My reference to Shilton was around the fact he got nowhere near any pen! At least Shilton went the right way. Carsons technique and the way he sold himself on every penalty meant it was easy for their players to see which way he was diving. Anyway. Onwards and upwards!
As well as Carson played in the match his penalty saving technique was awful. He commits far too early making it easy for the opposition. Reminded me of Shilton in Italia 90. Ali has so much more spring and when you think how many he has saved could have made the difference.
All clubs sing the same words to YAMS. They arent gonna sing ‘you’ll never know dear’ ffs. The FA cup song is generally sung as ‘We know what we are’ and the song we pinched from Zulte is original to this country as was the poznan to City. Watched Derby on TV a few weeks ago and they were copying it. If it wasnt for ES2 our ground would be like a morgue.
Sat in main stand for one of FA cup games and atmosphere was bloody awful. Oh and on Saturday the ‘Theyre here, theyre there, theyre eveey f***** were Savilles kids’ even had the Leeds fans applauding. Our unorignal fans who sing classics such as ‘lets hang on’ and ‘im a believer’. Bloody rubbish Wigan.
Could have sworn that at Wembley ‘Championies Championies’ is always played post match alongside ‘We are the champions’. Why does it make Wigan fans look thick? They are using the word in its correct context according to its definition so what’s the problem? It’s always ‘Well nobody else does it’, ‘ I’m embarrassed’, blah blah blah. Simple then. Don’t sing it. For those ‘thickos’ who choose to let em get on with it. Have we not all done that for years?
Nobody comments when on Tuesday night a large section of the East stand sing ‘Ingerrlund’ when a young Asian lad in the Leicester end celebrated his teams goal. That to me is far more worthy of criticism!

Never seen it as a problem!
Uwe has managed 2 points on average since taking over so we would be 3rd on 78 points (one behind Burnley).
No big deal. If we dont get in play offs 5 clear, game in hand and 4 home games coming up seems little point going up anyway. Was daylight robbery us getting a point. Too many had a day off. Key now is Rosler knowing his starting eleven come May and assuring top 6 for Burnley match so lads can rest up.
Looked gash for us. Cant even get in Division one side.
But as Sharpys closed in February have the club failed to honour this potential ‘perk’ for the rest of the season!
Geez you’re excitable. Forget emotion. Facts are in last ten games both ourselves and Burnley have 22 points from 10 games. On paper they have the easiest run in and have (even if we win games in hand) in effect a ten point margin with 11 games remaining. We have been in the top 6 for around two weekends this year. Rather than concentrate on catching second who are 15 points ahead I would imagine there’s more sense looking to retain our place in the play off places. Geez. Some people don’t half get carried away!
Not saying we shouldnt aim to keep winning but on league form Burnley are actually in better form than us over the last ten games.
We would have to beat them to get it to 6 points (7 realistically with goal average). Sorry but 9 or 10 points at this stage is a tough turn around. Cementing play off place priority till mid April. Can’t see anyone taking a punt on him yet. Martinez had a much better reputation prior to him coming to the club and though the turnaround has been impressive he has inherited a good squad of players. Would take at least another couple of seasons with us in the Prem to be offered a job worth leaving for. Still. If his current contract is due to end in 14 months might be an idea to get him to extend!
Given we are only just in the play offs i think talk of us catching Burnley is rather premature. 15 points (or 9 if we win games in hand) is pretty substantial with 11 games to go given Burnley are in even better form than us in the league over the last ten games. They actually have a similar run in to us on paper so would take us to win pretty much every game from the last 13 to go past them which is unlikely. Best to take it a game at a time!
Without playing a game we have gone from 8-1 to 3-1 for promotion. If Burnley collapse looking at table second is more than possible. Either way the teams in the play offs are hardly on fire!
A champion (from the late Latin campio) is the victor in a challenge, contest or competition.
