Clarke Carlisle is one of the most boring commentators around and I’ve never understood how he gets on in punditry.
It’s very easy for people to jump onto this bandwagon, forgetting all the good Whelan has done for sport generally….3 – 2 win, even with our leaky defence…
Can someone just remind me of the mighty boro’s history??? There’s only three clubs up there and they are the smallest..
Have you looked at the table the right way up ? 3 wins in 17.Forwards goal tally’s playing his tinker-system Riera 1, Fortune 1,Waghorn 2 Delort 0…..working a treat isn’t it ?
There are benefits to playing two up front, you only have to look at Grant Holt. He looked liked he couldn’t hit a barn door for us but seems to be making an impact at Huddersfield. They play two up front by the way.
There does seem to be a rift between our players and manager which is evident on the pitch… We should not be in the bottom three with the players we have so maybe the manager should look at formations. Our goals for is pretty poor when all said and done..
Grant Holt couldn’t hit the proverbial “barn door” on Saturday for Huddersfield. He skied the ball over the bar from 2 yards out with goal at his mercy. :woohoo:
It was always going to be risky using Grant as an example… Not saying he is good but he does seem to be a different player for them.
Maybe i’m old fashioned in thinking two up front can form a partnership but that too takes time to come. So using it for the odd game will not work.
As a previous post, the constant rotation is the root of our problems I think.Have you looked at the table the right way up ? 3 wins in 17.Forwards goal tally’s playing his tinker-system Riera 1, Fortune 1,Waghorn 2 Delort 0…..working a treat isn’t it ?There are benefits to playing two up front, you only have to look at Grant Holt. I’ve heard the same Runcorn… He’s a character so should go down well.
Gabriel OberTAN
Amir Khaki
Two that spring to mind for me are Peter Atherton & Joe Parkinson.. Stood out like a sore thumb playing for us, great players.
Didn’t come back to haunt us cos we were lower league then but both went on to play top flight football, and were pretty good to boot.
Joe Parkinson’s career was cut short by Viera if i remember correctly??
Wolves fans are not too confident about playing us tomorrow. Seems they have a suspect back four and could well lose to us. This might be a game for us to play 433 or dare I say it, 442 and try to build some confidence.
Scoring goals is a problem for us so something needs to change. Whether it’s a 442 or a 433 we need to play more positive and take the game to the opposition. The games against Birmingham and Forrest showed glimpses of what can be achieved, we just need consistency.
If we are attacking more then this will take the pressure off defence so in theory should concede less?Just read that it has broken down on the M6 surely not DW penny pinching with diesel or is it Rosslers fault  :blush:It’s roslers fault, he must have subbed the normal coach :)
And then thumb a lift on the m6 toll :)
Hang on a moment, we are talking about Grant Holt, the bloke who used to try to jump but forgot to make his feet leave the ground??
Delort doesn’t look the best but to put him in the same bracket as Holt isn’t quite right.
Holt is over weight & an over rated player. Lets hope Huddersfield sign him when his loan spell is up.Thought it was a good entertaining game last night, especially for a 0 – 0. Lively crowd as well.
Great playing with two wingers but we don’t seem to win a lot of headers in the box. We don’t cause the opposition many problems on corners & set pieces either.
A bit of variation in our play might help. Few times last night we should have played it through the middle for someone to run onto but we passed it wide.
Let’s hope we find some consistency now!!
much chin wagging tonight about what we are after hearing chants in the ground at games. are we fa cup champions or fa cup winners. seems diferent people have diferent thoughts.
FIFA seem to know what the Germans are, so I suppose we were FA Cup Champions after all.

FIFA World Cup Champions, Premier League Champions, Champion The Wonderhorse, Danny Champion of The World: there have been manyYet still we are the only club in history who claim to have been FA Cup Champions.
Not strictly true SW. Sure I heard some arsenal fans singing FA Cup Champions on Sky Sports News when they won it in May! Maybe we are trend setters, as a previous post suggests..
