The Klumps are on Sky on Wednesday night so it’s probably for that.

I agree rugby league is boring, and it seems the rest of the world agrees with me has nobody has heard of rugby league or watches it!

Despite your best efforts to bring it to the world’s attention by continually starting threads on the subject. (Apart from when they win a trophy, when you are as quiet as a church mouse). This is the 12th thread you have personally started on the subject of Rugby League.

        Talk about obsessed…..

But not obsessed enough to spend loads of time on a rival sports board.

Wow Mutty, you must be pretty desperate to have a go at our little club that means nothing to you, to trawl back 11 years for a press clip. And if you actually read it, the reporter doesn’t say Wigan fans caused what happened. It’s purely interviewees from Stoke. About as unbiased as you.

Speaking as someone (admittedly also biased but open minded) who was actually there, and not depending on press cuttings, I can tell you that yes there were a couple of shouts in the minutes silence, but they were from people coming up the steps from the concourse to the ground. Once they realised what was happening they shut their traps. After the minutes silence most of the ground joined with the Stokies in singing There’s only one Stanley Matthews. But somehow I wouldn’t be surprised if you knew this already.

Now not wanting to be a bit of a snoop and I’m sure a eggie will put me right but didn’t the worriers give away six free tickets with every season ticket sold and a whole stand against the quins ,£26 for a kids season ticket the list goes on and on and on :D

I believe you’re referring to the ‘Scrum’ ticket offer which allows the ticket holder to bring 6 guests who only have to pay £5 each for their tickets.

For the Harlequins game the stand is sold to Heinz, who are then free to do whatever they like with the tickets they receive. They may give some tickets away although I’m pretty sure last time they sold them at about £3 per ticket.

Both clubs have special offers to try to attract fans. I don’t think either Latics or Warriors actually give away tickets (at least not in bulk or on a large enough scale to alter attendances). The argument over who has the most fans comes up all the time. Wigan rugby has over 10,000 season ticket holders and I’m pretty sure Latics have the same or similar.
Your quote about Heinz is wrong, but I suspect you knew that when you posted. They don’t just give some North Stand tickets to Heinz. They give them the whole stand. And Heinz don’t charge a single penny never mind £3. My brother gets half a dozen for his wifes family every season.

Why would it matter to us if they rest players for the FA Cup final? We play them the week after.

              Ok – I’ll explain it slowly…

On 14 May, Stoke have their biggest game in living memory. They want to keep their players fit for that game so they rest a few and those that play will be mindful of the need to avoid injury. They play Blackpool this weekend who are scrapping for their lives, so do you really think that anyone who will be on the pitch at Wembley will put 120% into this game and risk injury?

Last game of the season, they play Wigan. That is after the cup final and their next game after that is mid-August, so it doesnt matter as much if someone is carrying a knock or a strain because they get 2-3 months to rest it afterwards. They’ll put a very strong side out that day.

              Do you get it now?
I get it perfectly thanks. You said Stoke wouldn’t field a full strength side again this season, so as to save their best players for the FA Cup. Bat seeing as we only playthem afterwards, they then have no reason to keep their strongest team off the field.

Stoke are now safe in the league and can put all their effort into winning the cup and resting key players prior to the cup final.

Whilst it looks good for the last game of the season, I wouldnt expect a full-strength Stoke side to appear in a league match again this season. They lost Hetherington last night and will be keen not to lose many more when they face sides who are prepared to scrap for every ball.

Next up they are at Blackpool…

I’ll purchase a ticket at the Everton match. May only pop in for a short while after the West Ham match, but if what I hear about the Supporters Club finances is true, then I’ve no problem at all paying a couple of quid to help out.

why is there so much emphasis on where fans come from ??

why is it such an issue ? as long as they go through the turnstile what does it matter

i bet big dave would be glad of a few more watching your lot regardless of where they are from , biggest sport in’t world un all tha :teasing-blah:

In the normal scheme of things it doesn’t matter one bit. But when you’re using these non-Wiganers as a justification for the town being full of rugby fans, you are arguing under false pretences.

Too much damage done by Mr Martinez..Cheap tickets dont create a loyal fanbase..Good honest football and winning more than five games in a season may go a long way to putting bums on seats..

If that’s the case how come we struggled to get 16000 when we had Palacios, Valencia etc. in a team close to qualifying for Europe? It’s all to do with Wiganers being a bunch of whining, whinging, skinflint miseries.

                          what worries me most
is most of the team will have it in their contracts that if relegated they can leave
what we could be left with could be more shyte and another relegation scrap

I thought you wanted us to get shut of most of our players.

However much Sky have given us it’s bound to be included in the figures that Bloomberg have audited. Whelan’s money is, in that case, obviously needed to top up our income..
