For all of you who knew we would win the FA cup at the start of the year and we would qualify for Europe automatically well done, not me I’ve no jollies left, so I`m hoping we get through this group then in the new year every away game in Europe for myself and her indoors, I hope you all have a fantastic time and sing your hearts out, this is one jealous fan here ENJOY .
Ahhh – so THAT’s why you’re so grumpy on here. Now it all makes sense. Sorry to hear you can’t make it. Reckon we have a good chance of getting out of this group though. :)
 Brilliant! The Arky’s line had me in stitches!
Only losing McCarthy is a real coup and I can’t say I’ll miss him. £13m is brilliant business, even if we haven’t signed another striker (yet…).
On the same day that a British footballer is sold for £85m, an 140 year old club, Kettering Town, goes into extinction because of a £58,000 debt.Says it all really. :(
Appalling. Football has officially eaten itself.
The problem with signing loan players outside the official window, is they can only be available for a max of 93 days. :woohoo:Daft rule but everything about the transfer windows is shyte.
But isn’t there also something about you being able to sign loan players permanently at any time during the season?
Cheers Ross – that’s settled my anxiousness somewhat!
Doesn’t look there’s going to be much demand based on that gash draw eh?
UEFA website or on TV on British Europsport 2
Someone has plenty time on there hands
Says the man posting at 9am on a working day…
I work for a small company and if we started making less money and the gaffer said to me “you have been absolutely brilliant for us constantly punching above your weight and that’s why we want you to stay and take a pay cut. By the way we will be selling your nice computer and desk and swapping it with a less expensive model and you wont be getting that new office we promised you” I would be off in a heart beat.Fair point, but did our gaffer, DW, say any of that?
And what you haven’t also mentioned is that you were recruited for a not insignificant amount of money to take the company to the next level and repeatedly promised us (despite 4 years of under performance) that that was where we were going, but at the end of it just spunked the investment of 20000 (well maybe 10000) ultra-loyal customers. ;)
Feels like Xmas eve.
Not a bad evening overall – some tricky fixtures taken out of the mix, but also lost some decent options in France and Germany. AZ and Atromitos abandoned after an hour due to a fire and will be completed tomorrow before the draw. Fenerbahce’s replacement to be a lucky dip in the morning from tonight’s losers

Gents – if you don’t like the topic then don’t engage with it.
I think that the nature of Bob’s departure after what is by and large an unsuccessful 4 year tenure (allbeit with some moments of magic), despite what was promised by someone so loved, has touched many a nerve – mine included.
Had he kept us up and then gone there would be no hard feelings, just as with PJ a few years back. I certanly didn’t follow PJ’s fortunes as closely afterwards, but I was saddened by how he wasn’t been able to recreate his success at Wigan. That’s because he left us with a good taste in the mouth, unlke Bob’s bittersweet departure.
At the risk of getting splinters in my sphincter, i’m going to sit on the fence and say a nice mix.I want one big team from pot 1, some one like Milan etc. and then preferably easier matches in decent destinations that we have a good shot of winning.
I’ll join you on that fence ross – exactly what I’d like too. No point being this competition if there’s no ambition to progress.
Looks like Milan isn’t on the cards just yet though.Getting very very excited about Friday now. So much so that, even though I only need to wait till Friday for 3 teams, I’ve spent the last couple of evenings researching where each team left in the comp is from and how I might get there. I thought my knowledge of Europe was pretty good, but it’s been a real eyeopener. Below is the list that includes everyone already qualified, CL losers and the ties to be played Thurs night (I’ve left out Swansea and Spurs opponents as they’re all but gone).
Airports are based on travel from London, so may be different from Manchester/Liverpool. Some are also train-able. Some very tricky places to get to, esp. some which are a good 4-8 hours from the nearest airport by train/bus/car (based on rome2rio.com). I’d like to avoid the ‘stans, ‘ans and ia’s in the draw. Law of averages suggests 1 will be doable, 1 will be tricky and 1 will be dodgy (racist/hoolie/unstable).
Praying our first game, not the second, is away!

I think BST is 1 hour behind CEST which should be 1 hour ahead of CET.
In that case, 12.45 CET should be 12.45 BST.
Who is going to represent Wigan at the draw? What do they think?
Huh? That’s even more confusing!
CET is 1 hr ahead of GMT, and CEST is 1 hr ahead of BST. So Monaco is 1 hr ahead.
According to Sky EPG and Radio Times the draw live on Eurosport 2 at 12pm our time, 1pm Monaco -
