We need someone who would take the spotlight off DW when he starts mouthing off about whatever is on his mind. Someone in touch with modern thinking both on and off the field, someone who has managed at the highest level and is able to build bridges in the multi cultural world of football.

    Ron Atkinson

What struck me reading some of the comments is that at least we play in a league where you can get relegated on merit. If we follow the ‘super’league model we’d be nowhere near the top division.

He was on 5 Live earlier today going on about being a supporter of York City. That may explain his bitterness towards little Wigan.

Must be Callum Mcmanaman’s fault that Newcastle are so poor. This could go down to goal difference with them back in it too. Poor Pardew.

Oops it’s 6-0 now with 8 min to go

Their GD is now -23 same as us.

Time to get worried Pardew
That wasn’t booing I heard at the end was it? Surely not Newcastle fans with all their knowledge, passion and fat blokes in replica shirts.

If the three points meant premiership survival then I’d take it.

Have to be careful here. If someone causes damage/smokes etc in the room, your credit/debit card will be charged!

Saw one kick off at Wembley Park station but this seemed to be 2 Millwall having a go at each other and loads of transport police appeared from nowhere. Atmosphere seemed generally hostile but not particularly anti Wigan. One middle aged bloke gave my lad his programme and said ‘we’re not all bad’.

My worry is that they will be patronizing us all the way down “you’ve done well for a little club, but we’re a massive club….” and so on. Every City fan I’ve met like to crack on they’re ‘salt of the earth’ and have been going for years.

Just got in now after making a weekend of it. Hilton Park full of Man City fans who think they’ve already won the cup.

They must have been so busy supporting city through the dark days they’ve forgotten what happened to Liverpool against Wimbledon, Spurs against Coventry etc.

Did we used to get a free “watch out there’s a Humphrey about” sticker on the bottle or was that something else?

Thatcher may have a lot to answer for, but she did us a favour in our school stopping the milk. It was either frozen solid or left in the sun all morning that is was off and stank the class out.

And it was only ever the swot or ‘milk monitor’ who got to stick the straws in.

Newcastle for me. Middle aged fat blokes taking their replica tops off when it’s cold just doesn’t do it for me.

And what a terrible celebration from Pardew. He aint no Mourinho.

From the Village of the Damned – Rainford. The only real way out was the train – to watch Liverpool/Everton one week, Wigan the next. In those days there was never a ticket inspector so it was free to get there. That was nearly 30 years ago. As we got older, used to go to the Pier, Maxines, the Bull etc so felt more of an affinity with Wigan, than St Helens where Rainford is.

Is Stephen Fishwick still Lord of Rainford?
Sorry – never heard of him. Is he some Mr big peddling sleeping pills to the old folk?

The bonus of having a half full stadium is that hopefully I’ll be able to convert my £30 seat to a £40 one for free. Taking 2 kids also, that’s a decent saving which wouldn’t have happened if we’d played at Villa Park for example.
