Anyone else got that feeling that, against all the odds, it might just be our year??
Down to earth call:
no!
Maybe not, but I’ll bet you’ll be having some fun at work tomorrow.
Wrong forum, but interesting debate that has been had on many a drunken evening.
For the ultimate in noise reduction and decorum it has to be a ‘sit down wee’.
Mind you, the water is cold this time of year. ;)
My missus has replaced every toilet seat in our house with ones that never stay up, so forcing me and the lad to sit every time!
That’s two articles that are rational, well argued and backed up by facts.
Nothing odd about that until you remember it’s The Daily Mail.
The world has gone mad.
I can only see two reasons for this:
1. It’s a negotiating tactic (either Bob’s or Whelan’s). This means we are messing about a bit and taking a risk, but it’s still probably the right thing to try.
2. We really don’t have the money. If that’s true I am very worried. We’re desperate for a striker, probably above all other positions, and we can’t afford £4m. What the hell are we going to get for less?I’m not the worrying/moaning type either, but if it’s the latter of the above then I might start to be.
As I was typing I kept thinking that something wasn’t quite right, but couldn’t be arsed to check the spelling.
Ah, I thought you were doing it to wind him up.
It never, ever, ever, crossed my mind to try and pretend that I was doing that.
Oh, and do keep on being a smart Kaiber. There simply isn’t enough humour on this board.
Oh don’t worry, I will. Smarta***, funny, modest and Superfan – that’s me 8-)
I was in full agreement with you until just after smarta*** ;)
Whoknows – I cannot get involved in this debate until you confirm that “English flare” is really English flair and not some company manufacturing maritime distress mechanisms by royal appointment. As I was typing I kept thinking that something wasn’t quite right, but couldn’t be arsed to check the spelling.

I never stated that it was the decline in our support.
I said that we have lost a lot of fans because we have lost our heritage (english roots) and our Enlish flare (heart, passion).
Look at Leeds at Man u They played with heart and got a result. Then maybe we agree on more than we thought, but for me flare = skill. The kind of skill we see now from Nzogbia and that Koumas is capable of, but we rarely see.
I can’t think of too many English players with this definition of flare that have played for us.
I can think of English players that had heart and passion (Bullard, Heskey, Jackson, etc.), but I can also think of just as many foreign players (de Zeeuw, Scharner, Filan, etc.), so whilst the current crop may not be showing much fight, passion or desire I can’t agree that it’s as simple as blame Jonny foreigner.
…we have lost our heritage and english flare.
Until that point I was taking you seriously.
I do believe we have and im not on my own. I think that every team should only have a certain amount of non english in there starting squad, very similar like they did a number of years ago when you were only allowed 3 foreigners in the team.
I do believe it is the English Premier League and not the Multi Cultural league (well not yet)
I was really referring to us losing fans because we’ve lost our ‘English flare’.
Given that the decline in support only began from 2006/07 I was wondering which English flare players we have lost since then? (yes I know I’m ending a statement with a question mark)…we have lost our heritage and english flare.Until that point I was taking you seriously.
I reckon they must already have someone lined up. Jewell seems an odd choice after the ‘rescue’ job he did for Derby. Can’t see Hughes stepping down to Bolton either. Be interesting to see who the bookies have as favourites, Curbishley? Keegan?!?
Anyone else hear the booing at half time and even a few at full time?
Out of order whoever it was.
On a related note, two great receptions for two former great players today as well, although a major contrast. Chimbonda got what he always gets and fully deserves and then a great reception for Jason Roberts, also just what he deserved.
some may thing the booing was deserved, one thing for sure is more and more people are waking up to the fact, that the spanish ones pretty football revolution is a myth.
Some of the football we played in the 2nd half was really very good. The way Figueroa and Nzogbia linked up was some of the best football I’ve seen at the DW. Gomez was very composed and, whilst occassionally I’d like to see him move the ball on quicker, he was dictating most of the play.
I also thought Gomez had a good game today and he was also very good at Stoke.
Scotland didn’t. I’d love him to get a goal, but with the average male life expectancy these days at 77 years and I’m already nearly 42, so not likely to see it in my lifetime!
I booked this afternoon off to get to the game and tomorrow off so I could have few drinks before driving home in the morning. Now I’m just visiting relatives with no reason to go out, or drink.
320 mile round trip and now it’s blizzards back home, so no gaurantee I’ll get back too soon either. You men should be asking for your council tax refunded. The state of Wigan’s roads is disgraceful. In Milton Keynes we’ve had snow, thaw, freeze, more snow and temps down to -4, but almost every road is completely clear and most of the footpaths too. Gritters were out 2 days before the snow.
I have exactly the same problem, but only on my laptop, an old Dell.
It’s easy enough to get around, just scroll down and the latest posts are on the right. Follow one and you’re in.
I don’t think the problem is browser related. I think it’s down to your screen size/resolution. I’m using ie7 on my laptop and it doesn’t show the message board link on the laptop screen. When I put the laptop into the docking station at work the link appears. I have a new 19″ monitor on the docking station.
Also, on the laptop screen the headline is way down the bottom too, but again this is fine on the monitor.
We have two other PCs at home, both have widescreen monitors and both work fine.
Mind you, my iPhone works perfectly too.
Hope this helps.
No need to say sorry. Wasn’t trying to correct you.
The one I can’t quite understand is Plymouth. It’s miles from anywhere, but I guess they need something in the far South West, rather than just Bristol. -
