Why, what match was on when I posted?
None – that was the other clown. You just got the wrong venue!
Good crowd for a friendly match at Leigh I thoughtTezza & Thiry whatever (posting on here during the middle of the match) clearly aren’t the super-fans they claim to be. ;)
I know, but the top top sides would have all signed up to lucrative overseas tours a long time ago. If you want a fixture, you then get left with those clubs that the far east/USA/middle east countries dont care about.
Even Sunderland have games in Portugal against top European sides, so we cant help you out!
Not forgetting there will be three less European fixtures this season.
A home friendly against a top side should be part of the pre-season. Maybe there’s still time to see if Burnley, QPR or Hull City fancy sending an XI over before their season starts.
You do know that EVERYBODY associated with Wigan Athetic who has an ounce of intelligence, and knows of you, thinks you’re an absolute lunatic, don’t you?And those that aren’t associated just think you’re a cock.
It seems Heysel has been airbrushed out of English football history to appease the Pity City.
“Always the Victim – Never our Fault”
RIP the 39.
We on about the same Whelan here ??? that’s like comparing broken glass to diamonds ffsIts all pro-rata. A club with an owner worth £50m that spends £5m on wages when they only have £1m coming in will go bust quicker than a club with an owner worth £5bn who spend £50m on wages with an income of £5m.
Fortunately for the Latics, Whelan’s bankrolling around the turn of the century proved a shrewd move, and the subsequent sales of the likes of Valencia & Palacios have meant that he hasn’t had to personally fund the disparity between money in and money out.
I can’t see the FFP rules making any difference anyway, and part of me thinks the rules themselves should’t have been brought in anyway.
If a club acquires a rich benefactor who wants to through billions at a club, why should he not be allowed to?
Why if you have small income through the turnstiles should you not be able to spend your benefactors money to improve yourself if he is willing to spend it.If I remember correctly, wasn’t this how the Latics got themselves out of the 3rd tier and on their way to the premiership. Clearly it wasn’t a billionaire owner, but Mr Welan did dig deep to assemble a well-paid squad to get out of that division and then on to the premiership a couple of years later.
Was the countries major sporting trophy paraded at an eggs match? I doubt it somehow.No. Mainly because they didn’t have a home fixture for about 5 weeks after the Latics won the cup, and those players (and manager) who hadn’t deserted them for other clubs after their relegation would have been on their holidays, so who exactly would have paraded it – a ball boy, the tea lady?
Grow up.
Chairman of Oxford United, maybe has a lot of business interests down there….more a football fan than a rugby fan. Saw him at Loftus Road after we’d lost at QPR in the league gameAnd of course DW never misses a Latics game?
Absolutely amazing !Someone has managed to hide the crowd, now that is Magic.
Looks like they learned that trick from the Latics last week when 4,000 went missing for the QPR game. On top of the 4,000 that went missing from the previous season. On top of the 7,000 that went missing straight after the 2013 Cup Final.
One hell of a trick that! Will a few more go missing come August?
Last night’s crowd was almost identical to the Warriors v Rhinos semi final last September, which was roundly mocked by some on here.
It seems that not turning up for playoff games isnt just a rugby affliction in Wigan after all.
Wiganers moan at anything what is going to cost them money jesus people were making excuses for not going to the fa cup final
we could say at least all our Cup final support were genuine fans, you’d expect that the some of the town would have got on the bandwagon for the biggest sporting event in the history of Wigan to make up the 25,000….but no, a fair chunk of the town made no effort to get down there and sat on its collective backside (probably in King St etc)[/quote]
10,000+ of those who went to the FA Cup Final (inc me and my son) were bandwaggoners. Your crowds of less than 15,000 home fans make this as clear as daylight.
Just been on the online ticket office and it looks like almost every block is under 25% full.Very surprised with that news – a sub-10,000 crowd for a playoff semi final for the right to play in the worlds’ most richest football match would not give a good impression to its worldwide TV audience.
The 2nd leg at Loftus Rd has almost sold out for home fans and its double the price.
One of those infuriating players who can play really well at one level, but isn’t able to progress to the next level.
It’ll be interesting to see how he plays over two games against QPR and possibly in a final against Derby. Will he continue to shine against two sides who have shown over 46 games to be more worthy of a place in the Premier League, or will the intensity of three premier-league standard games on the trot see him return to the Jordi of two seasons ago?
