And folk on here like to quote our previous managers as good back up for not giving the likes of these 2 a good chance in the team.

Quality were desperate for, gone and succeeding elsewhere. We’ve been clueless at this club for some time now when it comes to giving the right players a chance.

It’s a case of where would we be now if everyone listened to me

I do reckon you would have signed a defender when we needed them.such as a Certain John Stones,A bargin for 3 mil. When Everton may draw very good money for him.If only we had payed the asking price of Barnsley. ;)
Martinez knew where he himself would be come the end of that season and so with hindsight it is no surprise that Stones swerved coming to Wigan and went to Everton! He didn’t play at all until the following August when Martinez was manager, you do the math! :)
Or maybe Stones saw Everton as a bigger club, offering higher wages, and with less chance of being relegated….

Shite again. Hardly any goal threat, dodgy defence, hesistant keeper, 33-1 odds on relegation looks a great price.

As low as 2-1 for promotion? The bookies seem to have no fucking idea! Bet Victor still offering 33’s for the drop if you fancy a flutter!
Can I explain how this betting malarkey works Fil?

The bookies odds are based on 46 games, not 2, you also never see skint bookies, so yes they do have fekin clue.
Let’s reserve any serious judgement for when the season is in full swing and GC knows his best starting 11.
Today’s match saw more partnerships building, there was some great link up play in all parts of the pitch. Chances were created, but it just isn’t happening yet. Once GC stops this suicidal at times, short ball from the keeper and gets it punted up field,we will start to win games I’m sure. It’s better to be challenging for seconds in the opposition half of the field, than being closed down in our own third.
Today I was impressed with Jacobs[again], James [best game so far], Kenny, Junior, Power, Perkins and Grigg. The negatives were O’Connell [when is he going to come off his line to collect a corner / cross], Morgan and Barnett.

Far too early to right um off and far to early to think they will challenge for promotion.
You said something similar last season to me and I picked up a cool £450 ! Kerching!!We know you loved Bobby and his footballing ethos but it won’t work in League One! If you think 2-1 is a fair price for promotion then you my friend are more deluded than I thought!
It worked for Bobby last time he was in that division!

It was probably the first time in my 37 years of watching latics that i never knew any of the starting 11 bar barnett & mccann. I too had a knob sat behind me who shouted “absolute sh1t” in front of his 5 year old son at the end of the game. IMO it is a brand new team with a brand new manager that needs to be given time to gel. My only concern was the passing back to the keeper which almost nearly ended in a goal to them. Clearly caldwell has obviously learned this from martinez. I agree also with the comment made about the loanees. If these guys were here for the seasin then fine, play them. But, if they are only here for a month then dont play them & give OUR lads the chance to play & gel with the 1st teamers.
Overall i would give us a 6 out of 10. Plenty of reasons to think we will be fine, but still a lot of work needed to be done.

Completely understand why they play from the back. If the keeper hoofs it out every time he gets it, chances are, around 50% of the time you’ll just be handing it stright to the opposition.

But, if you’re playing it out from the back, the last person you want to give it to is Barnett.

At the top of the page; that Ziering hair transplant ad thingy ?

The top of my page is Villa rental in Spain for Summer 2016 – which is what I was looking at earlier.

You must have been Googling hair transplant pages.

Welcome back all you Bobettes; gone by Christmas ?

      Your persistence with this shows no sign of receding LHL marrer, thing is you may be right. I don’t see Everton being patient with him this season if results are not good.
You’re right. His persistence shows no sign of receding. Despite making himself look like a tw@t two years ago, he’s still banging on about it!
No need to get personal, Standish Wanker !
You are easy fodder and take the bait every time !

P.S most of the West Stand think you are a Wanker anyway.
Yep you’re right. I take the bait and get battered into submission every time.

But I’ll take a bit of pride from that post. Clearly I’m known to a few thousand people.

I would imagine approximately half the team that played on Saturday didn’t go to Spain and only joined up at some point in Scotland, wheras the likes of Waghorn & Tavernier did go and got their season off to a flyer at a different club.

We did too much chopping and changing pre-season, for our pre-season to be anything like effective enough on the first week of the season proper, no matter when it started and how many matches were played. It really is that simple.

You’re most probably right, but that’s down to the amount of incoming and outgoing transfers and the time it took to finalise these transfers rather than a poorly planned pre-season schedule – which is what Donny is suggesting.

How about a dozen games spread amongst a squad of over 25 giving players match time.

Virtually every club from League Two to Premier League plays 5 or 6 pre-season games.

Wigan have played 5 in front of paying sypporters, and 2 during their training camp in Spain.

So they’ve done exactly the same as everyone else.

OK boys let’s all bow down to Tony Pulis. Suppose having a cash turnstile is a shit idea too?

No that’s a very good idea.

The ‘Blind Faith’ I referred to was one of accepting anything thrown at us instead of protesting against certain decisions the club has made and they have made some fuckin howlers of late! I really do believe that the Malky Mackay business had a terrible adverse effect on the club and it was the decision to bring him to the club that was the final nail in our coffin in my humble opinion! Some of us spoke out about our concerns but the ‘Blind Faith’ told us to get behind the club and stop fucking moaning! Had we protested against the appointment of Mackay maybe we could have prevented that second drop! So therefore ‘Blind Faith’ or ‘Silent Majority’ isn’t necessarily a good thing. This sorry state of affairs could and should have been prevented!

After Whelan had backed Mackay and got himself into trouble, I doubt anything would have convinced him to sack him, as stubborn as he is.

It took Whelan’s resignation for it to happen.

Going to be hard one. Loanees won’t be playing (another reason for not having them). Bury players will actually know each other and played together before. No doubt Caldwell will be using the game to give his journeymen some game time (what should have been done in a proper pre season) but I guess on a well earned nil-nil draw after ninety minutes or a two nil to Bury. But it will just be a practice run out that nobody is worried about apart from 30,000 or so people who went to Cardiff.

I’m keen to know what one of these is….

Common sense at last. Cash turnstiles open for both East and West stands. Hopefully this will be followed by us finding out two strikers will start and the copycat Bob tactics will end.

    Following last night’s game:

‘West Brom manager Tony Pulis conceded that he employed the wrong tactics in playing two strikers – Rickie Lambert and Saido Berahino.

“I said to the players after the game I have to take responsibility for this one. I played Saido Berahino and Rickie Lambert and that left the midfield too open. It went against the principles I have always worked to and it has given me a rude awakening. ‘
