I’m just mystified as the huge turn around of players every transfer window, quantity over quality.
Surely it would be better 2-3-4 in same out and give them more time on the pitch. One other thing I’ve noticed over the past 12-18 month. The players we actually spend money on are the ones first ones to be loaned out and replaced with…yes loanees, weres the sense in that ?.So let’s see, Obertans last competitive match was at the beginning of December. So in those 6-8 weeks what’s he been doing ?, on a lager/kebab bender, curtains, closed watching boxsets all day ?.
Considering he’s probably trained and kept fit since junior school I can’t believe he can become so unfit he can’t play minimum 1/2 a game of football once-twice a week. Surely he kept himself in good shape just to tick over especially so close to the Jan window.I think he’s here on a personal level and nothing more. To get himself fit and ready for the summer transfer market and it has nothing to do with helping an old pal out.
14 players brought in, endless players out on loan that many I’ve lost count. We’re like a giant culender for players in the hope we get one good un.
He will have to play like Ronaldo to get any credit but by the sounds of his fitness levels he’ll be more like the Brazilian Taybarns Ronaldo, eat-all-you-canI have a feeling the situation with Coyle might have an influence on Sharpe’s next move. With 13 games left does he hope and prey Joyce can turn it around and start picking up the 3pts per game we need or, get shut and hope a change of face and idea’s will give the players the new manager syndrome and get us out the muck.
If he doesn’t and Blackburn escape Sharpe will no doubt get his nose rubbed in it for not making the change.
For me, Joyce would have to go and go now because without a change of manager we’ll go down. And as for the similar Alan Hansen quote of you don’t win anything with kids, we let Le Fondre go when he would have been far better suited upsides Bogle and Gomez call him all you want it’s the experience we need.
If it’s kids you have then it’s kids we play but I don’t call young men of 21-22 yrs old kidsSomething’s gotta change, we can’t carry on the way we are. With Burton playing Blackburn Friday and say Burton win and we were to lose on Saturday the sh#t pit of a hole gets that bit deeper.
I don’t think it’s solely the players fault, the buck stops with Joyce and his preferred tatics of “Lets not lose” instead of a “Lets go and win”. Far too negative for me.
Your right an attacking midfielder would help but if Obertan is not fit after not playing for 6 weeks what chance has Gilbey ?JR my point is if he wasn’t fit to play when we signed him then we shouldn’t have signed him. We lost our winger and needed a winger who could contribute to saving us from relegation by playing games.
Totally disagree, he is a superb signing who was wanted by better clubs than us but has done is old boss a favour.
He’s here to get fit for a bigger things. Do you think he’d be here if we trained Christopher Park ?’ Total utter waste of time. Joyce fook off Blackburn and take fat baldylocks bestie mate with him.
Superb signing pmsl, classic statement based on hope n preyGrigg will stand a far better chance in a better side with width whipping balls in.
Let’s no forget, he was on loan at MK Dons when he was scoring goals Deli Ali behind him then with us in Div1.
It scares me that Joyce seems to think that if your an attacking midfielder or winger he”ll see you as a forward,
Yanic, Powell, Obertan all in he’s eyes forwards which leads me to think he doesn’t like playing with wide players, he prefers to re-label them and, stick them elsewhere. He’s not a whipping boy he’s just not scoring similar to a defender not defending.
Good forwards make their own luck. There’s also the matter of working off the ball, then balls in the air, can’t jump and twice on Saturday a good ball was whipped in to the box from wide while Grigg was just entering the box.
Grigg requires quality service something teams like us don’t have we sell as soon as we get them.
He doesn’t suit us in the Championship and personally I don’t think he can hack the Championship were there’s a slightly better quality of defender, he’s far to easy to mark.
Griggs goal scoring record this season speaks for itself. It’s time to give Laurent and Mandron some playtime. As we are were going down so we might as well. And as for Obertan ?, he must pissin his side’s on the bench while flicking through a Thomas Cook brochureFor me it’s time for Grigg to be dropped and give the young lads we bought a chance. If Joyce is hell bent on flooding the middle of the park and one up front then at least get some fookin width on the field.
