Looks like he’s gone……”6 meses al Genoa. Muy contento!!!” Taken from his Twitter page, I’d guess this means “6 months at Genoa”??
No LMB, you’ve got me all wrong…..the day I turn into a moaning (insert your own expletive), like Natdan etc, waiting for every opportunity to mindlessly criticise the club/manager etc without ever being positive about the club, is the day I give up. However, for once we have a constructive moan from the Dark Side and its a fair point. Martinez hasn’t used Boselli correctly, so Mauro hasn’t had a fair chance to show us whether or not he is good enough.
See Natdan…..you can criticise the club constructively, without resorting to mindless insults of the manager etc. Well done, now can you manage the next step and post something positive after a win, instead of going into hiding until you’ve something to moan about?
*In disbelief that I agree with something posted by Natdan
Ashamed of our fans…..well, unfortunately I think a few of us are frequently, after all, we have a large percentage of a fanbase that seems to turn up with the sole intention of slating slates the team and manager at every opportunity and is disppointed if we win and play well, as they can’t moan and shout about Whelan, the grass, the pies etc. However, the treatment of Gomez has been nothing short of disgraceful, he hasn’t done a Chimbonda or gone on strike…no, his “crime” is like a few others, he’s simply not good enough…..but the morons boo him before he gets on, while he’s on and when he’s going off and still expect him to perform…idiots.
Added to all this, we have the stayways who are an even bigger disgrace and find any excuse not to get behind the teams…oh yes, wonderful fans we have in Wigan.
Of course there’s a huge number of magnificent fans, just a shame they’re let down by others
Just a few things…yes Wilshire made the most of it, but there was definite contact and Charlie let everyone down with 1 moment of utter stupidity. Agree with whoever said they smiled at some of the comments, Charles was totally committed last night and was frustrated at a couple of loose passes, but he was the best player on the park.
As for our penalty, clearly a foul…just debatable inside or outside the box (we’ll get a free kick when we should have a penalty at some point), so that’ll even itself up. Could have been another 2 pens, Fabianski on Hugo, ball was 5 yards away and the McArthur handball, we got away with that one.
2005/6 – Man City. Villa, Bolton
Standish, Sephton’s right, we could be playing Rochdale in League 1 by 2012/13….difference is without Whelan’s involvement in the 90’s we could eventually have gone the way of Aldershot and playing Dale would have been an achievement not a disappointment.
As for fleecing the club, making money in the Prem must be easy I mean look at the total debt of all the clubs…..its huge (even without Utd and L’pool). Still go on believing we should be making/spending millions on gates of 15,000 paying League 1 prices.
Whelan has let us down at times with the price we get for players, but Im not sure what else he’s supposed to do.
Think Trevor Senior (Reading) used to score against us quite regularly. Mark Kendall, Newport County keeper usually had a blinder against us (or at least it seemed that way) and didn’t Clive Walker ALWAYS take the proverbial against us?
No, todays game doesnt count, a game has to be completed for it to count as part of a player’s suspension, so Figueroa and Thomas are still suspended for our next game (thought christ knows when that could end up being).
Reserve games used to count, remember one of Arsenal’s fearsome back 4 (Keown I think), being suspended and telling a tale of how they played him on the wing in a reserve game, so he was out of the action and hardly touched the ball. Think it was because so many teams were doing similar, they cottoned-on and made reserve games ineligible towards completing a ban
Ellington was a superb striker for us, absolutely brilliant goal v Chesterfied (on his debut) and the one at Wolves, are 2 of the best goals I’ve seen scored by a Latics player.
However, he then took a massive step backwards by going to WBA and signing for that managerial genuis known as Bryan Robson. How, in terms of his career, he didn’t see that as a crazy move is beyond me.
Got a feeling Herman Hriedarsson is one Charlton, Pompey and possibly Ipswich and Bolton, cant think of the other club.
Almost certain Nigel Quasie is another (Forest?, West Ham, WBA and one other)…..Quasie’s other club could also be Pompey.
If anyone thinks Sam is the answer to our problems, then they are either plain stupid or our problems are far worse than any of us imagine.
How anyone can want his “style” near our club is beyond me. Yes, he might keep us up this season but if anyone thought we could be boring under Bruce, you’ve never seem Sam’s tactics. Absolute clown that Allardyce.
Hugh summed it up perfectly….tightest “fans” in the world Wiganers, yes crowds are down everywhere, but our townsfolk are probably in class of their own when it comes to not supporting their club.
As for pubs, if you are able to get to the ground and yet choose to watch us in the pub, then you are not worthy of the term “fan”….no Wigan Athletic fan I know makes a decision to watch our home games in pub over the DW
One of the dark side will slate Martinez for not saving Moses for Saturday….course if he hadn’t played at all Martinez would have been slated by same posters.
After watching Barca last night, I’m sure that if Whelan gave Martinez the money to sign Messi tomorrow, dark siders would be moaning about us signing a Johnny Foreigner with only 1 decent foot.
Incidentally, seems like Victor has dislocated his shoulder….absolutely fooking disastrous that
As much as I’ve defended Martinez, got to say that performance was a disgrace today. WHU were there for the taking today, until they scored they were dreadful but we didnt make the most of the space they gave us in midfield and particularly on the left. The first goal was shocking defending, Gohouri and Caldwell should have been able to clear the knock down to Berahmi.
2nd half, well we were 2 down before we made substitutions to try and have an influence on the game, then we threw away a golden chance to get back in the game by asking Boselli (only just on) to take a crucial penalty. Excellent goal late on from Cleverley but the selection was wrong from the start – Gomez for Moses?? Wasn’t working after 30 minutes against a team that had 9 outfield players who didnt even look interested, that sub should have been made earlier.
Very worrying in the way we lost, thats 3 crucial away games we’ve lost (2 in dreadful style and unluckily at Blackburn)….we should have been more than good enough to take at least 4 points, but it helps if the team turns up for more than 1 of the 3 games.
