And regardless how many millwall ‘fans’ were there I bet you still didn’t say it should be at somewhere like Maine Rd that held 30k.
As you say vat I had utd and liverpool rammed down my throat so I have a hatred for them. Hardly makes me any less of a ticsmon.
As for city, course their crowds have gone up but they still got 32k in league one and 38k when they were crap and moved to the etihad.
It is yeah. Obviously Duke and Roberts were class and it shows how blessed we were in that rise to the PL with some of the players we had. Ellington, Liddell and Horsfield weren’t bad and of course Jones and Lancashire in 96/97.
Personally though that front 3 of Haworth, Barlow and Lidds is my favourite. In fact that whole team in 2000 is one of my favourites and as Haworth said himself it’s amazing we didn’t actually go up that year.
Technically we didn’t play 4-4-2 when Haworth, Liddell & Barlow were playing for us. It was a front 3 with Liddell given a licence to roam

Best strike force I have seen at Latics.
This is going to be a bit controversial but from recent times one of the most gifted players of the ilk of Powell that I can think of is Per Frandsen.
His Latics career was curtailed not long after it started, but from what I saw he looked class.Frandsen was superb. He absolutely dominated West Ham at Upton Park in the win down there and really looked the business.
Fully agree Nunny. Personally I am a Wiganer and want us to be the biggest name in world sport. Both clubs winning at Wembley in 2013 was a dream come true.
You are spot on fan wise too. In the 80s tics men rightly hated the rugby. The modern tic has no reason to. Rugby fans believe the rugby town nonsense and no matter how many facts you put in their way they refuse to budge. One actually told me that if you asked anyone in the world to name 5 rugby teams they would all name Wigan. Not a chance in hell. That wouldn’t even happen in London let alone Durban.
The average rugby fan embarrasses me TBH but I am Wigan through and through regardless of the sport.
Not me. Im a Tics mon at the Tics and a rugby mon at the rugby. I defend the other though when idiots start spouting crap.
As for people who wear the other, a little kid near me at rugby always wears a Latics jacket. I high five him and say Up the Tics as I walk past.
I would probably say at the minute that the hatred is stronger on the rugby side. The hope of Latics vanishing hasn’t happened, they control the stadium and despite their best attempts Latics are the bigger name nowadays.
Luckily the powers that be seem to want to support both. Sharpy will have the game on the TV in his box thats for sure.
Got to admit though Ally he is consistently keeping up with his goal scoring prowess he started at Sunderland.
Imagine the stick Will would get or remember what Will got from some of our fans for just putting a shift in.If we weren’t scoring any goals then there probably would be some stick. Midfield and defence bailing him out in some ways.
