I won’t be drawn Tez – life must be a barrel of laughs at your house with such a positive outlook.

This is clearly a case of positive discrimination rather than sexual discrimination.

However, in certain cases positive discrimination can redressed the imbalance caused by years, if not decades or centuries, of blatant discrimination based on sexual or ethnic orientation.

This is an example of one of those cases.

I understand what you are saying Sammy and agree that woman’s struggle against inequality is a noble and justifiable cause but do two wrongs make a right?

Discrimination is discrimination – can it be positive?

I don’t know the answer but it makes me feel uneasy when people talk about positive discrimination. I suppose it’s ok when it’s not you on the receiving end.

I thought we looked pretty solid today and was pleased with the performance. We probably ended with something like the team we should have started with.

Emmerson Boyce is a centre back now and not a full back. Roger Espinoza does not have the finesse for that position; it should be Maloney’s.

It seems strange that everyone (including myself) could see which substitutions and changes were necessary before they happened. Does that mean that MacKay is predictable or that we are all becoming experts (including Griff’s know-nowts ;) )?

PS McCann looked a class apart.

After recent attempts to justify our actions, perhaps it is better just to keep our heads down and play football.

I doubt Radio Manchester were attempting to assist us; more likely looking for another slip of the tongue or misplaced word.

She will have realised how much support there is for Dave Whelan and Wigan Athletic and adjusted her “deeply held principles” accordingly. After all, we are all voters.

              …….. pathetic isn’t it?

                Couldn’t agree more.

When my son was growing up, I always used Dave Whelan as an example of how it was possible to make it to the top without necessarily needing professional qualifications. I went on to tell him that the main ingredient was common sense and Dave Whelan had it by the “barrow load”.

You can imagine my utter astonishment when I found out what he had said.

You may be right Donny but a jury heard all the evidence, found him guilty, and the judge came up with an appropriate sentence. Our judicial system is what sets this country apart from many others and it shouldn’t be any other way; there is no room for “the mob”.

Whether we deal with criminals too leniently is another matter altogether.

                    Roger denies being homesick !

He more or less confirmed that the players would not play for Uwe. Let’s hope they decide to play for Malky. The problem may be that we have too many good players who all want to play and was probably the reason for Uwe’s crazy selection rotation.

What Ched Evans did was despicable and he was rightly punished. In a free country the law decides what an appropriate sentence is and the offender must pay the price.

However, the judge did not say “I sentence you to 5 years in prison (or whatever it was) and then you can never play football again”.

I agree with the Sheffield United chairman, we should leave punishments to the judiciary system and NOT the “baying mob”.

PS Yosser – who the hell cares about Lisa Nandy’s headache?

What is this country turning into?

It’s only right that we should question people’s actions when we think that they are overstepping the mark. It is also right that we should keep an open mind on all things and be prepared to modify our attitudes accordingly. This is especially true when it comes to equality and diversity, as Mohammad Ali said “A man who views the world at fifty the same as he did at twenty has wasted thirty years of his life”.

However …….. There seems to be a growing intolerance, by an increasing number of “moral zealots”, who are more interested in destroying people than enlightening them. It is true that if you cut off a thief’s hands he will no longer be able to steal, but is that the kind of society we want?

There is a real danger that the moral busy-bodies will become more dangerous and spiteful than the people they attack.

I am presuming this Lisa bird/number is MP for Wigan. Well come on what can we expect with the anti Latics track record her Marxist dictator like party have shown towards our beloved club over the years. Then we won the cup and the grovelling shit houses soon wanted to pin their badges to our shirts and even had the bare faced cheek to steel our believe motto. Believe in Wigan.. my arse. Where was their Marxist support in [/i][/b]the eighties when they went out of their way to try to push us out of business??’

I wouldn’t have used those exact words but I agree totally with your sentiments B) B) B) You have to admire their band-wagon jumping skills and their eye for spotting an opportunity to ingratiate themselves with the proletariat.

Dave Whelan is guilty of being a human being just like the rest of us:

Hands up those on here who have never exhibited one of the seven deadly sins – Jealousy anyone?

Hands up those who have contributed more to the general well-being of Wiganers.

Perhaps he should have paid for a little media training instead of pouring money into the lost cause of pleasing Wiganers.

As one of the more intelligent posters on this forum, I can’t believe you have said that. That is one hell of a vanity case (pun intended) – £100 million worth?

Have a word with yourself and stop talking like Bicky. Why can’t people take him at face value? He loves his home town, wants to give something back, and he can afford it.

One of the biggest failings of human beings is the inability to admit that they were wrong. Changing one’s mind is viewed as a weakness (certainly in political circles anyway), but surely it should be seen as a great strength when someone is big enough to accept the facts and change his/her view accordingly.

Argument in it’s purest form is a learning process where the participants listen to the views of others, examine the facts, consider all the circumstances and come to a well-informed concensus. All participants learn something from the process and it is a win-win situation. In it’s lowest form, arguments are about winning and losing where the antagonists will use any means to win. Facts, logic, mitigation and the search for truth go out of the window in order to feed over-inflated egos.

Surely it is now time for the Roberto haters to at least admit that Roberto might be a half-decent Manager after all and MOVE ON!!
