The game shouldn’t have been played Friday. The amount of standing water on the pitch (evident from pictures) should have seen it called off and it probably would have been had it not been for Sky.
There is one reason and one reason only why the pitch is always knackered and that’s the location. Hull and Huddersfield don’t have the same issues which rules out both sets of fans beliefs that’s it’s the others fault.
This is the warmup

Any idea when (or if) we last did this post 1978?
Its the first time in our history that this has happened according to the match report on the official site.
Bloody rubbish Wigan
I’M useless at pasting links .Went on Crewe vital forum.Had to laugh when I opened the first post ” colclough” from paddockrefugee. So few words says so much !!! Have a look.Tickled me anyway.
If you’re on Facebook look at both the Crewe and Chesterfield boards :)
Let me guess, they both crap and good riddance?
Really not seeing that.
Is yours Max Power Papa?
Valencia and a Thriller era Michael Jackson was always the one for me.
The problem is that Evertonians seem to think that this is the 80s and that they’re a big club who should be in the top four every year. Problem is that whilst they may be able to beat the teams like City, Arsenal, Spurs, Chelsea, Utd and even Liverpool now and again they can’t do it consistently because realistically they are poles apart.
Bobby made a cock up saying he would get them into the CL but what is a new Manager supposed to say in his press conference “Well lads if we’re honest you’re all pretty deluded if you think anyone can get you into the top four every year so basically all I can do is get you a few wins over the big sides and the odd European push, but it will be mostly mid-table shite because that is the club you are whether you deluded idiots like it or not.” Hardly win the fans over that will it?
I think they’ll go through tonight and if he beats Liverpool at Wembley then he’ll be a hero such is the fickle mind of the football fan. Being scouse just makes it worse.
I said at the start of the season that 3 points at home and a point away will see us promoted so in that sense you’d have to be happy.
Yes on paper we should have won the game and it was disappointing not to turn our dominance into more goals, but has as already been said this season sides will up their game more against us than anyone else because we have the biggest budget in the league.
My biggest disappointment though is that with Burton losing and Walsall drawing we lost a chance to close the gap to just 3 points between us and the top two. We need to get into that top two and then I think once we do we won’t come out.
In a predominantly results orientated business, what do people see as being “exciting football”?
I’m bored watching most football games nowadays TBH so 3 points is my main concern. I’d rather say the game was crap but we won compared with enjoying a defeat.
Makes us shite then if they are shite the way they skipped and waltzed past our mid field and defence three times with ease.Sheffield actually had 21 shots at goal compared to our 18 whilst we had 51% of possession compared to their 49%
Depends what website/paper you read
Old enough to notice he got the right tools?.but some how making a job drag out?I can’t believe you took the bait there.Garswood.
Maybe it’s because he’s been a manager for less than a season?
Not an expert on these things, but I reckon he’s doing a half decent job considering he’s a complete novice.
Definitely. He has made changes that have won us games a few times. Yesterday you could argue he got it wrong and it cost us. Even SAF made mistakes.
Personally, I would have brought Kellett or James on for Perkins and moved McCann into the middle. Once he was booked he was never going to be moved inside though.
The crowd wanted Yanic to come on and maybe that clouded his judgement when Hiwula may have been a better option.
It was a poor result given the way the game went, but as I’ve said we’ve stole a few this year so that was our return. We need to make sure going forward that we don’t let it happen again.
I still have to be convinced about Grigg. He needs too many chances to score, lacks close control and is too lightweight to play the lone striker role. The deficiencies are there to see. I expect them to be sort out this month.
He scored with his first chance last night ;)
I get you though. Point is, if he scored every time he wouldn’t play for Wigan or be in League One.
I think the decision not to put McCann in the middle was down to him being booked. Last thing we wanted to happen at 3-2.
“However a lot of the players that played tonight, if I was them, I would be worried about my place.”
Who gets the chop then?
For all that criticise Perkins for doing nothing, I think you found out tonight exactly what he does for the team.Exactly. We fell apart when he went off. Their ‘keeper was their best player by far. Should have been well over at half time. Granted it should at 3-0 too but we’ve stolen points in games this year so swings and roundabouts.
