”Devastated and fragile” yes only because the moron got caught by camera ive watched the cricket all over and this guy was and i mean was class he should never play for England again, he was like an animal and belonged more at a football game from the 80’s he’s got history since 2011 all minor I might add but he reminds me of these petulant prima Donna premiership footballer bye bye fella what a waste.

He hasn’t been charged yet, let alone convicted (apart from in the media)

Throw the book at him by all means then…But what about the “meeting” between Sir Ian B and that prat Chappell in Melbourne bar 1977 :woohoo:

David Warner still plays for Australia (Rooty has special plans for him no doubt come the winter).

A bonus point for scoring 3 goals. Whatever the eventual result. I became convinced of that after watching Liverpool v Newcastle April 1996 finished 4-3. Newcastle deserved something from the game. The next game I saw was the most awful 0-0 ever, can’t remember who so probably Coventry v Wimbledon. They should both have got 0 points.

Shake up the play offs. Give much more priority to the original table. 3rd is usually 10+ points ahead of 6th but they start again. Play off system should be final at Wembley as now, 3rd place should go straight to final. Play off series, 6th away to 5th. One off game, extra time, penalties etc. Winner then through to play away at 4th. Same again…loser out, winner into final at Wembley v 3rd.

Champions League…FA Cup winner should get the 4th spot. They are FA Cup “Champions”  The Cup Winners Cup was merged into the Champions League in 1999 ish, so appropriate for the FA Cup winner to be in the CL not the EL….

Whoever planned the fixtures needs their P45. I understand that most away games for Plymouth are a long way, but surely they could be given fixtures against Bristol Rovers, Oxford etc on midweek nights rather than a trip to Wigan!

Didn’t the EFL in their ultimate wisdom decide a couple of years ago that fixtures would be planned so the longest trips would be midweek? The plan was the derby and other shorter travels could be done on a weekend when more fans could travel.

Basically the away fixtures would be for the many, not the few. May be this works, May be it doesn’t. Cast your vote :woohoo:

Their keeper played a blinder. Save off Jacobs especially.

Full credit to the chaps tonight for sticking at it and getting the win. After so many chances having not lead to a goal it’s easy for heads to drop and think it’s not our night and give up.

We’ll be far less dominant on Saturday and win 3 or 4 nil.

The Pinotage tastes nice tonight; the Fosters in the Springy stand (D entrance bar) wasn’t chilled it was freezing. What will it be like in winter? :S

Just watched the highlights & not sure how anybody can say that wasn’t over the line.
His standing foot is clearly “just” on the line with his other swung back ready to kick…
Thought it was over on the night and convinced now. Linesman made a poor decision.

It doesn’t matter where his standing foot is – it’s where the pitch facing part of the ball is when he kicks it that matters & there’s no way that you can tell from that angle whether it is 100% over the line
I was sat in the South Stand for this game TL & in real time I was sure I saw the ball cross the white line fully. All about opinions of course, but just glad we won as that decision would really have peeved me.
I agree, but the only camera & viewing angle that would give 100% certainty as to whether it was overline is one from exactly where the assistant was stood & in their opinion it didn’t go over so I’d be inclined to agree that it didn’t – especially from having seen the footage
Given the way the ball hit the post then bounced on the line, I reckon the most likely explanation is the assistant saw the trajectory of the ball ie bounce straight along the line and hit the line, then looked elsewhere and missed the spin that took it over the line.

These things even out over time. Remember the Shearer “goal” in 2005 that wasn’t given? I was further away from that one than Tuesday’s, but it looked over to me!

Ironic that we played in the first official club game in England with goal line technology, albeit they probably switched it off at De Gea’s end to save electricity

    The camera never lies….usually :woohoo:

I have a photo on my phone of it bouncing on the line but I can’t get the damn thing up on here!!!
Just watched it yet again on mine…hits the post, runs along the line and crosses the line just before the defender clears it.

The defender’s right foot is on the line (his toes). He’s swinging his left foot back to kick the ball.

Put it on next week’s spot the ball and see where peeps think the ball is

Don’t get me wrong here…this was out stroke of luck…not getting the goal didn’t affect the winning result. Let’s hope we don’t miss automatic promo by 1 goal on GD :S

As I stated above I don’t think the Morsy shot went over the line and I had no way of telling if Grigg was offside from my seat in WS4. But I do feel that was an absolutely pitiful performance from the officials.

What does the Oracle of WS4 think from his angle? If he logs in again soon!

By my watch he arrived 6.5 minutes after KO…timekeeping Griff

I have to admit that from my angle in the Springfield Stand I didn’t think it had crossed the line and the fact that it took so many attempts to get an angle on TV that showed it actually did means that it’s understandable why the officials didn’t give it. Having said that, it would have been difficult for them to get it right as they got almost everything wrong during the rest of the game.

I know that there is a ref that posts on here sometimes and I’d love to hear his opinions on the officials. It started right from kick off when he asked Jacobs 3 times to make sure his big toenail wasn’t over the half way line before he deemed it ok to start the game. I honestly believe that the performance of the officials last night was as bad as any I’ve seen.

Obviously things can look different from different angles. Ultimately the ref/assistant between them didn’t give it and that’s all that counts sadly.

It was a stroke of luck for us, hopefully a sign of the season ahead, that the decision did not change the result.

Just to clarify, what I meant was it took me several attempts to stop the video clip on my phone at the exact point the ball was furthest over the line. The whole of the ball was clearly over on the angle from the 1 camera. We don’t have the luxury of multiple cameras anymore :(

Just watched the “goal” again on the Sky App thingy.

Took a few goes, but managed to stop the picture at the key moment. Ball 100% over the line from the camera angle.

I actually think this is a good omen for our season that we get the unlucky decision when it didnt affect the winning result. Last season that would have happened at 1-1 in a must win game or at 0-1 in a must not lose.

in reply to: Prediction for Tuesday Night ? #162088

Not a classic was it? But the points are on the board.

The kind of game we couldn’t buy a win last season!

That referee was a bit of a case. Fannying around over where that free kick was taken shrugging his shoulders but let them take another 20 yards literally with a throw in in front of us in the Springfield.

Not seen the “highlights” yet but sure it should have been 2-0 at the end…where’s the Russian linesman (or should I say person tonight) when you need them?

Points in the bag, job done. Tough game Saturday, but we travel in expectation more than hope.

    Up the Tics.

Good night and God bless

    2-0.

Given our great early goal difference, even a draw takes us back to second :woohoo:

We really should have played it on the 2nd; Northampton were there for the taking whereas now they’re nicely in form. I hope this doesn’t backfire on us.

Looking good so far isn’t it? Hardly a disgrace losing at Shrewsbury the way they’ve started. Just saying to a mate yesterday though, hope this season doesn’t turn into a reverse of 2 years ago

in reply to: Safe Standing Debate #161425

With the greatest respect to jay and the club who I presume have asked him to ask this I find it farcical that they don’t know the full facts about it. For instance it’s not 1 person per rail seat when the seats are locked upright it’s 1.5 per space.

Wasn’t aware of that, I thought it was the same capacity as seating, 1 per “seat”.

I voted (very narrowly) against. If that’s correct info, I’m now strongly against. Been to games years ago where you couldn’t put your hand in your pocket without elbowing the person next to you so I’m out….

Celtic V Linfield always has the potential to kick off…

    I’ve voted against, just.

A proper safe standing area surely is safer than standing in a seating area. But is it really the way forward for football to go back….
