I do think you have to pick players on their own merits, Michael Owen is useless outside the box, Dare i say it, not even league one standard at the moment but Fergie signed him because he can finish, And finish well, As could Marcus Stewart, A superb finisher never got anywhere because he played for Ipswich.

I do not want to ridicule your opposition of the England team but we are littered with failures who performed at the highest level, (and when we were supposed to be world class) Ian Wright, Chris Sutton, Dean Holdsworth and Andy Cole were the best English of the 90s and 2000s and did hot get a sniff, If a player can finish, he can finish, Get the service and watch the rest.

Seems i was right about the Al-Habsi and Boselli transfers, and within about only a day or so of each being completed, , Watch out for Nelson Valdes, He is the next signing, Unless Wright-Phillips arrives on loan

Think the first post you made packed the best punch. They will never change. My prediction was affirmative, Just what City think they are to United and what Bolton think they are to Blackrod under 11s

Haha always remember playing them in the winter (January i think) and being that p1ssed on the way out i slid all the way down that woeful hill up to the away stand on my belly, i kind of skated a quarter of the way then ended up eating ice, Pulling 2 mates with me.

They will revel in that, They will think they deserve premier league status for that, Some of the most deluded fans i have ever met, And one of the most horrid walks i have had getting to a ground, On par with Bury and Burnley. And the town stinks too

Eeeerm i only posted this thread to highlight the fact that we were in for a striker. But on the subject of Boselli, Looks as though he is going to Estudiantes anyway so we will never know.

I have to disagree with you bigroy on some points and agree with you on others, I agree with the fact he cant create opportunities for himself because he is too slow in this league but i think it is unfair to say he is out of his depth after 9 starts or whatever it is when we were playing woeful as a team. Scotland was out of his depth after 1 goal in a full season but Boselli is well regarded as one of the best in recent years in the Argentinian league. I think you miss the point people are trying to make. He is a finisher, Nothing else, And given the chance and good service he will(would have) finished. I will throw a name into the pan here. Ruud Van Nistelrooy could not score outside of the box, Could not head a ball, Had no pace and shot on sight. He cost about 19m i think and did the same job Boselli was brought in to do. Stick him in United’s side he will bag up to 20 goals a season. He has it in him but whether he gets a proper chance is another question. Looks academical now though, Don’t think he will be here.

Can’t believe The Raj has had no mention. By far the best Indian i have ever had and im very keen on my Indian food, Award winning, Service excellent, Clean as a whistle, good ambience and top notch beer on the tap. If i was being asked to recommend a place that would be it.

in reply to: Boselli scores??? #68558

Not a big fan of him but he is a prolific striker and getting capped by Argentina means he has something about him. The problem with him is he is wasted up top on his own, He would flourish with another attacker….or…………… A Wright-Phillips on the wing, We could utilise the wingers pace instead and feed the ball into his feet because he is a penalty box striker. I want us to bid for Wayne Routledge, Has pace, can finish and he can cross a decent ball. 1.5m is a bargain, even if used as a bit part player.

he does have pace though you might just not see it from your armchair

Do not try to belittle me you little turd. Open your eyes you spotty twat

    in reply to: Rodallega #68463

He is not good enough for the job Martinez want’s his striker to do. Just like Boselli he has no strength or pace. What is the point in having a lone striker who can’t do either or manage to shoot on target. He either needs to sign a striker who can do the things a lone striker needs to do or change the style and put two up front or we will struggle yet again. It will be another barren season in the goals department again if things are not changed up front.

This is not having a pop by the way so don’t go slating me for daring to air a view.

    in reply to: Woodgate #68449

I know that JR, i was just making the point that when we signed him he was no spring chicken.

I really do believe that you need a blend of youth and experience, Especially in the dressing room, if for anything to maybe help Martinez a bit. Im sure he would appreciate a bit of genuine leadership in the squad, Thats why he keeps giving Pollitt contracts.

    in reply to: Woodgate #68446
Woodgate – good player when fit, but never fit.

I can’t see that he would fit Martinez’s policy (which I agree with) of buying younger, fit, hungry players.

Al-Habsi is 29, Gary Caldwell is 29, Steven Caldwell is 30 and Gohouri is 30, don’t know if there are others. You need some experience and i don’t believe that he believes that policy because he aint sticking to it. Someone like Woodgate in the squad would really add a prescence.

Oh and on the subject of defenders, we have overlooked somebody. Adrian Lopez, he will have had a full pre-seaon and could prove a bargain.

    in reply to: Rodallega #68443

I would let him go in an instant. He is a woeful striker. Misses open goals for fun, No pace and no versatility. He is a self-proclaimed superstar and in my opinion a tosh striker. I would be very surprised if those clubs were indeed interested, Spanish ones maybe but i think this is his way of trying to get himself a move. Another Match Of The Day wonderboy. We need a foorward with pace and a good touch, Thats it for me, The way we play that would be how to link up midfield-winger-strikers

    in reply to: whelan #68441

Agree and disagree, I agree that he should’t be saying things like that about our club and he should be saying the total and complete opposite.

However on this occasion we need to sell N’Zogbia as soon as possible and it’s a decent way of stirring interest.
