Have seen the “2nd goal” a few times and it was offside. Grigg got a touch on it which made Dunkley offside – no touch from Grigg and the goal would have stood! I’m the biggest critic of refs and assistants in league 1 but I thought the officials yesterday were ok!
Actually, on today’s top six – we have lost against two of them, beaten two of them and drawn against the other – so all-in-all a 50% record?
I looked at the assistant (or linesman or whatever) and he only made it to the goal line after the ball was cleared – so he was in the wrong position to judge whether or not the ball was over the line. So, if I were assessing him I would point out that in such an instance he should have been on the goal line itself to enable him to make the correct call.
I agree, but all the replays I’ve seen show him going down holding his face as if he’d been hit by Mayweather when actually Dunkley caught his chest. In my book that’s cheating!
I agree that Dunkley shouldn’t escape his punishment, but if the FA/EFL want to cut out cheating then here is their chance to set an example.
The authorities have supposedly set up a panel to review these things on Mondays. There was an article on the Sky website about this:
They are supposed to be able to hand out bans “If all three members of the panel agree that a player successfully tricked the referee into awarding a penalty or getting a rival sent off, via a straight red card or yellow card that leads to a dismissal, a charge will follow which carries a two-match ban.”
So perhaps this could be referred to them – but I don’t know who does it!
I think it’s a bit harsh saying £3 is OTT – a burger at McDonalds costs that (well a decent one anyway)!
Depends if you think that Caldwell was totally responsible for the summer recruitment, or if someone else (who maybe has since left the club) was…
Anyway, back to Horc’s clues – I’ve been reliably informed that Stuart Peaqrce has been in the stands for several of our last games – and he seems to fit the clues given so far “to a t”
I’d have a try at getting to Gary Monk on Sunday. He’s on a rolling one-year contract at Leeds and, as yet, has not been extended for next season. Lock him in a room after the match and hope Leeds don’t miss him until he’s signed a deal with us.
Why would we be reluctant to pay out on Gilks when we have signed him on a permanent basis? He is here until summer 2018 and so (at some point) if there is a clause in the fee that says we pay a little more after so many games, we would have to pay that next season anyway. The official site also says that we have paid an “undisclosed” fee – and so we must know what we have spent, and all the add-ons would have been taken into consideration when we offered him an 18 month contract.
It is more likely, as some have pointed out, that there is a clause in the Haugaard loan deal that states he must play in a certain percentage of fixtures when fit. The reason behind such a clause is probably that Stoke are stumping up most of the cost of his weekly wage, and us promising to play play him has kept down how much we have to pay him. So, if we don’t play him we probably have to up the percentage we pay – hence the reason he is being played is so that we “save” money.
However, if we get relegated is that not a false economy?
I almost left, but decided to wait and see if he brought Powell on and what would happen then! Glad I made that choice
But it’s also possibly something to do with fact that Jakob is a loan player and part of the deal will have been that he has to play a certain percentage of games when he is fit. If we don’t hold to our part of the bargain I could see that we would face a financial penalty for not playing him – which perhaps the club doesn’t want to do?
I blame Uwe! Bad substitution (McEachren off Tunnicliffe on)meant that the team lost its shape and ultimately gave away stupid goals that we hadn’t looked like shipping up to that point!
Just my opinion though!
You can make that six goals in five starts after today – and that is one division below where we are. Surely he will be recalled in January to give us options?
I’d have to see them against one another on a track but I would say yes he is faster than Macca! However, Callum is probably tricker/more skillful – who knows?
