Think its one of vats dancers warming up for his next gig.
Dont take offence vat , just a joke.
Also thers a young lad from Scholes done a few of his own songs and put um on youtube. Just type in GPEACHO in the search bar. good songs, worth a listen if you appreciate tallent.

dont give the smelly whelley the time of day,he has a worrier shirt on in one clip, which i dont mind so much, but in another video hes wearing a liverpool top and that i cant stomach.

jason De Vos, Alan Johnson and Colin Greenall were pretty good with their heads too.
My vote goes with Steve Walsh though.

the best was without doubt bobby cambell, closely followed by les bradd, john king and john rodgers for those old enough to know,
ellington in more recent times wasnt bad,the goal at west ham the season we came up,where he just hung in the air for ever was one of the best headed goals i have seen from a latics player.

    in reply to: Gomez #8688

just goes to show how opinions in football differ, diame looked a class act and will only get better with more games easily MOM ,thomas is one of those players who looks like he isnt doing much but you only realise how much you need him when he is not there, again this lad looks class and will only get better,
figgy for me at the moment is all over the show compared to him last season ,i hope the sunderland talk has not unsettled him, kirkland gets worse with every game,he doesnt command his area, and his kicking is woeful.

gomez, well what do you say,he has undoubted ability with the ball, but will he prove to be wigans ‘lee trundle’ – he is slow and gets caught with the ball to often.
nzogbia – i have been screaming for martinez to play him in his natural left hand side roll,so when koumas went off the stage was set,in fact he was worse then than when on the right earlier, for a player who is our record signing i expect more from him,in fact i will go as far as saying apart from odd occasions, since signing him in january he has been p!ss poor !!!

scotland – only one thing to say bring back agadododo or what ever his name is, i know that fans dont like king, but he scored goals for watford, hull and borough at this level, and seeing as we are stuck with him for now surely he cant be worse than scotland, and remember king only played for us with bruce’s hoof ball tactics,he may surprise us with martinez’s floor play.

scharner was mom at everton and gave us some ‘oomph’ when he came on yesterday, bramble and boyce looked steadier, melchiot is an ageless class act, koumas could easily play in the gomez position and where we all agree rodelega needs support-either a second striker or someone closer to him(ithe roll i think king could play)

martinez,- seems to have realised the need to move the ball quicker and sometimes you cant play football, when a battle is needed,he just needs to get sinclair on the pitch for longer and get both him and nzog running with the ball a little more.

“me” overall a little more relieved after the way we battled yesterday, my worry has always been pretty football is all well and good but teams like bolton , and stoke and blackburn will get stuck in to us and we need to adapt our game to suit.

whelan – still not saying why he’s treating the latics like a ‘stag market’ on the stock exchange.

    my edit

oh and last but not least- that feccing drummer-for christs sake lad i admire your endevour but please do one of to things – a) take a time out every 5 mins or so give us miserable owd gits a rest or b) go and have a few drumming lessons , i am sure there are plenty like me who would contribute to the cost.

————-“and as for Stephen Gage, wtf did he ever get involved in football?”————–

stephen gage was an interim , nobody knew or could understand his reasons for buying the club,or any affinity with the club he may have had.

I was told a story at that time that may or may not have been true, but it came from a friend/associate of kenyon himself who was very bitter over, what he thought was a swindle.

The story goes a wealthy investor wanted the club but did want kenyon to know so the price would not go up.
Gage was a distant contact of the prospective buyer and was used to conclude the purchase at a very cheap price, gage was a wealthy business man but no mega rich investor, within six months or so the club was sold on and gage disapeared into the distance, kenyon basically wanted out at any cost and sold to gage, but when he found out who the new owner was he was outraged.

and we all know who that new owner turned out to be.

standish i agree with everything you say,and i support his right to run the club how he feels fit and despite not agreeing with everything he has done i am generally in the pro whelan camp as i think the majority of wigan athletic fans are,but on the point you make where “we don’t technically have the right to ask whelan to explain himself ”
again you are right he doesn’t , but morally he owes us an explanation on the route the club has taken this year, and his future plans for the club, because he knows that there is unrest among supporters, otherwise why cancel his much hyped book signing.

—————–After reading that, it struck me that a sports retailer with every football fan in the country as a potential customer would probably be best advised NOT to associate itself too closely with ONE team.
After all, we’re a fickle bunch us supporters. We tend to be loyal to one team, no matter what. Well, some of us are, but maybe not all?

This loyalty is usually to the exclusion of all others and even shows itself as hatred of some rival teams. How do you think the average Bolton fan felt knowing that if he spent his money in JJB then it would benefit Wigan Athletic?

Now, I only gave this about 30 seconds thought and maybe 2 mins to type it. Hope it’s not drivel.——————

No your point is not drivel in fact you have hit the nail on the head, but the picture is much bigger than an odd noblot fan.

That was the reason whelan gave for not buying manchester united, because every man and his dog(except man u fans)hate them, and he thought that would effect his business.
Now with wafc it was different we were an insignificant poxy little club who nobody gave a hoot about, people just saw the way a little club was making good and apart from the odd jealous fan, everybody loves a fairytale, and whelan and the jjb empire exploited this to the full, which i fully support.
Look at that first premiership season,we were everybodies favourite second team, who gives a toss about a few bolton or preston fans that hate us when 99% of lower division teams fans saw the story unfolding and wanted there own david whelan, they loved him for it,they loved us and they loved JJB,we were the media’s darlings and as i said before a marketing mans dream come true.

