I think we will have to be very lucky tonight to get even a point.

To be frank, whatever formation or personnel Yootha uses tonight, I can’t see us getting anything. I fear Yooth will start with Grigg tonight, we still get beaten and he’ll turn round and say it “proves” it didn’t work and Saturday we’re back to 5-5-0 in a game we really must be targetting for a win!!

The weather has gone milder and according to Metcheck.com no rain forecast…the positive for tonight end there

If Dave Snr were to ring up his old mate SAF and ask/beg him to come and help us out of this mess, does anyone really think SAF would leave 3 strikers on the bench?

Not unreasonably, people say give Yootha a chance in the transfer market, perhaps to bring in the so called wonder kids from ManUre (Powell used to be one didn’t he? :P ). A good chef can rustle up a tasty meal from the left overs in the fridge…no different for a footy manager is it?

Could be that his aim is not to lose rather than playing to win until he can get his own players in in january that he thinks can play the way he wants us to … but thats not working either :-)

Play any formation or tactics he likes, but ultimately managers are judged on results. 4 out of 5 games under Yootha we havent scored. He plays with no strikers…

We fluked the win at Huddersfield (penalties etc). Any team can fluke a result sometime – after all Barrow had a 100% win record in charge ;)

Sad to say, but I dont think Yootha will last much longer without a change of tactics (and preferably results)

Does anyone think young sharpie is regretting his decision to sack GC & was a tad too hasty in doing so.

He was too hasty for me as I’ve said before.

Coyle, Rosler, Mackay people on here and elsewhere were calling for their heads for a while before they went. Don’t recall much clamour for GC’s head.

Any club, surely, changes manager to improve…Which is more important, results or how we play?

Results for me. I dont care at the moment if we win ugly or lucky (aka Huddersfield). If we lose say 4-3 having given it everything, so be it. But to lose 1-0 having played with no strikers isnt good enough. To do it 2 games running ie not learn is not acceptable.

I fear we will turn into Blackburn’s manager merry go round. For me Yootha’s gone by the end of the year (or 2nd Jan) without a major change of tactics/luck :S

Never at the history of our club has a managers tactics more justified the statement but sticking everyone behind the ball playing no striker, hoping to gat to full time without conceeding is like watching paint dry. Watched Blackburn ans they lost too but a cracking game and at least they tried to win the game rather go down that way.

Totally agree Lowey.

If we’re going to lose, at least give it a real go; if the opposition does better than us on the day then so be it; at least we’ve seen a cracking game. One of the reasons I suggested a bonus point for scoring 3 goals ;)

Shutting up shop is ok (sometimes) away from home, but we’ve got to go for it at home.

I was quite hopeful when Yootha was appointed. Given his workings with the ManUre Youth, where attacking football is supposedly the rule, I thought he would really go for it here. Oh dear.

God alone knows what’s going on behind the scenes, but if Yootha as it seems, doesn’t rate Grigg, Le Fondre, Davies et al and goes to Sharpe asking for money for a new striker in January, why should Dave put his hand in his pocket?

I fear Wednesday will be a long night :S

in reply to: FAO warren joyce…. #152966

Let’s hope Sharpey has a word in Yootha’s ear sharpish about the tactics.

This nonsense can’t be allowed to go on.

No strikers, no goals, no points….

Wednesday looks like being a long, cold night. Bet Newcastle won’t play with no strikers.

I have a horrible fealing this season is going to turn out just like 2 years ago…sacked the manager and things got far worse under the replacement.

As I type, Rotherham are still playing, but looking like a win…at this rate we’ll be bottom on Boxing Day

Edit – Rotherham now won

Told you we’d get Notts F….

At least we’re at home :woohoo:

I want either Barrow or Carlisle away.

My first ever game was Barrow v Tranmere Rovers at Holker Street in about 1968. I remember a quagmire of a pitch, moving ends at half time and no stroker phones to keep up with other results ….. but small transistor radios.

And Mary Hopkins singing “Those were the Days” ……….

Carlisle would quite like to be in the 3rd round draw no doubt… ;)

Number 43 in the draw 7pm BBC 2 tonight who would you like barrow away would be nice

Strangely enough that’s what I was thinking, having walked past their ground a few weeks ago. Quite fancy a trip to Holker Street

I think Barrow might be hoping for a Premier League team

I’m in 2 minds as ever at this stage who we want to draw. Do we want lower or non league opposition for a couple of rounds; see a few of the big boys knock each other out and a couple of upsets as well…another Championship team in R5 and we can almost see the Arch again….

Or get ManUre/Chelsea etc at home and get a tonking but have a big day out?

We have a habit of getting a team from our own division away, so probably Derby or Notts F away….

in reply to: Todays game…. #152831

Unlucky to come away with nothing, but we were lucky to win on Monday (penalties etc) so it evens out.

Far better with Grigg on instead of Yanic trying to play as a striker.

Hopefully the penny’s dropped with Yootha.

in reply to: Grigg #152815

Players not fit at this stage of the season….I blame Coyle

in reply to: Use Rosler #152811
Says what??? In his first year he was just a little financial backing off taking us to the Premier League. A few Bob for a decent striker and we would have been up at first attempt.
Second year God knows what happened!!!

A decent manager to start the season would have sorted us. Instead we got Coyle

It was announced on here that we were about to announce McLaren as manager…what happened to stop it at the last moment? Someone ask him tomorrow lol

in reply to: Grigg #152810
One excuse after another, Yootha on radio earlier saying “Grigg isnt fit enough yet”, so dont expect to see our top scorer tomorrow against Derby.

Yanic up front on his own again then.

What about Le Fondre or even Davies with Yanic in behind?

Tickets for Newcastle fans have now gone on general sale. Allocation is 4800. Does anyone know why they don’t get the full 5400ish allocation?

At a guess presume they’re keeping the section nearest ES8 clear :woohoo:
Why? Are they going in the South Stand! :)
Haha, yes, it’s numbered the other way round in the East Stand…it’s my age
