Will Grigg was the exception Donny, as we signed a player who was ever so used to playing as a lone striker. Perhaps we are signing strikers who are not used to playing that role & expecting them to do it.
Hmmmmm! Derek, I’m at a kind of liberty to agree with what you are saying. I too believe we should have amassed more points than what we have gained over the last 3 – 4 matches. But without “taking our chances,” is why we find ourselves where we are. You cant really blame cook for his players not scoring no matter how hard they work on it at training.
And on the subject of cook, have you read the post by one of our members on another thread? It appears you & a few others are wasting your breath with the cook out chants. Perhaps the owners & Royle’s do have a long term plan for our club, so perhaps we should get behind them.
I agree on the subject of bringing windass & gelhardt in the team. I’d also have Lowe or Pilkington in there too. I for one do think it’s coming together- albeit slowly! But we do need to be more ruthless in front of goal. Achieve that & there would be a few more happier people on here.
Gelhardt played a decent ball through for Moore to fuck up but apart from that didn’t really make much impact on game. We were well on top before he came on and we’re no better with him on.I think cook needs to give him a full game to prove his real worth.
I kind of agree with you both here. I personally do not have a problem with the 1 striker – never have had. However, if cook is insistent on playing the long ball in the hope that Moore’s flick ons will go to a fellow player – which is not the aim of the lone striker role, he does need someone further up top with him. I would go for either Windass or Gelhardt.
10 points behind! But had we taken our goalscoring chances in the last 4 games, that gap could & should have been even less of a gap.
I don’t understand our formation to be fair.
Everyone slags off 442, but we play with a target man as a 442 team may do. but we never have another player within 20 yards of the target man.
If we are going to use Moore as a target man, FFS get someone up there to take advantage of that as the lad wins nearly every ball, but there is never any one to flick or lay it off to.
What position or role is Massey supposed to be playing, as it is definitely not a supporting role for Moore?
I really feel sorry for Moore, he works his bollox off, wins everything but has no support at all.Feel sorry for Moore also looked absolutely knackered at the end today, maybe gelhard working with him is the answer.
Or Windyarse or Garner. Moore and Garner would tear this league apart with Pilky and Moore out wide and Williams in the middle with Morsy but not a chance it’s our thing now one striker with five midfielders.
Not sure how that would work Donny. Moore & Garner up front sounds fine. But then throwing Moore out to the wing as well!!!!!!

I hear you. And bring windass back into the team as well.
My front 4 would be a combination of:
Moore
Gelhardt
Windass
PilkingtonThe latter 3 swapping positions every now & again.
He really should have taken his 1 on 1 chance.

The worrying issue for me is when Moore last played in the championship, albeit with another side languishing near the bottom, he managed 4 goals that season. Compare that to his season in league 1, & he managed I think 21.
I like the guy & his work he does to bring others into the team. Although many times no one is alongside him. He kind of reminds me of Crouch who took a while to get his first goal, then along came us!
My worry though, is he another league 1 player at best? Or are we simply not playing to his strengths?
My own view is that his team is improving and he is also bringing some of the youth team through but he does well on a limited budget.Cook reminds me of another ex-player who went onto manage the club. This guy against all the odds won our greatest ever honour as a football club, yet was still labelled a clown by some. Truth is Vince, we could have Pep or Klopp in charge, yet some wont be happy.
I’ll have to say theres been a marked improvement of late which I think is down to workmanlike performances by those in the middle of the park.Just read Windass’s dad tweeted that son Josh was fit to go Sunday. Seems like he was just left out the squad.
More strange decisions by Cook
Perhaps windass isnt workmanlike enough in cooks eyes.
Drop Massey & give this lad at least a game.
2 great away efforts….should have had 6 pts…..a minimum 4……get 1……scoring in open play a massive issue….Not Cooks fault ?…..Sorry but that’s usually where the buck stops isn’t it ? He continually picks Massey,Jacob’s…..Derby Naismith on,late equaliser…same today. Cook out ffsHow is it cooks fault why Massey never squared it too morsy?????
I nearly spat me cornies out reading this this morning from Cook:“As you’ve seen with young Joffy, I think when results go well, the clamour for the younger lads to be in and around the team isn’t as strong, but when results aren’t going so well, sometimes we can look to them as the one’s to carry the torch,” said Cook, who decided not to bring him on in the midweek loss at Derby County.
“I always think for any young player coming into winning teams and successful teams is a lot better than coming into teams that sometimes maybe aren’t doing so well, so the progression of all the young lads at our club must be dealt with in the correct and proper way.”
He’s basically saying, if were winning he’ll get game time??? Wtf is he on about. Rule one, if you winning every week dont upset the apple cart, bar injuries you keep the same starting 11. Why the fookin hell would you play the lad in a winning side? there’s be no need.
The reason people are complaining is because we cant by a goal right now relying on Dunkley ffs but Cooks hell bent on playing players who cant score.Cook your talking utter fookin shite m8 once again and your out your depth in the Championship. Your fear of losing cost us again.
If your winning keep the winning side, if you can’t buy a goal change it. He seems to think if your winning change it, what a crock of shit .
The Derby game was there for the taking. We were on top and Lowe failed to put the game to bed. Moore was hands on hips 70 mins gone.
Easy decision, bring on Geldhart for Moore, fresh legs and let him try and do what he did at Hull.No no, Cook bottles it and it back fires. We’ll never get a better chance to take 3 points away at Derby but Cook preferred a point.
Do I blame the players ?, no. If we play to Moores strengths, and when a games for the taking go for it.With Cooks statement about looking after the young lads means he’s not worthy of 10-15 minutes.
Rubbish Cook either give Moore the correct service or play Geldhart more often or regular sub time and wean him in.
Were bottom of the away form League, worse goal difference, 1 point from a possible 21. If carry on like that well have to win 2 thirds of our home games.Ffs Cook, grow some away will ya !!
You know summat, I agree with you!!
