I’m with Lostock & Italia on this. And had we have folded during the administration year, I would have been done with football for good, even the World Cup & Euros.

If we are to go t1t5 up again, then it’s a case of that’s all folks!

These jokes about the name of our neighbours stadium are a bit sheet if I’m being honest.

    Apparently, Magennis is out injured.

Settle for a 0 – 1 win via a Keane penalty. Really don’t care if our goals come from open play or from a set piece.

Will be Tough Sheet if they miss out on promotion.

I have to say Cup Winners & Vince, your posts are IMO a true reflection of current circumstances & I echo what you both believe.

Since 1997, we went on one incredible journey that all clubs in the lower tiers would give their right arm for. Like most clubs in L1 & 2 (including the smaller championship clubs) who have had similar success as ourselves, their run & glory years sadly & inevitably come to an end. A club like ours does not have the finance, history, fanbase, nor the club size to maintain these “glory years.”

One day they might come back. They might never come back. Que Sara & all that.

Always thought that McGrath was half decent. Similar to Shinnie, if you play him out of position he’ll look sh*t but put him him the position he plays best he looked to me he could be the answer to our attacking mid.
When Shinnie arrived for some unknown reason only LR could explain he asked Shinnie to sit deep and he was awful to say the least, the exact same happened to McGrath then Saturday he scores a worldy overhead kick.
The killer for me is bringing in the likes of Azeez. A 20 year old with little or no experience who watched the game fly by over the likes of Aasgaard a far more experienced player at this level.

No one can come on here and tell me we haven’t got some young kid just as good who could do better ?. As for Fletcher?, I’m baffled to the high hills as to why he’s first on the team sheet I would like to hear Kolo’s explanation on that one.

Why when we’ve no pace what so ever do we not give one or two of these young lads 10-15 here and there I’m mystified and do not tell me their not ready like Hughes.

Well based on the performances since November if Kolo honestly thinks half a dozen of them will keep us up he needs change whatever meds he’s on cause he must be on brain blockers.

Agree about Scully, mind boggler not one but two managers so something’s been said for sure.

    Kolo listen up pal
Add some pace into the starting 11 were pedestrian like and McClean couldn’t go past me. Everytime we lump it up then watch it come back, we couldn’t break a KitKat nevermind a back 3-4

Kolo, widemen, do you not like width to try and get in behind and service Fletcher or Magennis. Everything’s through a midfield that offer nothing going forward.

Kolo, add some youth, hunger, desire, I don’t mean swamp it, integrate them, you never know you might get another shock like Hughes,

Kolo, drop Power when he’s not playing well. It seems to all however he plays he’s in regardless, never subbed.

Kolo, pull back a couple of loanees or is it a simple case they don’t wanna be here. Currently we’ve no left back not a one. If you think McCleans a left back you deluded. Drag Robinson at Tranmere back and get him thrown in he’ll learn quick enough.

I highlighted in my earlier the comparison between us and Blackburn age wise so why not give Stones a go or Sze.
We’ve had a very good youth system at a club for a good few years unearthing some young talented but for one reason or other we’ve never seen them reach their potential with us and I’m also talking well before admin.

This club is for me a shambles going down the nick once again and I’m sure we’ll be calling on the like of Stones and Sze to bail us out at some point

Not to play to sell when giving them a chance might just possibly get us out the sh*t were in

End of a rant I think most on here will agree with bar our club

I’m trying my goddam hardest to remain positive. I do however agree with what you’re saying Cup Winners.

Heard Tyler Blackett has signed on a free.

Bit confused how Humphrys & McGrath are in the starting 11. Unless you know something we don’t. I also very much doubt we’ll go 442 either.

He’s left you guys to sign permanently for Ipswich. I thought that if he requested to cut his loan deal short to make a permanent switch then it would be to a higher placed championship club. Yes, there were rumours of a return to Sunderland, which got even stronger when Everton recalled Ellis Simms, but I suspect he burnt his bridges by not coming in the summer for whatever reason and our DOF has decided to look elsewhere.

But I’m very surprised that he has chosen to drop down to the 3rd division as he hasnt looked out of his depth for you guys this season, unlike others. Looking at that table, its a 3 way shoot out for the top two, but the top 7 only have 2 defeats between them in the past 6 games, so everyone is in form. Definitely no guarantee of championship football for Ipswich next season.

I’ve just checked the L1 table. Ipswich as it stands lie in 3rd, 7 points of top spot. Long way to go, but I agree, there is every chance there is no guarantee of promotion either.

Nevertheless, Ipswich have a very prolific goalscorer for that division.

    in reply to: Question #197816

The team 90-94 was made up of crocks, Free transfers ,sunday league players ( two goalkeepers i can think of straight away !!)and has beens.
The wages they were paid would have been laughable compared to what this present bunch are probably being paid but i never came away thinking none of them were not having a go.
In fact i would have gladly put Neill Rimmer or Ian Kilford in that midfield yesterday ahead of what we had yesterday for sure, at least they tried their hearts out.
The question is whether this is the worst bunch we have ever seen and i would say yes but lets not forget Leam cobbled this bunch together and made it into a very good league 1 team but unfortunately not in any way shape or form a championship one.
Latics teams have always been used to the underdog tab but maybe this has changed now especially by the reaction i am seeing from away crowds at home matches.
My view is to use this month to weed out those that want away and try and replace as best he can while also looking to our development squad to see if any more are worth giving a run and the FA cup game would be a great opportunity.
I would certainly try this as the standout players of recent weeks have been Lang , Hughes and Asgaard , all home grown players.
When all is said and done at least we have a club to support , look where we were 2 years ago and it puts everything going on now into perspective and i most certainly didn’t storm off yesterday before the final whistle.

In fairness Vince, the likes of Rimmer,Kilford & Andy Lyons were by far the better players & did indeed always give 100%.

I’m thinking more of your Pat Gavin, Neil Morton, Greg Strong, Lee Rogerson et al.

    in reply to: Question #197810

I don’t consider this to be the worst team we’ve ever had. That honour would go to the Teams we had during 1990 – 1994 BW (Before Whelan.)

in reply to: Sunderland last night #197791

There are rumours circulating that Toure is looking at bringing Humphrys, Jordan Jones & McGrath back from their loan spells. The latter can most certainly fill that playmaker role.

Oh don’t flatter yourself. I’m not obsessed with you by any stretch of the imagination or anybody else for that matter. Just answer a question, like I answered yours all that time ago. It can’t be that problematic.
