Well I’ll openly state I’m one of the ‘fans’ who don’t want him in charge anymore and I go to the vast majority of the games but I choose to get behind them on match day because that’s all we can do when we are in the ground.
I don’t rate Bob as a good manager, he can’t be when he tries the same thing over and over and it doesn’t work. As a coach however there’s no doubt to me he has a lot of the qualities you want in how to improve players and his strengths lie on the training pitch trying to improve players individually. His biggest problem is knitting it all together with different sets of tactics and responding to what he sees in front of him. Our players play dot-to-dot football that is repetetive and produces the same results, the only way we can win games it seems is through ‘magic’ football but we sold him in the summer and that individual brilliance we don’t have, which is why we are bottom! So you can have all the coaching badges in the world but it doesn’t mean you are going to be successful, if anything I think Bob doesn’t have a clue how to arrest this slide, 8 defeats in a row tells me that but it doesn’t mean I’m not apreciative of the last two years there just comes a time when a bunch of employees need a different voice to motivate them and give them an extra push to better themselves in a style of play that doesn’t hold them back.
You need to relax mate not particularly bothered about the crowds, the results were right in the end but thanks for the detailed input.
Well done to the council for chucking in a lot of free tickets yesterday to swell the crowd. WHo would’ve thought the council doing their bit for Wigan AThletic eh :)
Yeah about 150, hardly newsworthy
Why do people pad out stuff to convince themselves they are the most worldly-wise person in the football world? He was bought to score goals, he hasn’t therefore is classed as a dud, bottom-line.
I’m not trying to pad anything out or attempting to convince me you or anyone about Bosselli.
Just seriously ask yourself though, has he been given a fair crack of the whip? What was it 8 games he played some as sub??.Lets move on to summut else FFS!!
I’m sure after two weeks working on patterns of play and team shape Roberto will have seen it was going to be a massive work in progress or a huge failure on his part to have purchased Boselli. What he served up in his 8 games doesn’t just appear on game day. When ‘due-diligence’ is done on players (as we are constantly told) it seems Benson’s advice was correct in the end.

Just to clear up an earlier question, when the rugby were ‘sh!t’ they actually posted an increase in average attendance (their highest for 12 years) as the fans rallied around them in their worst season for 25 years whilst they were bottom of the league for 3/4 of the season.
To be fair to Kenneth he didn’t have much to work with!

Row 1 seat 987!
I actually think the biggest cause for concern is a few of the players bottling it, this current bunch have got history for it sadly. I just worry that the first 20 mins when everyone is up for it could be petered out by another individual mistake after a period of dominance.
I would hazard a guess at little if any. We seem to run a skeleton staff as it is.
Wasn’t the story doing the rounds that John Benson (God rest his soul) informed Martinez of this little fact that Boselli would be poor in our formation and set-up was told where to go.
The question for me is what is our striker doing in our area? He should be up the field, out of harm’s way, dragging a couple of their players with him.
We consistently defend far too deep, and packing the area means the ball ricochetes around dangerously.
 Were you saying that when Heskey was defending balls vs Sheffield Utd?
Probably not but that’s a futile argument. Rodallega has form for using his hands in the air, look at the last few weeks with his stupid attempts at winning the ball in the air only to handle it. He’s next to useless in the air and has absolutely no place in our box defending. If we can’t expect 9 other outfield players to do their job then that’s a coaching/individual player issue.
I’ll mention them now i’ve got the green light then!
McCarthy – poor at the moment I think, lots of running and energy but doesn’t get on the ball enough and isn’t positive enough when he does. When he is positive you get the chance for the goal and it was good to see him taking up those positions. I get the feeling he is playing within himself though and following orders to carry on with the dot-to-dot football that we play.
Cleverley – never a winger in a million years. Id love him to play Watson’s role as technically on the ball he looks the part. However, when he’s stuck on a touchline his only option is to pass backwards as he lacks the trickery to beat a man. He did a lot of pointing today and left Figueroa hopelessly without cover at times but he is another stifled by the manager’s tactics in my opinion. He needs to score more goals or he’ll never make it at this level. Just imagine him breaking from central midfield, I could see him smashing a few in.
