How many facts need to be shown to you regards DW before you stop banging that drum?
We finished mid table in Division 3 in my first season back in 94. Finishing anywhere in the top two divisions is an incredible rise and I’m glad I got to see it. I’m more glad that even if we do go down I will still have a football club to support for years to come. Back in 94 that was a bigger dream than being in the top divisions.
Well whichever way you look at this thread, Coyle ended up having better managerial statistics pro rata than Martinez and so case closed !
And yet your complaint is that Martinez left!
Martinez – the manager with no Plan B – resigned to go to a bigger and better job at Everton.
Coyle – the manager with no plan – was sacked. Last month he was appointed head coach of Houston Dynamo.
Poor old Owen having to live and work in Houston, I bet he rally yearns for freezing cold piss wet days on the training ground at Standish LG.
Can he get Irn Bru out there though and what is the standard of ping pong table like?
Even the Stadium staff were on contracts that reduced their wage if we were ever relegated.
If that’s the case, with what I hear D. Whelan pays his stadium staff, the poor fuckers will be doing it as voluntary work if we go down again this year.
Don’t think it relates to the concourse and waiting staff, but it does to the office staff and groundsmen etc
Nobody will be on that at Wigan. Maybe in the PL but not the Championship.
That figure was meant as a combined weekly wage for the both of them. 15k – 20k a week wont be too far away considering both these were with us in the prem. I assume they would still have the prem contracts even though we are in the Championship (for now).
I get you.
Most contracts had relegation clauses in them. Even the Stadium staff were on contracts that reduced their wage if we were ever relegated.
Nobody will be on that at Wigan. Maybe in the PL but not the Championship.
Lets hope the lads who can’t get a game at our relegation rivals do the job for us.Shaun Maloney couldn’t get a game for his in his first six months.
Scott Sinclair didn’t get a game for us at all and then ended up being Swansea’s player of the year and signing for City.
Patrick Van Aanholt couldn’t get a game but is doing well at Sunderland.
Things work at some clubs for some players and not others. Take Delort and Riera for example.
IF we do go down with these players then you can come on here and claim you were right all along and DW f*cked up etc etc but let’s at least give Malky the chance to get HIS players in and pick HIS team. At the minute he has a bunch of cast offs from the previous Manager who failed miserably in the transfer market.
Sounds like he could fit in well with Kvist who has really impressed me in the last two games.
His kicking is woeful. I don’t know why our forwards bother standing in the middle of the pitch, they may as well stand on the touchline as that’s where it tends to go.
Well whichever way you look at this thread, Coyle ended up having better managerial statistics pro rata than Martinez and so case closed !Apples and Oranges
How many including recent departures would you say are nailed on has regular starters for the first xi judged on performances this seasonMcClean
Perch
McCann
Carson
Kvist (and he’s only played last couple of weeks )
Exactly. TBH I would pick Ali above Carson. I think Carson has played well and saved us plenty of times, but I’m more confident with Ali between the posts.
McClean and Perch will clean up at the awards dinner though at the minute.
This clear out is one thing but to dress it up as being only about people who want to play for the club still being here insults my intelligence but looks like most have you have bought into it.
Some achievement in itself.
I wish I was the only clever enough to see what’s really going on at the club. Go you!
they’re taking the piss saying we’re left with those who want to play for the club. Anyone belieiving that should be sectioned, those same people are still backing a manager with 1 win, no tactics and no clue.
We’ve sold our best players, were left with shite we couldn’t sell on cash in the attic bar 2 or 3
So Tez, would you prefer us to go down the QPR route? spend money we don’t have break the leagues FFP rules. As for the players who have departed has it occurred to you that those signed by Rosler may have spat the dummy coz he has gone and who may be showing Malky total petulance and disrespect for the club?. Is it not too much of a coincidence that most of Rosler,s summer signings have not lasted 2 minutes?. I’m behind the gaffer on this one If you don’t want to be a Wigan player then fook off quickly now. Macca, Maloney and Watson will obviously think they are above Div 1 so would have gone no matter we tried. Where we could learn a lesson maybe is not to have so many players out of contract at the same time. Why not give Malky the chance to sort this mess out which in reality is not his fault. We are in a healthy position off the field even if we are in dire straits off it but if you was around in the early Nineties when the buckets and blankets were going round then you will understand why Mr Whelan is rightly steering the good ship Latics in it’s present course. It has been said before on here that we don’t see what Malky does on the training ground and it may be the case that he feels these players need to leave the club in order for us to progress. Time will tell Tez and if he fails after the clearout I am sure the board will act accordingly.
No you are completely missing the point.
We are being told what we will be left with is who we need here. 100% up for the cause.
I say bollocks, what we have left here has little or no value.
If somebody can tell me who these players are, bar McClean and Waghorn, maybe McCann. who will suddenly develop all the attributes we need then I’m all ears.
To blindly just toe the club line and say, “well they must be right that we had to sell all of these players because none of them wanted to play for us” is nonsense.
Maybe we are better off selling these lads from a financial point of view with the definite prospect of relegation. My point is we could get out of this with the decent players we have, in fairness to them, I thought we were coming to a bit but if we couldn’t do it with the lads who have gone. What chance now?
I’m not after bankrupting the club, just trying to stay in this division with the best of what we had, not the shite that we’re left with and what we appear to be bringing in.
We are bringing players in though. Players that want to play for us.
Yes I would much rather have Shaun Maloney and Callum McManaman here with their talents. The problem being that we aren’t seeing those talents because they don’t give a toss. We could keep them here if we so wanted but it would do us no good whatsoever.
We also have to let players go as we have a massive squad at the minute with some players who wouldn’t get a game if we put our third team out. They will go with no replacements being brought in.
None of us are happy at this situation and none of us will be happy if we go down, but it really isn’t as straightforward as keeping him, him and him and replacing the manager every three weeks.
“There’s been a lot of interest in Callum over the last few weeks, but I have made it clear that we need a squad of hungry players who are 100% focused and committed to the job here. There comes a point where you have to do what’s best in terms of the player progressing in his career and what is financially the most beneficial for the club.a bit more interesting
Yep. He said similar about Maloney as well.
Constant comment from Mackay seems to be ‘the deal is in the best long-term interests of the club’.
Interesting.
Being linked with Max Power from Tranmere cue the puns
He’s the man who’s name you’d love to touch……………but you mustn’t touch.

Quality. I wonder if he’ll have his full name on his shirt? Max Power doesn’t abbreviate.
