Was back in the October of 2004 in our Championship promotion season, we ran out comfortable 4-1 winners in front of a pretty small crowd ( 7,547 )considering that we were top of the league! If we have more than 7,547 on this Saturday then it will be an improvement and at a lower level! Played with 3 forwards that night and an attacking midfielder, just sayin!

Yes I was in the audience that night! 4-1 against Coventry on the Saturday as well. Sadly I can’t make it on Saturday (family wedding  )

    Agree Jacobs looked good.

Apart from that, whilst the personnel have changed beyond recognition, the same problems persist.

Lots of possession but let down by poor final ball and poor defending.

We need 2 upfront. When will the penny drop…

Afraid Sharpes talk about smashing the league is looking rather foolish…………

Yet completely writing us off after one game isn’t ?

Yes we played (mostly) today, but a little perspective might be in order.
Yes.. today’s result was better for us than 2 years ago winning 4-0 at Barnsley.

Better because it’s given us (yet another) a kick up the arse that we need 2 up front; we need to score goals.

We need 4 points min on the board after Scunny…or I fear another long, frustrating season :S

We’ve had the biggest team changes for years…

Yes we do need time to gell etc.

Doncaster and Scunthorpe next at home. 4 points or we’re in trouble already

    £199 next season ST….

    Preparing for League 2 already.

Out of the Cup on Tuesday? I’m going who else is looking at the ticket sales?

Got my tickets yesterday through the post it won’t look like many in your block as its unreserved

Mine’s a specified seat in the Springy Stand (my ST seat). It’s showing up on the seat plan as taken.

I would step in to help……

…….. but it’s the “free will” thingy !!!!

Saving our season is beyond even your powers G

What a pile of old cack again. I keep hoping it will turn round; but it just gets worse.

“Get your coat Mackay” was being shouted at the end. I don’t think they were concerned about him being soaked.

Can somebody enlighten me to what this game is about?

Wigan are losers aren’t they, St Helens should be the ones playing the Brisbane Bummers or whoever

Its a pre-season friendly for the Australian side and the game attracts no points, no medals, no trophies.

It counts for nothing, yet the biggest sport in the world featuring one of the most well-known sides in the world gets shunted aside to make way for a little-old rugby friendly.

Now, run along and make sure you keep the pitch in good nick for the main event of the weekend. ;)
It’s a long way from Australia to come for nowt

Last night’s result was unexpected, but great…well done chaps.

Sadly one random win won’t save our season; we are still in a dire position.

Three winnable games to come; we simply must kick on and win and get at least 6 points from the next 3 games. This could be our moment (one way or the other  )

It’s their equivalent of the “Champions” League :S

your lack of positivity is quite astounding

It used to be there, just it’s been ground down by Coyle and MCKay, with some interference from Herr Rosler.

The only way is up Phil. Surely we can’t drop below Blackpool :S

Felt quite calm when I got home. Didn’t feel disappointed unlike most home games this season.

There could be a number of reasons for these thoughts….

    1. Expected to lose, so not surprised we did
    2. The performance, albeit in defeat, was far better than most games this season
    3. Accepted relegation is inevitable and past caring

Can’t remember the exact date, but we are 20 years since DW took over with the never to be forgotten comment of having us in the Premier League in 10 years.

We have been on the most amazing journey of any English club in that time. Now we’re facing a drop in Fortune..

Our time will come again. Plenty of clubs have had to drop to League 1 and then got back to the Prem eg Man City, Norwich, QPR….

On the 50th anniversary of Churchill’s funeral, we can genuinely say of 11th May 2013….”We have never seen a greater day”

A priceless memory to take to the grave, whatever happens in the future.

Carson had a good header in the box..nice flick on.

Shame no one got on the end of it.

    It’s all part of Mackay’s masterplan… ;)

Seriously though, when the keeper comes up for a corner in the last minute of a league game you know it’s getting desperate.

    Mackay OUT.
