Do like all the other clubs do these days and slap a massive price tag on his head. If the big boys do start circling then they pay the big bucks for him. COYL

Spot on nuneaton. How much would you estimate as a huge price tag? £10, £15, £20, £25 million?

Well at 2-1 down, I thought fook me I’ll mow the lawn and forget it’s Saturday.

I was painting the garden fence.

It’s the first time I have seen him in all honesty. Based on that goal, i can see why the big clubs want him.

It was only the same when Alan Hansen used to do it on the BBC.

Be more interesting to see how many Cook sends out on loan

Good move for all
If you read this on Facebook like I just have, seems most are against it.

The biggest positive, and I do mean this sincerely, is that we had a match today, and we will have a match in a fortnight.
Some football fans don’t.
Yes, I too am thinking Cook’s time is done, that we are struggling far more than I thought we would be, but thank goodness we can moan about that.

I would hazard a guess that we wouldn’t get the support and backing the EFL have given Bolton. I doubt they would even show us the patience they showed to Bury either.
How do you mean donny?

Gelhart out his depth I’m afraid felt so sorry for him. Nearly cost us a point trying to dribble the ball out just outside our box and Marshall made a good save.
Goes to show how fans can want things that arn’t there.

Usually JR you talk a lot of sense, but you cant judge a player (especially a young lad) after playing for 20 minutes.

I was surprised to see his name on the team sheet but I thought Marshal was MOM today and saved us from another defeat.

A very strange game today with lots of needless mistakes from both teams.

Marshall did indeed have his best game thus far & pulled off some cracking saves. He was 2nd IMO for MOM popped only slightly by Williams. Lowe had a decent game as well, as did Moore.

Big let downs for me today was Jacob’s & Massey.

Mulgrew is oneof the best set piece takers outside the PL.
That free kick in the first half was on a sixpence.
He scored three last year direct from corners.
So why are we still having Lee “can’t get it over first man” Evans taking them in the last desperate seconds?

I was thinking the same thing as well.

TBF Marshall & Byrne both had good steady games for me. The former pulled off some top saves. MOM for me was Williams.

I suppose you have to be of a certain age to be infected with this abject hatred of Bolton Wanderers.

In truth Wigan Athletic has never had a long-standing rivalry with any football club. We had enemies back in our non-league days who were for the most part left behind in 1978. Locking horns with Bolton only started in the early to mid-eighties. Granted this escalated for the next decade or so, plenty of time I suppose for it to develop into the vitriol now being shown by some on here. For me – being of a certain age – the loathing is superficial so I’d like to think I can look at Bolton’s plight in less passionate way.

Latics may be unique in the football world in that our longest protracted rivalry has been with a club playing a different sport. And we’ve good reason to consider them to be the greater thorn in our side. Whatever resentment Bolton may have thrown our way it does not compare with the long-established put-downs, patronising, and lack of empathy shown towards us by both rugby fans themselves and the club itself, especially when we ourselves were struggling to survive.

There may well be a good amount of satisfaction had in seeing Bolton struggle and much resentment that they have escaped expulsion but we as a small-town football club surrounded by big city teams need to be careful what we wish for. All clubs need a rival and preferably one that we can actually play now and again. Without that football is less appealing and the requirement to despise someone can no longer be satisfied.

Who knows how long our current owners will stick around until the interest wanes? It may be our turn someday.

Very well said sammy. I have been echoing something similar either on here &/or Facebook, especially your last paragraph.

Greed league including players should hold their heads in shame.

It’s not really their fault how much they are paid, but I do get where you are coming from. Football as a whole seriously needs to take a look at itself.

in reply to: Another twist. #180741

Cant believe some of you are actually ecstatic over their potential demise. Look! I hate & detest them as much as the next latics fan. All it takes is for the IEC to get bored with us & pull out, & where will that leave us????
