There is no place for sectarian walks in this day and age, another reason why I don’t condone the Rangers friendly!
Just ordered mine, should be here next week? As long as it comes before the first home game I ain’t really bothered mind! ;)
It’s like ‘Football Manager’ versus good old ‘Monopoly’!
He’d be found wanting in The Championship in my opinion!
It was actually 7.57pm, I checked my phone just as the first ball was kicked! What do I win?
who did you play for VAT?Slumberland! :)
A lad I worked with had a trial at Latics, was invited to an arranged game but sat on the bench for 75 mins or so. Came on bagged 3 goals and had 2 more superbly saved by the keeper. His excited parents were told after the game that he wasn’t what they were looking for. They see things we don’t Dave, that’s why they are paid scouts and we are not. As I said no disrespect, I’m just trying to give you a reason as to why the lad was overlooked.
Yeah but he was good enough for Burnley…..yet is a Wiganer, and captain of Wigan boys at his age group. Something wrong there, for me.
So obviously I can spot a player. You’ll not convince me that as someone who’s watched football, from North West counties, up to international level since the early 80s, that I can’t spot a player. I’ve seen the very best in the flesh, Messi, Iniesta…they’re right up there, the original Ronaldo, Roberto Carlos. Ive seen the other end too, a player at skem called Keith Tierney. Ex Everton youth. Tons of ability….liked a pint and had a big gut. Another Tony Kelly, who never made it due to lack of self discipline. Another one called Brett Goulding. Great player, but indisciplined. Would get sent off and into fights with supporters etc. Nutter.
I’ve also seen some players who I rated really highly…Zurawski, at Wisla Krakow, went to Celtic and scored a load. Jarasik, at Sparta Prague…stood out like a sore thumb. So much so, I went to Jewell about him. He thought we weren’t a big enough draw for him, as a championship club. I actually disagreed and thought we could get him cheap from the Czech club. Anyhow, he eventually later came over here to Chelsea, Via a Russian club. Played against us for Birmingham, I think. Point is, I was proved right about him being good enough, which gave me some satisfaction. We’ve had plenty players over the years who have had me scratching my head about their ability as a player. Pinching money, I think the term is. Steven Appleton? John Robertson? Greg Strong? I’ll tell you what though, considering we signed Phil Daley from the Cheshire League, he did really well for us in his time here. Don Page did ok too. If he had finished as good as he could run fast, he wouldve been top class.
A robot can play a lot of this modern football. So many average players in league one, let’s be honest most teams weren’t up to much.
Football scout! Is there no end to your talents!
‘Little Wigan’ is surely the best nickname!
Shutting the Rovers fans up ( Not that they were making a noise anyway ) by drawing 2-2 after being 2-0 down at halftime !
I saw this morning, Max Power, Dave Perkins, Jamie Walker and a few more of the lads have flown out to Vegas this morning. I know Max is going to watch Elton John there on Tuesday.Hope the lads have a great time, they’ve earned their break this season.
Enjoy lads.
Well I’m afraid it’s ‘Goodbye Yellow Brick Road’ for young Max ;) Not Championship standard by a long chalk! Now ‘Daniel’ (Burn) on the other hand :P
No proper United fan or Chelsea fan would abbreviate their grounds in such a way. Its the new found middle to upper class bastards who are coming out with this crap.It will always be Old Trafford or The Bridge, etc to proper supporters. It’s proper cringey.
We are Latics. Alway have been, always will be. We should never ever allow that to change. It’s our identity.
But ‘The Bridge’ is abridged ( No pun intended!) ;)
The players looked like they hated it. I mean one of them actually jumped into teh stands to get away at one point.
That isn’t surprising though, trying to avoid having two or three pissed-up blokes jumping all over you.
I could be wrong ( Social media ambiguity and all that ) but I think he was being sarcastic! :)
Perhaps clubs could provide guaranteed seating in their away ends specifically for parents with young kids and the older fans? Away contingents invariably stand, that’s the way it is!
Any away end these days tends to be guaranteed seating! It’s just people are awkward and choose to stand, usually not where they are supposed to be sitting. Police and stewards are not tough enough and people get away with being dick heads.
Glad we won and all that yesterday but the rest of it was a shite experience. I said we wouldn’t go away again. But if we do, I’m not sitting anywhere near the front. No good with little ones.
I meant a designated area, say the end 4 or 5 seats top to bottom on either the left or right! Better idea, the first few rows, sorted!
Southport A, Chorley A, Accrington A, Liverpool H, Glasgow Rangers H.Be good, that.
Rangers! We don’t want no fucking Huns coming down here wrecking the place!
