At the end of the day it depends on what the actual club’s ambitions are at this present time. If a club needs to get back to the division it was just relegated from then I would imagine that they would get in an experienced manager. If on the other hand there is a certain lack of ambition at said present time then a club will do it on the cheap and fill the managerial position with someone from within the club! There is no rush to get back into the Championship it would seem!
If I was to say what a ridiculous suggestion this is are you going to come back all self-satisfied and claim you were only on a wind-up? Either way it’s pathetic.
Sunderland…big ground, big support but when it comes to getting to finals and winning stuff, they’re just a **** Middlesbrough
If you are talking about post-1973, and ignoring the last century of professional football then you have a point. Sunderland have appeared in three major cup finals and two play-off finals, and lost them all. Not a great record, but five Wembley finals in 30 years is more than some clubs have enjoyed..
However, 2013 is also history. Bear in mind as well that Sunderland weren’t playing in the 1st round in the 1975-76 season, a mere two years after lifting the trophy.
I feel so honoured that you feel the need to defend your massive club against the likes of Wigan Athletic.
Can’t be abbreviated as F.L.OA F.L.O is a Finds Liaison Officer – As in Metal Detectorist’ finds. I know because i am a detectorist myself.
Just sayin like……

Do you drive a yellow TR7?
FLO What I want, what I really really want is they music back when we score.I loved that, and it added a stack to the atmosphere.
No it didn’t.
Do you really have to be prompted to celebrate a goal? Was it the club’s Christmas do last night? They played like they’d all been on the piss.
GC must read this board.
I’m fairly sure a couple of folk reckoned he wasn’t the messiah a couple of weeks back
He’s a Middlesbrough player on loan to Wigan Athletic so it shouldn’t be that much of a revelation.
Just looking on the WEP website and it appears Mutty is having a tug on there about this as well.
Sad sad individual.
Worries more about crowds and crowd behaviour than on the team performance and the attitude of the fans who have stuck behind the team.
Agree with that George. What are peoples thoughts about the two idiots Ronnie Broccoli and Terry Bull. They are embarrassing.
I think Ronnie is a bit green and his brain is in a vegetative state and Terry is noted for talking shit.
I suspect not.
The fixtures are shown as being played in week commencing 7 December, so playing on the 5th would be outside that.Yes – I know, I know – but competition organisers tend to be as pedantic as I am about such things.
Still worth asking the question, I suppose, but I suspect I know the answer.
Bloody pedants! ;)
TV companies are not involved so common sense prevails to the benefit of those who will actually attend the game.
Cheers Einstein.“Two things are infinite: the universe and human stupidity; and I’m not sure about the universe.”
Totally agree with you Garswood but where was he playing yesterday? midfield or up front. How can you agree with George then go on to ask was he playing in midfield or upfront. Maybe it’s a wind-up. I hope it is for your sake because if this was a serious question you really are clueless.
Let’s hope he’s Quality and is one of the Heroes that helps us win promotion and give cause for Celebrations.
Football provides a release for many people; a safety valve if you like where they can vent their seemingly irrational anger and frustrations. For the most part the abuse and vitriol they spout is not really meant. If you were to hear them an hour or so later they would most likely have a less aggressive attitude. And if it stops them going home hurling abuse at the wife and kids or kicking the dog then I suppose it could be viewed as a good thing.
Wow! How is it today up in that ivory tower !
Touched a nerve then did it?

Why drop him in the first place then?Maybe I’m being optimistic here in believing this is a serious post and not a wind-up but maybe the answer is because he was consistently under performing?
I’m just wondering* at what point in this thread you are going to tells us it was a wind-up.
* no, not really -
