It has been proven beyond all doubt that one’s popularity is inversely proportional to one’s achievements in life, so the answer to your original question is probably yes.
Relegation clauses – paras 2 and 3:
“The Spaniard says he has a relegation clause in the contract he signed last summer, adding it’s only fair his wages drop in line with his players if the Latics go down.
He said: “There are relegation clauses in all of the contracts. I have one too. It’s about having a sound financial plan and if you drop your league status, you’re dropping your budget. Everyone should be affected.”

It just show what a two faced lying cheat Martinez is, coming our with all that “WE” stuff when he had already agreed to move to Everton.
Before anyone disputes that statement, the Spurs game was on the 27th April over a week after Martinez had held talks with Everton and agreed a deal.
You sure have a way with words – should have been a Union Rep. You are the most uncharitable charitable man I have ever come across (and that is being charitable!!).
It seems, Lostock, that he has it in for all the “knobheads” as well (taken from the M-A Fortune thread). With a superiority complex and head that big I’m surprised it doesn’t affect the tides.
He is a lovely fella, never as a bad word for anyone on this site :)
I think you’ll find that the knobheads and the gobshites are more or less the same population.
I told you that fishing lark was easy, Arky. Four or five here in one easy cast, is that the correct term? Does anyone know the collective term for gobshites?
A “Closet” of Gobshites
Even a stopped clock is right twice a day. ;)
I think it’s time to bury the hatchet with Coyle. The decision is made and we need to judge him on his own merits. None of which any of us have a clue about yet if we are honest. He got an average Burnley up, Did well in Scotland, And took a poison chalice at Bolton who have had crippling debts for a good few years that were kept out of the public domain. This job Coyle has taken is by far and away the best opportunity he has had at any club to prove what he can do. He has the players and in this division he will have the funds.Bury the hatchet?
I don’t know any sane poster who possesses one. I suppose Dave Whelan could have tried to hijack the Chelsea/Jose Mourinho deal to appease the darkside – tight git. ;)
OMG – we haven’t sunk that low have we?
I think the lightside have had it their own way for too long. How about “Paint it Black” by the Rolling Stones? – the words are spot on ;)
Seriously though AC/DC “Shoot to Thrill”
Why don’t we all just wait and see?
David Whelan was quoted as admitting he is not right all the time. My own opinion is that he quickly finds out if he has made a mistake (not necessarily based on initial results) and acts accordingly. If he feels he has made the wrong choice he will sack him but if he thinks things are moving in the right direction he will stand by him.
I don’t claim to know the exact detail of Owen Coyle’s management history and can’t be bothered researching it. Neither was I present at the interview process so I will do what I have always done and make my own mind up whilst watching the live games.
I had an investment at 16’s on Robinson and certainly wouldn’t exclude him from the race just yet.
Hope you didn’t waste to much.
Have you ever owned a smart phone with predictive text?
Wait for your latest series of insults.
Salford beat me to(o) it  does that make you a LIAR?
No, go on the attack as much as you like, it does not hide the fact that both YOU and I know you got caught out telling porkies.
Ha Ha you are just a pathetic bully boy who can dish it out but can’t take. The point has been made now so I will just go back to ignoring you.
PS I think the word is Touche’

Be careful Arthur, there are people on here who are in denial of all this. Very like the people who don’t believe the holocaust happened. I suspect Mr Whelan has been too successful and made too much money for their liking and the green eyed monster has taken over ;)
WHO ?
Looking for another excuse for one of your diatribes? If you took the time to read posts you would know, and please stop SHOUTING Loudmouth.
I got the opportunity to speak very briefly to DW last week. I didn’t thank him for the FA Cup or 8 years in the premier league or the new stadium or funding some of the most gifted players I’ve seen in a Wigan shirt or for being responsible for some incredible highs over the past decade and more, I thanked him for saving my club when it looked all but doomed. That’s the biggest thing Whelan’s done for me and whatever happens in the future I’ll be eternally grateful.Be careful Arthur, there are people on here who are in denial of all this. Can’t deny what you say is true Hindley but surely you can give him a little credit for something even if it’s only the FA Cup.
The only vile posts in all of this are from you, “low life” , ” nasty piece of work” , that isn’t vile?
You told a lie to give credence to a post you made, when I picked you up on that you then, as now, launched into a tirade of insults , if you don’t think anything I post “deserves response” don’t use my name as another embellishment in your posts as I pointed out in my first reply. Is that ” vile ” enough for you?
A simple apology would have done but whatever ……
