgowlive.co.uk/news/glasgow-news/orange-order-march-will-go-13831848
Always baffles me how folk can base their entire knowledge and views of a club on the views of 4 to 5 keyboard warriors on a fansite!I was talking about the fans at their games
My view too, donny.
I found Shrews up themselves and rather unpleasant, whereas Rotherham fans I’ve found to be OK.Craven Cottage is a tidy ground too, John. Wouldn’t have minded a trip there too.
By all accounts IEC will pay roughly £16.5 million upfront then topped up with a £6.5 million loan, that doesn’t sound like a company who are gonna throw money at money
Why dont people just wait and see how things develop. We needed a new investor and we have got one I wish people would stop bleating before they have something to bleat about. Has Dave Whelan let us down over the last 20 years ?
Precisely. The Whelans are not willing to put any more in – and why should they? They have already done far more than anyone else in their position would have.
So the options open to us are find a little local businessman (Ian Lenagan anyone?) who won’t have anything like the resources needed and may just about keep the club alive — maybe. In the National League.
Or hang on for the ride?
I know which I’d prefer.Season ticket card holder – like bus pass holder, but with two compartments, one for season ticket one for supporters club card
Not belittling it by any means, but if they have a printer that can print on card then it’s just the same as printing out a paper ticket.
But still, I’m impressed we’ve got it. Well done.In the Europa League final it was hoofed upfield
Precisely, TL.
My grandson (he’s 6) played a game at the weekend, and they usually (because of their age) lump it forward from kick off to be able to run onto. If they play it backwards it’s disastrous :)
However the other team were moaning “you can’t kick it forward at kick off” :(At least there is no ambiguity whose stadium it is
Owned by the Whelan family but the council have a substantial stake also.
Substantial? Not at all.
Post completion Stadco will be made up of 25.5 million ordinary A shares (A shares have most voting rights) in the hands of the new owners, while the Council will have 4.5 million ordinary B shares.
The differences between ordinary A and ordinary B shares will be laid out somewhere, and usually entail far different voting rights, but even if we say that the voting rights will be the same then the new owners will have a 5:1 majority of shareholding in the stadium alone. The Council’s holding will mean nothing, I’m afraid. At least there is no ambiguity whose stadium it is
It was a fix. The England SF was supposed to have been at Goodison, only for FIFA to change it to Wembley, saying “the most attractive fixture should be at Wembley”.
Still hugely rankles on Merseyside.
And to confirm – it was Uruguay v France at White City, because Wembley was hosting greyhound racing (unbelievable now), and Portugal beat NK 5-3 after being 3-0 down.So how does that fit with FFP if the money is primarily from a donor?
