I think it’s safe to say, from what I’ve seen reported, that we’re going to be relying on picking up some of the many “free agents” that it seems are floating around at the moment. With the departure of Danny Fox it seems we are looking to strengthen all areas – defence, midfield and attack, but until everything is official on the takeover and us coming out of administration I think we will pick up some experienced bodies from the free agent market (which means we’re not tied to the transfer window) to bolster the obvious young talent that we have!
Perhaps we did some good business letting Jensen Weir go and keeping him? I also think that Chris Merrie hasn’t done too badly either. I think our Academy setup will pay some dividends over the next few seasons…
Was just going to post this same link – makes sense when you read it. EFL not making decisions quickly enough adn then appeals from the likes of us if they do, means we could still be in Championship next year, but starting on -12 points. However, it appears that Wednesday could start even worse than us with them facing up to a 21 point deduction!!!
QPR are talking about a current striker (Bright Osayi-Samuel) going to Club Brugges for £4.75m. He’s scored less (6 versus 9) than Moore and isn’t, as far as I am aware, an international, so how can they get Moore for £2 – £2.5m if we are getting market value for players???
I think the £41m comes from the initial purchase value (£17m) plus what IEC invested £24m. Also, the Administrators are looking for funds of £10m because we have to pay all creditors 25p in the pound to avoid a further 15 point deduction.
These are my assumptions on what has happened – not saying they’re correct, but that’s how I read it!

So, a question. If a miracle happens and we find a buyer and come out of administration before the season end does the 12 point deduction still stand???
It’s hardly surprising that we struggle most seasons, since we have such a high turn around of players every summer. That’s why we have seemed to come good in the second half of the season – for a number of seasons now. I think Paul Cook alluded to this when asked about our form in his pre-Blackburn interview.
We had 11 new players come in over the summer – that’s a complete team. Some worked out, some didn’t. But the thing is that now the whole squad have gelled and adapted together to the “system” and we’re seeing the benefits of this. There’s a long way to go yet – we need to get better at finishing off the half and full chances we create, for example. However, with a large number of players out of contract once again, and maybe a couple who will be sold, we may find ourselves in this position again next season – but who knows?
Personally, I think the big change came when Windass left for Sheff Wed – perhaps the dressing room harmony wasn’t there when he was here and perhaps it would be best if we got rid to keep this team spirit going? Just my view, I could be completely wrong!
My thoughts exactly. I’ve watched it several times now and Kieffer Moore was a good yard behind him tussling with another Blackburn defender, and it was his own man he collided with not our striker. For a guy who is 6 feet 5, I always said when he was here that his big weakness was commanding his box and snuffing out crosses. Until he sorts that side of his game out, he will always be a good shot stopper and not a great goalkeeper!
Grumpy, you haven’t been keeping up have you? The cards were cancelled before the Cid-19 break So Sami is back on zero bookings (well one now). Even the commentators were saying yesterday that he now has to accumulate 6 (I think) bookings in the last however many games for a ban.
