At those prices, can’t see us selling out our end when we get there. I wouldn’t even pay £40 at Anfield.

Didn’t go last night because of the fact I went to watch the reserves on Tuesday. Was that the only good thing I missed?

I went to watch the reserves on Wednesday. And yes, it was the only highlight of a very poor evening.

    Bramble or the Caldwells
    Cattermole or Diame

    I rest my case…

“Yeah, it was very funny to watch.

But after the giggling has died down, remember this – it’s illegal, it makes our club look stupid and probably had a contributory impact on the Y10 handbags that took place outside the ground.

So, I would ban all three of the idiots for life along with anyone else – say you, for example – who thinks there was nothing wrong with it, to boot.”

It certainly makes the stewards look stupid – especially the one who did the dive. There were probably more stewards than fans left by then and still they can’t stop it happening. It wasn’t exactly a mass invasion – just 3 kids, but for one to get on and off without getting caught shows how inept they are.

They’re very quick to search my bag when I go in with three young kids which always narks me as I’m not exactly hooligan material, and in the West last night (I never normally sit there) there was one woman who spent the entire game telling kids and adults not to put their feet on the seat in front. Very over zealous and unnecessary but when they’re really needed they don’t perform.

I wouldn’t ban the kids – I’d use them for training in how to prioritise duties and not try to alienate fans.

Whilst it’s hard to feel sympathy for West Ham for anything, it’s wrong. The fans apparently don’t want it and who wants to watch football when you’re miles from the pitch? Supporters are already too far from the action. The players need to be able to hear every word we say…

I was told by a die hard Utd fan at work that he only retired because he didn’t make the 25 man squad and that Fergie didn’t hesitate to be ruthless and do what’s best for the club in leaving him out, despite his commitment to them over the years.

Personally I though he was a very average footballer, but what he lacked in natural talent, he made up for in passion to play and commitment to his club. It got me wondering who was the last one of our lot to kiss the club badge when they scored? I can’t recall it happening with today’s bunch of mercenary types.

…which was a bonus cos in the rush to get home from work and get to the match, I left me coat at home.

1.5m championship player replaced by a 6m one with a ‘big reputation’. Nothing changed and both seem to me to be somewhat lacking, but it’s wrong to heckle your own however frustrated we are.

My lad was one against Boro – think it was our second home game in the Prem. He loved it though he wasn’t so keen when Uriah Rennie picked him up in the tunnel (he was only 5) and asked him his name. He walked out with De Zeeuw which really made his day. They never showed him on Match of the Day so we eventually got a copy of the game from some dodgy arabian TV channel.

My daughter has been trying for ages and hasn’t got anywhere near it, but then again we don’t go to the pre match entertainment anymore.

    in reply to: WHY? #52572

More goals than any other Prem game – but still last on MOTD. Was beginning to think they’d show highlights of Blackpool – Man U before us.

in reply to: WAFC AGAINST MODERN FOOTBALL #50589

If Man U fans etc are willing to pay £42 each week then I have little sympathy. The only way to make a real protest is for them to boycott their clubs and let the sky cameras show empty grounds with no atmosphere. I’m not prepared to stump up that sort of money (as much as I would like to go), but fair play to Blackburn for making an away game affordable and as a result they had a decent turnout.

The problem with our club is not the season tickets, but the fact that it is too complicated for a casual to get a cheapish ticket. Forget Christmas Crackers/junior stripes/bring a mate for a fiver/4 for £60 or whatever it was and the like. It is at least £15 for a casual junior to turn up and watch. That’s the same as a junior at Old Trafford. I know people who when they have a free day would go and watch football on the spur of the moment but at least £40 for a lad and dad is far too much for them. £10 and £5 at Blackburn. Simple and affordable with them more likely to come back for more.

As to the campaign – surely it’s now time that football fans should be allowed a drink in their seats. Apart from the kid who sits behind me who spills his coke every week that is…

in reply to: Well said that man! #47325

My 10 year old has been going since he was 2. Had to get him in sharpish as every other kid in nursery had a mini Man U kit and I’d have failed as a father if he turned into one of them.

Anyhow, the day Baines left he said to me “Dad – it’s still Wigan but it isn’t if you know what I mean.” How right he was. I don’t really see the support (or lack of it) as the problem – it’s the whole ethos of football. It might still just be our club but it’s not our team – how many actually give a damn about playing for us? Not many I’d wager. That’s why whatever Martinez’s faults maybe, he’s the closest thing to one of us there is.

If individual players can’t be arsed and show no commitment, it’s no wonder newer fans soon get fed up too. There’s far too much wrong with the whole game and the sooner the bubble bursts the better. If Man U can’t sell 4,000 season tickets, it can’t be far away…

in reply to: Today’s Positives #42587

    1: Agree about Stam
2: At least we have a decent alternative to Kirkland
3: First on MOTD for once
4: I managed to spoil a BBC interview with jubilant Blackpool fans walking past the North stand at the end
5: Only 37 more games to go

in reply to: Anyone see … #42585

A bit of a hollow gesture as it was last seasons shirt that was thrown on. Thought the ball boy who was made to go on to retrieve it was a contender for MOTM.

in reply to: Marine FC Saturday #40988

Their website says matches are £9 adults, £5 concessions and free for under 11’s – though doesn’t specifically mention this game.

I’m tempted to go, but curious as to who would make up a “Wigan Athletic 11”, especially after they played today.
