I had the same problem trying to “buy” my two free tickets for the Sunderland game! Sorted it eventually. I understand that for a game where you are buying tickets that they don’t like gaps being left, however for a season ticket renewal, where the system knows that it is already your seat – that seems a bit of a faux-pas to tell you you can’t have it!!!
Totally agree! You can understand this sort of thing for a competition, but for friendlies – I’m sure the players themselves would sooner being playing with their club, especially given our current position…
Has now been postponed!
Oh – and I should have said – not the greatest performance, but another 3 points towards what we want to (over)achieve this year! I was certainly one, who at the start of the season, was looking for a solid mid-table performance from the squad. However, I’ve been pleasantly surprised by what the club has achieved so far, and long may it continue!
I have never seen a fourth official spend so much time either on the touchline or between (and often inside) both technical areas. What on earth was the guy thinking he was? Most fourth officials spend their time in the WAFC badge or even the tunnel entrance/exit. However, that guy yesterday (who should not be let near another match for the foreseeable future) had no idea about what he was supposed to be doing!!!
I would add to that that Darikwa should not be played as a left back – the difference in his confidence was evident the minute he was swapped back to the right-hand side!
Well, after Transfer deadline day it seems that we’re now going to be playing with nine midfielders! It will be interesting to see who Leam chooses!
I have to say that our midfield seemed so much more composed with him in it. I also have to agree that I didn’t think him negative – a number of his passes were really searching and put us in good positions. A sign of a class midfielder for me is the time he has on the ball and Shinnie never seemed harassed by the Gillingham lot at all!

Ah sorry – didn’t check my post before submitting!
It should have read “Derby and Sheffield Wednesday”!
Sorry!
Don’t like to point this out really, but if FFP rules had applied to Derby at the same time that we were relegated then they would have gone down that year instead of us! Maybe they then would have offloaded loads of players and never gone into administration? This feels like a bit a karma to me – but I’d rather they had docked both Derby and Sheffield Wednesday in the same season as us because then we would have stayed put in the Championship and found a buyer much more easily.
As others have said – feel sorry for their fans. But as for the clubs and the EFL, well….
I think before anyone blasts Moreno (and his wife off) they need to listen to this interview – Jay Whittle interview
That seems to be the case – it was Christo (and his brother?) that the EFL didn’t like. And I have to say that Krasner’s comments from the Wigan Today website says it all really –
“All I’d say is there seems to be a lot of people who don’t understand what an NDA is, and there’s nothing we can do in any case, because we’ve got exclusivity here. If we withdraw the exclusivity, the Spanish would walk – and then you’d have around seven groups who all tell me they want to buy the club…until I tell them to open their cheque book! It’s just people who have had their chance, now coming back and trying to get it on the cheap. The Spanish were the only people who gave us non-returnable money up front. Others wanted to discuss it with us, but they didn’t want to put any money forward. We can all talk a good talk…but it’s only a cheque book that makes you listen.”
I’ve never understood Nandy saying that we should open this up to other people – they all had a chance to do something and didn’t! It’s not like the Spanish rushed in and jumped the gun on everyone – they made a bid and put down a substantial deposit to get the exclusivity that was promised. Now that they have removed from the bid the people the EFL were concerned about, and the remaining people show they still have the necessary funding for two years, this should simply be a rubber-stamp job for the EFL.
If it’s not sorted by the end of this week then we can only then assume that the people at the EFL are the incompetent ones holding everything up!!!
Actually, Caldwell may have worked with a lot of these players when he was part of the youth setup before he became manager. Perhaps him coming back with the group we have wouldn’t be a bad thing?
To give the bidders credit, this is an interesting viewpoint – https://www.wigantoday.net/sport/football/wigan-athletic-takeover-spanish-bidders-academy-and-current-league-form-3026915
