Specsavers fillis
your lack of positivity is quite astounding
The first 60 minutes today was the easiest that Bournemouth would have had all season
Even easier than their 8-0 rout at Birmingham ? Or maybe we could have been 2-0 up having McClean hit the bar from his free kick and no one on the end of a pass across the six yard box all in the first fifteen minutes ?
Delort will be banging them in soon enough, Dicko is and Riera thought good enough to play up front on his own against Barcelona of all teams in the best league in the world.
Only good enough for a bit int Latics reserves though eh? Says more about our management and backroom teams to me and them not having a clue, possibly only playing their favourites.
Will you stop banging on about Delort!
Yes, he will be scoring goals again – back in the French second division because he wasn’t good enough to make it over here.
There hasn’t exactly been a clamour of clubs looking to sign him from us has there?
I’m taking it that you have extremely poor eyesight otherwise you’ll have seen how poor Delort has been. He’s started or come on as a sub in 11 games, and not once have I thought he showed anything that might suggest he’ll turn out to be a good signing. He looked, cocky, greedy and too lightweight – in my opinion, obviously, but I’m not a football genius or gifted judge of potential – unlike yourself.
Dicko was deemed not good enough by Martinez, Coyle and Rosler. So all three of them were clueless?
Dean Saunders didn’t rate him Wolves first time round and only used him a handful of times as a sub. Also for a majority of his time at Blackpool he was used as a sub by Holloway.
Hardly glowing references, but well done to him for scoring goals so many at Wolves. That’s the way it goes sometimes. A bit like Ellington with us compared to when he went to West Brom.
And so what if Riera played up front on his own against Barcelona. Deportivo are 14th in La Liga – so they’re currently on a par with the likes of Sunderland, Crystal Palace or West Brom. Adrian Lopez and Albert Crusat both played regularly in La Liga – and they were roaring successes at Wigan weren’t they?
(Incidentally, weren’t you criticising Wigan for playing Riera up front by himself – despite him having played as a lone striker for most of his career?)
And as for that comment about Wigan managers only playing their favourites…..
You do realise it’s not an under 9s team don’t you? The manager isn’t there to give everyone a game so they keep turning up on Sunday mornings. Of course they play their favourites. They do whatever they think is necessary to bring out the best in their squad – even it means dropping a technically excellent player on the basis that his attitude or personality is disruptive. That’s the way it works.
I don’t know why you bother responding to this idiot Jonny.
Says more about our management and backroom teams to me and them not having a clue, possibly only playing their favourites.Well I thought this was an idiotic enough statement to make to justify the claim but maybe I’m being too “loyal”. I’m sure the management and backroom staff do have a clue and are fully aware of the calibre of players at their disposal but perhaps you might want to go down there and point them in the right direction.
Sammy, please don’t get all big and brave behind a keyboard because we rarely agree. I can’t recall calling you any names or suchlike. If you post stupid, idiotic statements don’t be surprised to be called on it. A tad over sensitive there Tez if you consider that being big and brave behind a keyboard.
It says more about you than me and to be honest I’ve got hands like spades not a mouth like a bucket. And I’ve no idea what this is supposed to mean.
This may have been asked before but are you Dave from Skem by any chance?
Where’s Arky
Now now you know the policy of the minority of tics fans is to 1- slag an player off before he gets to wear the shirt 2- check wiki for scoring records how many clubs he been playing for 3-any previous history on you tube
I agree a good point after what’s gone on this week players leaving/ coming in :woohoo:
The latest player that could be heading for the exit door at the DW Stadium is centre back Rob Kiernan.
The 24 year old could well find his options limited at the Latics with the arrival of Jason Pearce and it has emerged that both Charlton and Birmingham have shown an interest in taking the former Watford youngster either on loan or on a permanent deal.
Liverpool youngster Sheyi Ojo is expected to join Wigan Athletic on loan for the rest of the season.
The Reds are in talks with the Championship outfit over a temporary move for the 17-year-old winger.
Boss Brendan Rodgers believes Ojo’s development would benefit from a spell playing regular first-team football.
The England youth international, who joined Liverpool from MK Dons in 2011, has yet to make his senior debut for the Reds but has been a regular at Melwood this season. He was an unused substitute in the games against Burnley and Leicester over the festive period.
Liverpool Under-21s boss Michael Beale told the ECHO earlier this week that Ojo had attracted interest from a number of clubs throughout the Football League.
“There’s a lot of interest around him in terms of a loan,” he said.
“We’ve got to make sure it’s the right thing for Sheyi and if he goes out that he’s going to play and if he’s not going to play, he’s got to get access – like Conor Randall at Shrewsbury – to come back and play for us.”
In contrast, peaceful Wigan has just 9 violent and sexual offences per 1,000 per annum.
aye them that get reported or the bobbies actually attend too
He’ll be reet playing with fortune up front

Will Billy Mckay (it’s a small ‘k’, by the way) be a success at Wigan Athletic? That depends on how much of a step up going from the Scottish Premiership to the English Championship is. But the Latics have signed one of the best strikers in Scottish football; Mckay has scored 59 goals in the last two and a half seasons, more than anyone else in our top flight during that period.
I wouldn’t have said that in the summer of 2012, however. His first season in the Highlands after joining from Northampton Town was pretty unimpressive, though not helped by an injury that wrecked his pre-season. Once he had broken into the team, he managed just three goals in the entire campaign, and at one point went sixteen games without scoring. The decision by manager Terry Butcher to give him a two year deal that summer was a surprise at the time, but he clearly knew something we didn’t, as 2012-13 saw him hit the goal trail spectacularly.
The crucial difference was a dramatic increase in the quality of service he was getting. After all, he’s only 5ft 7in, and we were playing him as a lone striker; pumping high balls up to him is no use. Whilst his link-up play in deeper areas is decent enough, there’s no question that Mckay is at his best when he is in the final third and facing goal. His movement off the ball is terrific, with a speed of thought matched by a rapid acceleration over 5-10 metres. This allows him to shake off his marker, and is why, despite his size, he still manages to score with his head every so often, generally having found a gap between defenders.
Like all but the most elite of strikers, Mckay is confidence-dependent; he is prone to dips in form which inevitably lead to droughts. His attitude remains excellent during these periods, and his work-rate will be as high as ever, but his finishing, especially in one-on-ones, will become erratic. He needs his manager to stick by him in these periods; he’s played in every league match for three years (which also tells you something about his durability).
A lot of players have left Scottish football for the English Championship in recent years; some have succeeded, but many have failed. Will Mckay make the cut? My worry is that the step up in quality will be too big. Our league is full of big, lumbering centre backs that the Northern Irishman could leave for dead, but now he’ll be up against guys who are just as strong, but can match his pace; they might also be more tuned to his off-the-ball movement. But he’s certainly earned the right to give it a shot, and he leaves Inverness with our best wishes.
Anyone think the reason for this dramatic loss in form by players could be money related ie last season they could have still been on some sort of incentive to get promoted at the first attempt and now that incentive has been withdrawn due to the decrease in parachute payments and income to the club ?
Boyce slower than an sloth ,huws showed promise till injury ,Waghorn just back from injury and yon mpn Delort yet to impress
