There’s a feeling of detachment. Caused by a combination of not having been able to attend the ground for almost 9 months (and realistically unlikely to this side of Easter) and the manner in which the heart was ripped out of our club.
Yes, we’ve been relegated before, but always came back fighting. This feels totally different.
Even last season (so it’s not my age
) I could tell you who the next 6 games were against, Boxing Day, New Year, last game of the season etc, this season I have to look it up virtually game by game.
Don’t get me wrong, when the day finally comes, I’ll be there but we will be down to the hardcore loyalists. Some would say that wasn’t a bad thing; it sure doesn’t feel like it at the moment.
How about allocating seats to season ticket holders in alphabetical order, that way fans from the same household could attend the match together.
Might work, but would the numbers add up ok?
Must admit as a “single” ST holder I’d not reckoned on the family groups of ST holders….so if there’s a family group of say 2 adults and 2 kids each with ST’s then they should be able to enter the ballot as a linked group. When any one of the 4 gets picked, the other 3 automatically get tickets for that game (and obviously all 4 are then removed for the next 3 ballots).
Talking to a mate earlier who reckoned it should be a straight ballot every match ie the first 2000 each time….he thought that was a great idea until I asked if he was ok with me being drawn out 4 games running and him not at all!!
No easy answer is there….reckon we’ll be in Tier 3 all season anyway so hypothetical
So if the near impossibility happens and we were allowed 2000 back, how would you go about allocating tickets?
My suggestion would be to use last season’s season ticket holder list (7500 or so??) as the starting point. So all ST holders could apply to enter a ballot for the first match. 2000 get lucky and the other 5500 miss out. Next match the first 2000 not eligible to enter, then it’s 2000 out of the remaining 5500 and so on until all ST’s (who want to enter the ballot) have been once. On the 4th round, put any spare seats on open sale, then the process starts again.
Any other suggestions?
It should be either all clubs can have crowds back or none can. It’s bound to cause arguments.Clubs will claim it’s an unfair advantage ,and rightly so ,if they can’t have crowds in and other clubs can.
Absolutely Phoenix. It compromises the integrity of the league (whichever division) when some clubs can have fans back and some not.
Just imagine the trouble if ManUre (in Trafford borough) were allowed 2000 in and City (in Manc) were not?We will be ‘twinned’ with Lloret de Mar United.
Not Real Madrid?
Having done the Bernabeu stadium tour, there’s a definite similarity between it and the DW….
Blue seats
I’ll get me coat
That will be the end of my season ticket if we have to travel to Leigh.
Are we sure the yanks didn’t mean Leigh-on-Sea? Used to live near there in a previous life!
Let’s not frighten anyone else off eh!!
Yes, even Pollard….or especially
PollardMr LenaganJust seen it on Facebook; sure does bring tears to the eyes.
Same here! What time is the announcement from the administrators tomorrow?
Still saying time to be agreed (by whom?) on the website.
Executions in England were carried out at 8am…that’s tea time in Hong Kong
Just seen it on Facebook; sure does bring tears to the eyes.
Our club is being taken from us, with the likes of Pollard and now Hemmings vulturing over the remains.
We cannot let it happen
Never mind “let’s Hang On”, we have been hung out to dry by every cheating / lying bar steward. Makes me so angry; probably like the majority of Latics fans.
Absolutely.
There was a thread “elsewhere” about what question would you ask Choi or Yeung if you could. How about “Do you confess now or shall we prepare the rack?”
The dark clouds are gathering, I’m afraid.
That’s being optimistic LHL….
The club’s now on life support, which the administrators have said in as many words they will turn off on 1st September unless contracts are signed by then.
If anyone was still in any doubt how bad the situation now is, paragraph 1 of the Administrators’ statement spells it out.
If a deal isn’t signed by 31st August they are shutting us down.
Short of winning the Euro lottery on Friday not sure what we can do about it.
We really are about fecked. Pollard may be our last hope
Get him signed up
Cook, Caldwell, Bobby, Jewell….
Spot the trend!
“The Ben Watson Stadium”
Good one.
Who could forget the goal he scored against Arsenal to start the comeback win in 2010?
This season no teams blew me away exemption Brentford
They were the best side I’ve seen as well but may not even go up!!!
Brentford deserve to go up far more than Fulham, plus it would wipe the smirk off Parker’s face
