So then, we resurrect yet another players career and they jump ship at the first opportunity when a ‘big’ team comes a calling. Can’t help thinking that the grass might not be greener for him, just in the same way that Heskey’s wasn’t. Some players show the loyalty, keep the respect and earn the right etc for the big money move, others don’t.

    Titus thanks? Not from me.

Interesting perspective, but I can’t recall our fans invading the pitch at any other time in the prem. I think the last one was Reading. The stewards have been able to control the home fans on every occasion since then so why not on Sunday? From where I sit in ES3, I’ve seen every season at the last home game people make their way down to the front chanting “on the pitch”, but they haven’t gone on as they’ve been kept back.

I don’t think the Hull match was a particular flashpoint – emotions weren’t exactly running high for a team all but mathematically down. They might have their fair share of idiots, but no more than any other side. I just think that someone made an on the spot decision to have a show of steward strength for an away support celebrating what appeared to be their last away win in this league and that our goal caught them napping.

When I think back to last season and someones decision to let the Man U fans over run the West stand at the end, nothing surprises me anymore.

I don’t recall ever seeing a double line of stewards at the away end before – not even when Portsmouth beat us to stay up. They arrived before our lot started massing near the bottom of the steps. Seems to me to be another inept display of stewarding. I saw it coming so why didn’t they?

And on a lighter note, one of our lot went over and started giving it out to the Hull fans and then fell over as he turned to run away. Made me chuckle anyway…

in reply to: Season Ticket Prices #31284

Nothing’s reached here yet about season ticket prices, but my first thought is that for me and my 3 kids in ES3, I pay less than £500 so I’m not going to pay more to move back there. I remember constantly having to get up to let some kid pass to go to the bog and having coke spilled down my back each week. I’ll stay where i am.

If it was on the retail park, hope you didn’t pay it!!

    in reply to: Chameleons #29592

From the website http://www.thechameleons.com/ it does say the chameleonsvox/sun and the moon.

From what I remember of the split, the original band hate each other and will never play again. Sadly.

Whatever the rights or wrongs of the reaction to his substitution, stomping off down the tunnel to sulk is bang out of order. He should have been forced to watch like the rest of us. Hope Martinez holds him to account. When you look at his attitude compared to Michael Brown’s, I know who’d I’d rather have in a relegation scrap…

The finest band ever to walk the planet. Script of the Bridge still sounds as good now as it did too many years ago.

However, I think this is the main man Burgess and one of his other incarnations – The Sun and the Moon. Well worth £6, but without the proper line up, something’s missing.

in reply to: Shirt signing on Friday #29044

Cheers for checking, but it does say they will only be signing those shirts purchased at the new prices and no other items! Hope it’s wrong…

in reply to: Shirt signing on Friday #29041

So then, my 10 year old who wears his full priced replica shirt constantly and with pride – he only takes it off under protest to be washed occasionally – has to go and buy a new one just to get it signed by the whole first team squad. I don’t think so…

Maybe it’s where I live, but the people who would come with me are a: supporters of other teams, b: only coming because they like football and it’s cheap, c: have no real affinity to the club apart from liking the way were are still here after 5 years and d: might just put one over on Arsenal.

Not the ideal sort who should be benefiting from such special offers when the loyalty of others is apparently unnoticed.

Or maybe I just keep the wrong company…

Here is a random amusing footy pic ! Can we start something called ” Random Funny Footy Pics ” Where you just randomly post a pic in the middle of a serious debate on any thread !!

Hope they were part of Spurs’ bring someone elses kids for a quid scheme.

in reply to: Well Done Wigan #27623

There are two ways of looking at this one – firstly the club should be applauded for trying to fill the ground for the last 3 games. On the other hand, as someone who unfailingly pays out up front for a season ticket, bringing a mate for a few quid does not really have any benefit to me. Mates/acquaintances/people I don’t really like – not Latics fans as they’d be going anyway – often ask when the next offer is on and can they go. That doesn’t exactly reward my loyalty.

How about offering the opportunity to buy next years season ticket now at a 10% discount or something like that? It seems to work ok for other clubs.

in reply to: trouble in es2 #26907

I complained about the over zealous attitude of the stewarding to me and my kids in ES3 at the Birmingham game back in December. In fairness to the club, Stuart Hayton’s email reply was almost immediate and this was followed up by a full reply from the stadium safety officer within a week.

They stopped short of apologising, but could “understand my anguish”.

in reply to: To the chap with the “Martinez Out” banner #26077

Curbishley – I wonder why you were screaming ES3 to the rafters when the people with the banner were actually sitting on ES4. Seems like a wind up to me.

There seemed to be a group of five or six all having a good laugh about it. It looked like someone had scrawled in marker pen on a pillow case. Very amateurish. The anti Gillete and Hicks one in the away end was very professional by comparison. Grown men acting like that – very sad.

Funny how they didn’t wave it at the end. Surely those 90 minutes couldn’t have changed their minds about Martinez? Why did they not have the courage of their convictions and wave it throughout, including as the final whistle went? They’d get more respect if that’s what they truly believed. Nowt to do with unfortunate timing.

Why not write to the club telling him where he’s going wrong? Why not write an article on here or MHM fanzine giving the benefit of your wisdom? Why not vote with your feet? If you don’t like it then don’t come. Simple really. Banner waving for the benefit of Sky/ESPN (not that they’d be interested in us for a minute anyway) isn’t the right way go and is only detrimental to the continued development of OUR club.
