Seems like I’m the first one back.

A solid performance. We should have snatched it at the end though.

All things considered a point against them is a good result I reckon.

    Tonights team

Still no Roger in the starting XI

Latics team to face Rubin: Carson, Crainey, Shotton, McCann, Watson, Holt, Gomez, Boyce, Powell, Beausejour, Barnett

Comments from the Palace chairman ……….

“It’s a completely different challenge for Ian and a completely different challenge for us at the club.

“Ian’s been very noble and he’s come forward and said: ‘I can’t do it.’ I’ve spent three days trying to get Ian in the frame of mind that he can do it.”

He wasn’t sacked it would appear. He also said they’d lost team spirit because they made too many changes too quickly.

I like him. Whether I’d want him at Wigan not so sure.

Then again I’m not sure I want who we have got at the moment !!!

Can’t wait to see the team for tonight.Hope Roger gets a go ……….. :)

Good point. Maybe I should have said he can’t still be married.

God knows I get grief every time I go to the football, which isn’t as much as I’d like.

    Unlucky.

My Mrs has a season ticket.

She also has the same taste in music as me.

    I wouldn’t have married her otherwise :)

No grief in our house re the Footie.

    Now DIY that’s another story ……….. ;)
Is she not very good at it then? ;)
Credit where it’s due. She did a great job painting and decorating the youngest daughters bedroom last year. ;)

I think the position of goalkeeper is the least of our worries at the moment.

    Agreed.

If Coyle doesn’t think Holt can play 90 minutes then start with him and take him off when he’s knackered not the other way round when we’re losing.

Holt should start with Powell behind him with Fortune on the bench for reinforcements if required.

Apart from Bournemouth all the away games we’ve lost are to teams who will be going for the play offs come May. We were robbed at Watford and should have got at least a point yesterday.things can only get better. I hope

Yes but with the players we have we should have pasted Blackpool yesterday.

It was the team selection, tactics and substitutions that let us down, plus a piece of very poor goal keeping.

Surprised nobodys mentioned this season that Macmanamans been bloody awful. Cant beat a man, cant get a cross in. Looks like hes lost pace too.

Teams have worked him out Roy and double up on him as soon as he gets the ball. That happened every time yesterday. He has to work doubly hard to get a cross in.

I still have more confidence in him than McLean though to beat an isolated fullback.

That was another piece of tactical genius yesterday from Coyle. Bringing on Jean Beau and sticking McLean on the wrong wing on his wrong foot. You just knew we wouldn’t get another cross in from either wing then.

I think he’s doing OK as well.

He needs to sort out the left back spot though as although Perch has done OK he can’t overlap.

The Jean Beau/McLean combination looked promising though against Blackburn.

That would seem to be the way to go.

Cancel that last quote of mine.

    I think he’s looking like he really hasn’t got a clue what he’s doing !! :(

Well to be fair we hit the bar twice and Fortune had a really good chance the keeper saved.

I believe we have a good squad and some really good players.

Unfortunately we seem to have got a Manager who doesn’t seem to have a clue how to play them and choose the right formation.

We only really looked like scoring once we had a “proper” striker on the pitch.

Why play Powell up on his own? Anyone can see he isn’t suited to playing that lone striker role.

Why keep playing a right footer at left back? Give Espinoza a go or Jan Beau. They may not be full backs but they are left footed.I really feel for Roger as he just isn’t getting a chance.

Today was the game we needed to win not Thursday. No point resting players – rest em on Thursday!!

    Onwards and upwards !!!!

    Probably not !! :(

    Powell is not a striker.

Very poor header with he goal at his mercy.

Not a very good first half.Fingers crossed for a better 2nd half

According to Wigans Facebook page, this is the team.

Latics team to face Blackpool: Carson, Boyce, Barnett, Rogne, Perch, Watson, McArthur, Gomez, McManaman, Powell, McClean

Subs: Nicholls, Shotton, Beausejour, Espinoza, McCann, Holt, Fortune

2 strikers on the bench, a right footer at left back again and 2 left footers also on the bench?????

    I’ll reserve judgement. :(