Can somebody ask him how many points he believes will be enough to stay up, and see if they can get a straight answer.I think 6 wins from 14 will see us stay up. The reality is, we’ll more than likely get 6 draws from 14 and 0-0’s at that.
Exactly my thoughts, we needed the 3pts far more than Preston did which showed in the last 20.
What is the point of Obertan been here if he’s not fit ?. He must be at Wigan so he can get in shape and lose the Christmas kench for his summer hols
It’s the simple Joyce mentality rule of :- “Let’s not lose this !” rather than saying to his players:- “Let’s go out and win this”. You say 2 up front but Bogle spent a a lot of 2nd 1/2 pulling out to the left making up for the lack of any natural width within our squad.
Too many work horse midfielders and no width while Obertan looks on…oh sorry he’s a forward .., if you play wide in Joyce’s eyes your a forward ffs.
Play six games and draw 4 lose 2 = 4pts
Play 6 games win 2 lose 4 = 6pts
Let’s go down fighting and take the odd risk.
We were on top and what do we do ?, yep 2 midfielders off 2 midfielders on. For me Joyce’s negative scared to take risk style of football will 100% send us down and another 15 in 15 out will take place.
And as for Grigg ?, I’m sorry to say but it’s either a case of he’s not harsed or Div1 is his level. Simply not good enough unless it’s on a plate from 6ft out. It’s time for him to be dropped he was awful today and why he can’t jump God only knows.
Joyce needs to face it, it’s time for change either tactically or player wise it’s simply not working.
For me it’s abit of both, and when Obertan rang and begged to come to Latics was it to put the cones and bibs out at training ?.
Very Martinez like, sticks to a system hoping that at the end of the day he can turn around and say “Told you so….” but without change he”ll never get the chance to utter those wordsIt was only one point dropped. We set up and went for one but lost and dropped the one.
If anyone on here has any contacts at the club is there any chance they could nip round and remind the management that there are actually three points to play for in a game.Don’t worry please, it’s only an Iceberg (Edward Smith Titanic). Oh and we did drop one and it stunk er shiitte
Dont worry squad we have division one will be a piece of cakeWhy ? Do you know who were buying next season because these lot will be gone.
More rebuilding ahead
I would also drop Burn and put Bruce in for experience.
You for real ???, he had a stormer. Last ditch tackles are all apart of a defender’s game. The tackle he made in the box when chasing back a one on one was top draw and the one on the dead ball line skinned him and came away with it. What game were you watching ??.
If we can add a little bit of width even on one side I can see goals.
That second half was exactly what Wigan fans, want to see regardless of the result, players giving it 100% and we could have nicked at the death.
Bogle is a breath of fresh air and like Heskey he’s not scared to drop back in and do some defending duties when needed.
I would sooner go down trying and drawing 2-2 or losing 3-2 with 2 up front as opposed to 0-0 draws 1-0 losses with 1 up front.
Bruce is a far better centre half than Burn with nigh on 50 games worth of Premier League football as opposed to just 9 with Burn. As for the last ditch tackles, what I meant was they are usually tackles that redeem him from an initial mistake that wouldn’t have been called for had he read the game better in the first place! Yeah he has his moments of brilliance ( Don’t most footballers? ) but on the whole the lad is calamitous, almost ‘Bramblesque’ and I feel that Bruce is a far better proposition at this present time.
All defenders make mistakes, for me it’s the hardest position on the field. While a forward can miss 10 efforts then redeem himself with goal and become the hero a defender can make 50 tackles in a game then one slip and he’s the bad guy.
Like I said , all defenders make mistakes, what makes a good one from a bad one is he can redeem it.
Please name me a defender who doesn’t make mistakes and if you do he’ll be in the 40-50 million bracket. And if you think Bruce wont then …… The worse the team the more pressure is put on defenders and more mistakes are made. This doesn’t make them bad defenders,,,, fook me Leicester won a championship with Kante saving the day or they’d have be near the bottom like they are this season. -
