you r a buffoon.

Buffoon! Another good word, one used by my primary school head-teacher. When he as being less playful he would refer to you as a blithering idiot.

Griff, I for one, have never accused anybody on here of being “up Whelan’s arse”. I don’t know whether you were implying I did or not, but no, I’ve never thought that.

Nope, I wasn’t

in reply to: People Are Getting Cocky #8833
Hope that wasn’t aimed at me you scoundrel

Scoundrel? That’ll have some of our more intellectually-challenged posters robbing someone’s dictionary to see what the hell you’re on about.

Great word that, scoundrel.

Not as good as “agog” though. As in, I was agog when the transfer deadline passed without a new striker coming in.

Griff,

Don’t know why you always have to come out with a snotty reply.

I’ve accepted now how our club is. The majority have NOT.

I also think it will really be touch and go whether we survive or not, this season. That is my GENUINE feeling.

But what can we do? Nothing.

Terrible state of affairs though, when you sell all these players for millions…….and are not in a position to use the money to buy similar standard replacements. Kind of like trying to climb a glacier in slippers, I imagine. Your trying your best to hang on, but eventually…..there you go. You slip down. :(

Well, partly because I was roundly accused of knowing nowt and being up Whelan’s arris yet now people (apart from those who have been put on holiday by JayT) are coming round to the balanced, sensible view once they have been presented with the facts.

Plus, it’s great fun being a sarcastic, snotty get. Much better than calling people “koonts” and other such examples of wit and repartee.

As for not surviving – surely that is precisely what Whelan is trying to do. If you mean won’t survive in the Premier League then yes, I’d be disappointed when it happened, but we’d still have a team to go and watch.

And as a positive by-product, maybe all those half-wit morons who have latched onto the club in recent years might disappear too. Note that I DO NOT include you in that category.

It’s all fine and well people saying ‘sack the board’, but who on earth is going to step in and take over.

In all honesty, my eyes were opened with that finance thing that someone (I’m sorry I forget who) posted on here last week. Until then, I had been full of criticism for Whelan, calling him a tight so and so for not spending money on players.
However as it transpires that our clubs outgoings are something like 42 million, and our incomings are around 38 million, it doesn’t actually leave us with a lot to play with, does it?
Add the fact that our debts have been offset by loans arranged between Whelan and Barclays bank, and it really madce me think a lot differently, and see what position we are in. Other clubs such as Blackburn, are in the same boat. They sold Santa Cruz, and we sold Valencia. And neither of us are loaded from it. A sad indictment on todays game? It’s a sad indictmant of the world in general, as it happens.

After learning this, I now get the picture. Without Whelan sorting these loans out, we’d be a lot worse off. In trouble, most likely. So I think people need to look further into it, before saying ‘sack the board’.

I discussed it with some chaps who sit near me on Saturday, and they were shocked, but came around to the same way of thinking, which is there is no better person to step in and take over, as it happens.

Hark! Is that the sound of a penny dropping?

Bare in mind…

Oh, the Freudian irony of it all :geek:

in reply to: KANU? #8728
Why the f*ck would you want me to stop going?

I refer the honourable gentleman to the answer I gave some hours ago.

You know, the bit about humour

in reply to: my analysis – for what its worth #8727
I rate Hugo but I don’t see him as Wigan’s answer to Kevin Davies, his undoubted skill comes to the fore when the ball is on the floor.

I confidently predict that Kevin Davies will do NOTHING this season. I know, because I have bought him for my fantasy football team. Last season’s let down was Robbie Keane, so I have previous.

This year’s other inspired purchase? Yep, Emmanuel Adebayor  Bring on another season of mediocrity.

in reply to: KANU? #8708

How old is he? 38, or something?

Not being funny, but if we start signing players like that, then I really WILL have to think about packing in going.

Christ, everyones happy enough after winning yesterday, and then you have to come out and suggest we’d sign a player who is very, very, past it.

Frankly, I’m stunned.

Please please bobby sign him asap!!!!!
Why on EARTH would you want us to sign him?

Was rubbish at West Brom, and is rubbish at Portsmouth.

Would DEFINITELY be a backwards step, that.
I think he was referring to the possibility that you might stop going if we did sign Kanu.

I also think it is known as humour

in reply to: West Ham’s goal at half time #8707
It was never a foul anyway that lead to the free kick. Just sayin like.

Absolutely right, and in my opinion, that was the reason Wiley blew when he did because he knew he’d got it wrong.

At least that was one thing he got right

in reply to: Gomez #8656

think gomez would be different again if we had some 1 who would put his foot in midfield and win the ball to give gomez more time on the ball

You have to make your own time and space in the Premiership thats if your good enough?
Agreed. I think the lad is a class player but he is way, way too slow and wants way, way too much time.

We can’t afford the luxury of giving a player like him the time to catch up with what the Premier league is all about.

That said, I see the witch hunt is in full force, if all the nobheads in front of me slagging him off anytime the ball even looked like going anywhere near him are anything to go by. At least wait for him to f*** up before you have a go. Still, nothing like jumping on a bandwagon boys, is there?

in reply to: Has anybody really enjoyed the prem? #8478
Going up obviously fulfilled Whelans dream, but how many Wigan fans are happy? The day of any promotion looks good, but do you think of who you have left behind? Games against say Tranmere would be special, but there are none of those games any more. Going to the match, do you ever feel happy or actually meet Wigan fans who are happy? This weekends home game, just on the off chance we win the game 6-0 you would still see home fans diving for the exits with 10 mins of the game left wouldnt you? Be completely honest if you do it and say why, but if not you must still see it and do you believe we deserve a premiership club with support like this? We can see the chairmans losing interest and if as looks the case the fans are losing interest, do we really have a future?

Wouldn’t mind one bit if we went down but I have enjoyed every minute of the Prem and will continue to do so as long as we are in it.

Now, my watch says its 19:31, so drink your glass of milk, turn on your Thomas the Tank Engine alarm clock and get off to beddy-byes

in reply to: Wait for it…!! #8462

Wigan Rugby, Blackburn Rovers, Wigan Rugby, Blackburn Rovers, Wigan Rugby, Blackburn Rovers, ……………………………………………………………………………………………………………………Blah, Blah, FOOKIN Blah………………………………..

They asked him if Wigan was still a rugby town. He answered as above and – to date – the rugby hasn’t been mentioned again.

They asked him about his broken leg whilst playing for … Blackburn Rovers!! Who do you expect him to talk about?

Don’t let the facts and all that, though eh?
Facts? That’s ALL he ever talks about. FACT.
Ergo, if he only talks about facts then he must, by definition, be right :geek:
