About time these lads got their hands in their pocket the tight sods:
That’s a fact. When Leon Clarke has started we haven’t lost a game. In his four games he has set up goals, scored goals, had defenders sent off with his movement and got in some great goal scoring opportunities on Saturday and missed. The other facts are he has scored loads more than Vaughan in his career and many more at this level. How’s that not better?
Isn’t this a Preston team that finished 7th in the league last year, two points out of the play offs? They have finished well above us the previous two years in 11th in the championship so will have greater levels of income and are well established where as we have only just come up into this league. A league we have previously struggled to stay up in.
How is James Vaughan being replaced a surprise? At this level he has scored around one every ten games over the last few years and is currently warming the bench at Portsmouth. Like him or not Leon Clarke scored twice as many last season as Vaughan has in his entire career at this level. He’s no world beater but I’m not convinced he’s any worse. We’ve hardly lost a game with him in our team so far!
Probably not as we don’t have massive debt and are unlikely to have any going forward as owners won’t spend owt. We will try and punch above our weight on a brown ale budget when all around us are supping cognac. We might have the odd season in league one and come back up but we won’t be contenders in this league with free transfers and owd fellas coming in!
We don’t know what our budget is? Seems pretty obvious it’s fuck all when we’ve just released financial accounts making a massive loss, have sold one of our best assets, spent ball all in the transfer window and are about to lose our best player on a free at the end of the season. Unlike the seasons you quote we don’t have parachute payments anymore and these lads from Hong Kong don’t have a pot to piss in!
If you expect us to be in top half of this league with our budget and crowds I would fuck it off and watch another side as you’re only gonna be disappointed. We are miles behind the majority in terms of infrastructure and size and avoiding relegation will be a decent achievement in a league we have struggled to get to grips with the last two seasons we have been in it.
If we struggle away then home games are going to be our saviour. We have:-
Middlesbrough
Brentford
Norwich
Preston
Bolton
Millwall
Plus some very tricky away days. Today was a must 3pts which we threw away. Why did MacManaman play up front while James did all the donkey work ?.
I’d say after today’s performance we’ll be looking at 4pts tops. And, the coaching staff wanna do some OT with Clarke and explain to him again the offside rules.
It’s ok been caught offside granted but by 2-3 yard and I’m not on about once twice either. And to think we got rid of Vaughan for him…Jesus ter night
Some tactical geniuses on here. Callum coming on made them play narrower as their full back was occupied freeing up James and left him in a one v one as you might recall which is why he consistently got in during the last 15. Vaughan was utter wank. Least Clarke is there to miss em. Vaughan is currently on the bench for a Portsmouth side that hasn’t won in 8 games.
27 shots and on another day could have been 4 or 5. We weren’t brilliant granted but that’s 4 unbeaten and hopefully Powell will be ok to start next week after a 4 month lay off. Callum was decent when he came on and deserves a start as no way is he worse than what we have and deserves a chance.
Now he’s scored a penalty which is his only goal in 4 games guess it stands to reason he will now score 15 more which would be a goal every game.
Amazing that a business that hasn’t produced in 25 years is still running! Whose fooling who?
My memory failed me slightly as the lads mentioned made their debuts over 25 years ago. Point is its hardly been a production line!
I’ve been watching 38 years and I can’t think of one thats come all the way through to be a first team regular. Baines amd Callum were released by Everton and came to the academy later on.
To maximise your investment may be better for you guys to stay down. Grigg won’t cut it in championship as you’ve pointed out. Absolute panic buy and seems your forms hardly improved since he’s been in team.
He says there’s a huge risk in bringing on young lads. Why do the club keep sending out all these positive messages about the academy with the annual report stating how us developing our own players is the way forward when since Flores was sent off at Oldham not one lad has been given a chance.
Good point that. Thought we played some decent stuff and great to see Powell back on the field.
