I said my season ticket was back on hold because the Boyce business has me thinking that there will be worse to come! I am not a blind faith merchant who would fork out the best part of £350 if a totally shite squad was assembled on the cheap
Nothing to do with being a “blind faith merchant” for me. More to do with being a Wigan Athletic fan no matter what league we are in, what players play for us and who the manager is.
Christ, the squad in my first season was dreadful.
Well the players coming back will probably be on reduced wages as per their contracts and the 15 we bring in will be on league one wages.
We obviously feel that Boyce will offer valuable experience but will be nothing more than a backup player, and so we don’t want to commit to a big pay packet when we’re trying to sign 15 other players within our budget.
I’m on the fence with this. Fully agree with those saying it could have been handled better, but I’m fully aware that we can’t throw money around willy nilly.
It’s sad, but business is business as they say.
Oh dear
We aren’t going to have one of these for every player are we?
2) If Latics had to play a competitive match at LSV for whatever reason, let alone a major cup match, I guarantee it would be a sell-out.Not quite sure on that one. Our attendances for cup games are woeful.
I’m surprised and disappointed that they haven’t retained Kwist and Kim, unless neither wanted to stay, of course. Both a shame as you say.
They have the money and name to throw at players. We need to get players cheap and sell high. If we can develop them ourseleves then we can raise the price.
So do you want to be a ‘buying club’ who has to spend money to bring players in, or one that develops their own and in turn sells them on at profit?
Of course it could have been worse. We might not have had eight seasons watching many of undeniably the most famous sporting stars in the world play our little team in our stadium. And on occasion seen our little team beat them.
We might not have won probably the most famous sporting trophy in the world – in a game which was watched by an estimated half-a-billion people around the world
(source: http://www.express.co.uk/sport/football/398586/More-than-half-a-billion-people-will-watch-FA-Cup-final)We might never have played away games in Belgium, Russia and Slovenia.
We might not have the realisation that we can actually work our way back to seeing those world superstars again in just a few seasons – rather than be at the top of our sport now and drawing less than 5,000 to a game played 5 miles away from our normal home stadium.
We could play a sport that is not plastered over every newspaper and TV channel.
Yeah, but Wigan is a rugby town.
I’d still rather be in the cup mutty
Said before the game we would be lucky if there is 5k on. I’ve literally just got back now. That second bus was late
one minute DW is a tyrant who steals money out the club. The next, he doesnt even pick our manager.
Shocked
Queens Park Rangers will not be barred from the Championship despite being accused of breaching Football League regulations.
QPR are alleged to have spent more on salaries than rules allowed when they were in the division two seasons ago.
The London club have been relegated from the Premier League after just one season back in the top flight
Not too fussed about the league cup, happy with the rest.