The whole point i have made throughout this ‘whelan love or loathe topic’ is, in general terms whelan and his then jjb company had millions and millions in free publicity and marketing and the sums whelan has ‘invested’ in wigan athletic pales into insignificance when this is taken into consideration.
I have always maintained david whelan has had an agenda/motive for every thing he has ever done in life and the latics ownership and investment sat easily in that plan.

The question / point i am trying to get across now, is does he need wigan athletic anymore?
It now no longer fits into his business plan as neatly as it once did, the evidence is there for all to see,his drastic cost cutting measures, and requirement to pay back its debts(albiet to himself) has led to the most inexperieced squad we have had in our short premiership tenure,

and i for one want to know why.

”Now that the need for the ‘marriage’ is no longer required, or latics are not part of his long term business outlook, disposal is very high on his agenda.”

Wouldnt DW Sports replace the “marriage” that was once JJB , why would he give up the free ads for his new company?

You didnt really think it through that much did you?

i beg to differ, and suggest you typed your drivel without any thought,

pray tell me which are better bed fellows with a football club, a company that sells football related sports items as ‘a major part of its total sales output’, who every football fan in this country has probably purchased something from at one time or another,
or an company that panders to poseurs, overweight mothers and wanabe mr universe’s, who are that wrapped up in looking at themselves in the ‘gym’s mirrors’ they dont know that football even exsists.

    please tell me

in reply to: Marlon King #8018
As bad as King is, it would be total dereliction of duty to leave us with just 2 recognized strikers.

so mr 1% you actually class jason scotland as a regogmised striker ?
methinks you are in the 99% bracket.

in reply to: Yet more praise for Roberto… #7935

I never once said that Martinez is “God”. He has a lot to learn and we will undoubtedly lose more than we win under this style of play but I, for one, am more than happy to watch this style.

Everyone has an opinion – me, you, ex-pros, and if all those opinions were the same it would be a fairly dull world. The thing that annoys me about the likes of you and Bobby’swigan is that you appear to think that you are the ONLY people who are allowed to have an opinion and that you’re opinion is to be taken as fact and anyone who disagrees with you is a c0ck.

    Patently not true.

i have never once in my life said or believed anyone elses opinion does not count and i dont insult people like you either when they have a different outylook from yours, even though you more than deserve it.

but i will ask you again, please in your opinion,of which i value, tell me what is wrong in what i said ?

“i have never seen poorer and more disjointed displays with the most inept
tactics and painfully slow passing and movement in a latics side for many many years,
and that is down to one man”

perhaps this time you may answer without fudging or trying to score points

in reply to: What are people’s actual expectations? #7931

    What are people’s actual expectations?

a left winger on the left and a right winger on the right perhaps, or a manager who tries to mix it up when the way his team is playing clearly isnt working,no more signings from swansea, perhaps on the odd occasion a player to run with the ball instead of passing it when face with 2 banks of 4 opposition defenders.

oh and the chairman to stop making outrageous statements in the media and then going back on them in reality, plus a statement from him on way forward for him and wigan athletic.

not to much to expect is it

in reply to: Yet more praise for Roberto… #7928

but what do i know ? i have only been watching football for 45+ years

    And still learned nowt! :)

You’re right, not all ex-pros know everything. But they have probably forgotten more about football than 99% on this board will ever know about football.

And yes, you’re in the 99%[/quote]

so i am in that 99% am i ? and pray tell me where what i said is wrong

“i have never seen poorer and more disjointed displays with the most inept
tactics and painfully slow passing and movement in a latics side for many many years,
and that is down to one man”

seeing as in your opinion you and the other martinez is god brigade seem to think
you are the other 1%, and therfore must be right.

in reply to: Yet more praise for Roberto… #7907
Anyone else think that this meeting could of been a sounding out of him as to whether he wants to return in any capacity?

Especially with the rumours going around at the moment!

so is matt jacksons opinion worth more than say -mark lawrenson or gary lineker aor matt le tissier or any of the other so called pundits who regularly say things that you seem to think are anti latics.

now when some ex footballer gives an opinion that you can use to try and score a point against martinez’s doubters then it must be right.

no matter what ANY ex pro has to say i saw the displays v st mirren, wolves, man u and everton and read plenty about the display at blackpool, and no matter how you lot try and put a positive spin on things,
i have never seen poorer and more disjointed displays with the most inept tactics and painfully slow passing and movement in a latics side for many many years, and that is down to one man.

but what do i know ? i have only been watching football for 45+ years

Correct I of course meant South Stand…..

i used to sit behind the goals in the south stand about 10 rows from the front.
a couple of fishing tics who knew jimmy also got told the tale from other people who where there that night, another fishing mate of mine who only watches us every now and again used to mate about with bullard and he has loads of tales of the goings on at the latics/football in general,he went staying with him at easter and at that time he thought that he would never play football again

in reply to: Coincidence ? #7882
    He is on Holiday!!!!!!!!!

never stopped him from mouthing off in the past via long distance phone,
i always used to think sky sports news had a permanent link to his home in barbados just so the could get a “whelan quote” every now and then.
