“I am sticking to my guns as I want Martinez to be in charge”
To repeat the question asked by the previous poster what have you possibly seen so far season that would make you think that you want Martinez in charge of this club?
I keep hearing from his defenders that it takes a manager time to get a whole new style of play across to his players
If that’s so then why the fook have our performances, goal scoring record & points per game record all got worse as the season has progressedWake up & smell the coffee the guy is quite simply not up to the job
What a pile of feckin $h!te that was.
No tempo, no spark, no creativity, no passion, no movement & a manager stood on the touchline pullin pwebs out of his ball bags coz he hasn’t got a mutha f00kin clue how to change things round or add a sense of urgency to his team’s performance
Personally I’m sick to the back freakin teeth of people makin excuses for Bobby’s failings. His signings are (on the whole) poor, his tactics are poor, his formations are poor & his plan B is non-existant. Sacking him now won’t make a damn bit of difference but if, due to the even worse ineptitude of other teams/managers Latics manage to stay up I think next season (with Bobby still at the helm & minus Rodallega, N’Zogbia & Figueroa) is going to be even worse
The manager & players ought to be ashamed that in 2 games (including tonight against their reserve/youth team) against a team that has conceded an average of 1.8 goals a game Latics have managed to score precisely zip/nowt/jack sheet
PS – Yes I’ve had a few beers tonight!!!
Get the back of someone’s stud ear ring, put it against your skin using a small amount of pressure & then scratch it along your skin.
My wife did that to me when I asked her how it felt, she did that & it was pretty accurate – I’ve got a phobia of needles but its nowt like having injections
At times it’ll hurt more than at other times. I’ve been told that it hurts more over skin where there is bone close to the surface than it does over fleshy bits like your calf. Also, the outline of your tattoo hurts more than the “colouring in”
I was also told by my tattooist that, in general, men find it a far more painful experience than women
I think it was a good game (2 hours of football on Wembley’s notoriously energy sapping pitch) & result for Latics (how many times do we hear the phrase “after the Lord Mayor’s Show” to describe a team who are allegedly brimming with confidence after a great result who then go & lose their next game
As professionals they shouldn’t but you can guarantee players will have possible injuries & suspensions on their mind & as they’re now down why would they risk picking em up in a game that means nowt to em
That said I think Latics under Bobby are more than capable of turning all that on its head & making a total pigs ear of this weeks game
I don’t think we’ll go down (though I may change my mind if we get beat on Wednesday) but that says far more about the poor state of some of the teams in the division this year than it does about how good I think Latics are
Only 3 league wins since the end of November. Only scoring more than 1 goal in 6 league matches all season. Conceding an average of nigh on 2 goals a game & our lowest points total after 33 games of any of our 5 seasons in the top flight make this a season I’d like to forget about as quickly as possible after 9th May
Thanks to my idiocy I put 2 bets on Don’t Push It (£2 e/w & £2.50 e/w) instead of putting the £2.50 e/w on Ballyholland as I’d meant to.
However the functioning part of my brain remembered to tick the “Take board price” option & I got odds of 22/1 as opposed to the 10/1 it finished at
The £132.75 that this brought in made Saturday night that bit more enjoyable!!
I don’t think that the majority of prem clubs needed would vote for the change anyway
BUT
if they did then if Latics didn’t comply they would be breaking membership rules & their membership would be rescinded
Faced with that choice Whelco (who as far as I can tell still own the ground despite what was said at the start of this season) would have to make the choice about whether they would seek to break the lease they have with the rugby
This, I imagine, would be extremely costly not only in legal fees but Wigan RL would I assume sue them for the amount that it would cost to plan & build a new stadium which isn’t buttons
From what i can remember, there was also funding & planning permission stipulations on the ground being multi-use. If Whelco were to stop one of the clubs from playing at the DW there could be further cost implications that way too“If a manager thinks the ref’s made a wrong decision then why isn’t he allowed to state his opinion?”
That’s not all he did though is it? He called the ref a liar & accused him of changing the reason why Caldwell was sent off
If he has evidence to back that up then he’ll get off with it. if he hasn’t then you can’t go round accusing ref’s of lying & not expect a charge & fine“By the pess definition, drunk idiots at a football game = Hooligans.
Call them what you like at the rugby, it’s creeping into your game.”
it really isn’t
It isn’t creeping in to your game coz its always been there albeit on a smaller scale as there are less people that follow your sport & less teams to follow.
But the long standign RL fans I know will admit it as well as many on here who went watching the rugby on the 80’s. On a personal level in all but 1 rugby league game I’ve been to (& I’ve only been to 5 or 6) I’ve seen bother of one form or anotherI also had the misfortune to be out with my wife & baby in St Helens town centre at lunch time on Good Friday & the conduct of the majority of your fans I was unfortunate enough to encounter was an embarrassment to the town to be honest.
I’m not some naive kid who thinks any group of sports fans walking through town after a few beers & chanting are hooligans but some of your lot really do need to start conducting yourselves with a lot more class if what I saw last week was indicative of their actionsI’m afraid that by calling him a liar in a public press conference he was always going to get charged
If you remember Jewell’s rant about Phil Dowd after the Arsenal league game we lost 2-1 late on he worded it very carefully so it came across more as a personal opinion as opposed to “Phil Dowd is a ****” & he didn’t get charged
Bobby’s only got himself to blame IMO
Think I’ve done this before but what the hell, I’ll do it again:
McCarthy – still relatively early doors but looks a hit
Caldwell – as above
Diame – Capable of looking great one game & total pig swill the next. If he sorts out his consistancy he’s gonna be a good un
Thomas – Tackles alot but that’s about it so its a miss from me
Moses – not yet considered “ready” by Bobby so would have to be considered a miss so far seeing as how valuable transfer budget was used in a relegation battle to sign someone who wouldn’t be playing
Moreno – Is growing into the premier league game by game but looks like he’d rather lay it off than have a go himself so I’d say a miss so far
Gohouri – Another Bobby signing who “isn’t ready” so a miss
Scotland – Miss
Gomez – Miss
Sinclair – Miss
Stojkovic – Miss
Amaya – Miss“send them back to obscurity”
BACK to obscurity?????
Its been a long, long, long, long time since Manchester United were an “obscure” side
That said (& I didn’t see any of the game) I had to laugh when I heard Fergies comments that the Bayern players got Rafael sent off by surrounding the ref & that was typically German. I hope he was being ironic with that comment!!
So Jason Scotland was given the creative hub/in the hole position??????
And some wonder why many seem to be critical of Martinez!!!I guess its a step up from playing a centre half there though!!
Quite simply I prefer the British style of football to the style that is played predominantly in Europe
There’s no doubt that technically some of the foreign leagues are “better” but its played with a different tempo, style & aggression from what rocks my boat (so to speak)
So I guess the “most entertaining” tag is all down to personal taste
That said, the wealth on offer in the premier league & what you lose by going down added to the extra wealth given to a club that reaches the champions league is creating a far bigger gap in terms of squad abilities of the top & bottom of the top flight than I’ve known in my 30 years of watching football & this in turn is changing the approach & attitude of many of its teams – for the worse
I think the same can be said of most European leagues though coz it seems to be the same teams from across the continent competing in the champions league season after season
